  1. Mark Rogers went 2 innings for the Stars. A little better control but still topping out in the low nineties apparently.
  2. Jays now complaining about Buchholz throwing a spitter. Jack Morris of all people is leading the way. When a team loses, especially when they expected to do better they always look for a scapegoat instead of looking in the mirror.
  3. Let's look at the bright side. Scooter Gennett hitting .403 so far OPS of .893 Hellweg off to a decent start with ERA of 3.38 and 26 K's in 24 innings. Hiram Burgos off to a good start with Nashville and now the Brewers. The trio of Hand, Jesus Sanchez and Rob Wooten ERAs of 1.32, 0.82 and 0.93 with Whips of 1.17, 0.73 and 0.72. Kentrail Davis OBP of .394, Nick Shaw .400 and Brock K'gaard .377 Total domination by Jimmie Nelson 1.30 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 32K with 5 BB. Cam Garfield seems to have found a power stroke the last couple of years slugging .510 this year. Brooks Hall ERA of 1.59 with a 1.06 WHIP Goforth having a decent year 2.74 ERA and 1.17 WHIP Michael Reed .384/.446/.830 has never looked so good as this year Brent Suter 1.80 ERA, 1.27 WHIP 16/5 K/BB ratio with Wisconsin Just a few of the guys who have looked good this year.
  4. Not strange maybe but Craig Calcaterra on Hardball Talk, http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/30/and-that-happened-mondays-scores-and-highlights-84/ says Gallardo, of all people, hit a home run. Now Gallardo has hit a HR every 27 at bats as opposed to every 41 for Derek Jeter. Do you think he would say Derek Jeter, of people, hit a home run today?
  5. Alan Williams gave up 4 runs in the first two innings. Mike Walker with a home run for the Stars run in case you're at work.
  6. Probably because he is somewhat of a soft tosser who relies more on deception and guile. Those guys tend to have a harder time making it to the Majors. Then, he is just coming back from injury, although a couple of years ago. His numbers after the injury were nowhere near as good as they were before. He seems to be settling in only now and perhaps a little last year. This is probably a key season for Rob. Hopefully, he keeps doing as well as he is now. For instance, he never had K/9 less than 11.2 before 2010 (all of which he missed). He has never approached 10/9 since. Is it because he still hasn't come fully back from injury or because he is struggling against better competition?
  7. Haniger's too good for this level. With Roache coming up, when does he move to Brevard?
  8. Jungmann 5 2/3 only 3 hits but a 3 run HR to his last batter. 4 BB's. Peripherals probably not that great but it was a better effort than his last game.
  9. Jason Rogers with only 3 K's in his first 48 at bats this year.
  10. Audio goes out just as Jungmann loses his no hit bid in the 4th. Not very efficient so far though.
  11. Outlander- What makes you think they are going with any of those guys if they didn't this year?
  12. '89 Cleveland Spiders .130 1916 A's .235 1962 Mets .250
  13. What does that mean exactly? You're predicting 90 wins or just over a .200 winning percentage?
  14. Wagner with no control under difficult weather conditions but the Rattlers have come back with a little help from their Cubbie friends. Taylor continues to impress with his all around game.
  15. Stars now down 8-0 with one at bat left. Hopefully, Goforth can do better today.
  16. TLB- I don't know. Alex said it was the correct call. Pena didn't have much command and Seidel has now pretty much put the game out of reach. Not a good game for the Stars.
  17. Odd play in the Stars game. Kentrail Davis on 2nd with a double. Tosoni singles up the middle but it hits the umpire. Davis has to stay at 2nd. 2 hitters later there is a single and Davis is thrown out at the plate. If he had been given 3rd on the umpire interference, he would have scored easily. Oh well. Stars down 1-0 early.
  18. Thanks again to all the link reporters from those of us who can't do it and read it every day.
  19. Per McCalvey, Kris Davis has made the team. Lalli is out.
  20. I would have a hard trade deadline at the All-Star break. I hate it where teams have a whole new roster from other teams come September.
  21. There is also Jason Rogers who last year put up an OBP of .416 in the pitcher's paradise of Brevard County. If he can do this at Huntsville, he has to come into the picture as well.
  22. May just as well make Boras the GM. Apparently, he can talk DM into anything.
  23. No reason Davis can't play RF. Remember Robin Yount in CF? You just have the middle infielders go farther into the OF for the relay throw.
