I think Garza, Lohse, Gallardo and Peralta are the clear 4 in the playoff rotation with both Nelson and Fiers in the bullpen. If it's not against the Cardinals I would give Yo game one. In his 3 playoff starts not against STL he has been lights out and he has been there before. Especially if the game is in Milwaukee. Garza was on fire for 2 months before his injury so if he comes back solid I have no problem slotting him into the playoff rotation. Peralta obviously gets a spot. Lohse should too unless he gets shelled during September. I'd probably go Gallardo, Peralta, Lohse, Garza, in that order. Separates the two harder throwing pitchers and puts the soft tosser (Lohse) in between two predominantly fastball pitchers.
The 2011 Cards were pretty damn good. They were a 90 win team and 3rd in the NL in run differential at +70 behind the Brewers and Phillies. 2006.....well, not so much
Without knowing anything about Clark, I'm surprised he hasn't gotten any shot in the majors after looking at his stats. He's consistently at .270+ BA, .360+ OBP and a home run total above 20. His lowest OPS since being promoted to AAA in 2011 is .861
Force out at the plate. He would absolutely have to hit it out of the infield. If they play the infield in, true. Middle back and he could chop one to short a beat it out? High expectations for Jean, I know.
No. Garza had a 2.88 ERA in June, 2.53 in July, and 6 scoreless innings to start August. He's been our best pitcher since May ended. Dang, I wish I had started my original post with "For argument's sake". Lohse then. I understand that. Wasn't trying to be rude, just don't think there is much of an argument. I would be comfortable with Fiers in a playoff start...I just don't know who of our top four he could legitimately replace.
Just hope to not get swept. If you would have told me that we'd be above .500 in a 9 game stretch against the Dodgers and Giants, I'd be very content. So get 1 of 2, get out of the stretch at 5-4. Anything more is gravy.
Talk about a getaway game lineup.......although I'm actually happy to see Herrera in there. #Brewers lineup vs #Cubs 8/14: Gomez CF, Parra RF, Lucroy C, Davis LF, Gennett 2B, Reynolds 3B, Overbay 1B, Herrera SS, Fiers P
