  1. You're all missing the obvious. Gindl is a better option than Kotsay or Morgan. Cut Kotsay and play Gindl in right until Hart gets back and then return Gindl to Nashville.
  2. Al is correct. Also, if Garfield produces, it won't matter where he starts out the year. It's what he does on the field that will count. There is plenty of room for all the catchers to move up if they produce.
  3. Not good enough. Nats tickets were going for as low as 75 cents yesterday on Stub Hub before the season opener.
  4. Nyjer A Ball .253/.357/.335/.692 Cutter : .274/.374/.583/.757 Good thing Cutter will never make the bigs. (I understand he needs to find a position) Oh, and if you're in the outfield stands, watch out, because Nyjer likes to drill fans he doesn't like with the baseball.
  5. Resurrecting this for 2018, 2022 picks. Anybody think FIFA officials weren't bribed? Why should I watch any more WC events? After all, it's easier to bribe one official than 12 FIFA commissioners.
  6. Don't the Cubs need a SS? He'd go very well with Soriano.
  7. JC Bradbury at Sabernomics blog, who is a professional economist, has him at $12.14 million. This is the 15th most valuable position player in the NL, ahead of one Prince Fielder, who is 16th. If the Brewers can sign him below that number they probably should.
  8. There is also a holdback of 1-3% that the dealer gets above invoice. Don't forget that.
  9. Logan Schafer in 2009: .313/.369/.446/.815 Gomez has never put up numbers this good at any level of baseball. At some point, you have to realize what his ceiling is.
  10. The first thing I do is listen to my messages from managers and pitching coaches from our minor league clubs. I look through all the boxscores from our minor league teams and check their progress. Reid Nichols=Mass Hass?
  11. Ben--as in Sheets or Oglivie?
  12. He ran over a catcher who didn't even have the ball. For this he was called "unprofessional" by his own manager. He deliberately nailed a fan with a baseball because he didn't like being heckled. He threw his glove when he failed to catch a ball allowing an opponent to get an inside the park home run. He has worn out his welcome in D. C. The Brewers will be welcome to him. I supposed a platoon of Gomez/Morgan is a sort of dream for some of you.
  13. This is an area of need for the Brewers. I'm not convinced that Kotteras is any kind of answer. There is nobody at AAA or AA who is a genuine prospect. Zarraga (44th round, 2006) can hit some (.279/.380/.373/.753) but catching seems to be a weakness? Often plays DH. Garfield is only 19 and may improve but (.243/.284/.317/.601) has been terrible at the plate this year. Rafael Neda (10th round, 2010) could be a fast mover but nobody can say just yet. Tyler Roberts could be a factor down the road but is repeating Arizona this year. There are a lot of question marks and it might be wise to look for FA's in the off season if they can improve on Kotteras. They are one Lucroy injury away from a disaster right now.
  14. Devo 2 feet from a walk off homer. They hold the man at 3rd. Intentional walk to Dennis, double play and a line drive caught by a leaping fielder and the T-Rats go down again. Devo with his 17th outfield assist today.
  15. Big two out 2B by Taylor Green to make it 5-3 heading to the 9th. He leads the Stars in RBI's?
  16. Why didn't he bring in Braddock or Capuano to face Rasmus if he was going to bring in Hoffman anyway?
  17. H-Crew no hit for 6 1/3 have come up with 4 in the 7th including a massive homerun by Sizemore. Now within 5-4.
  18. Wisconsin in rain delay. They expect to start but not for some time.
  19. Just as a point of reference, J. C. Bradbury at the Sabernomics blog, estimates Prince is worth about $104 million over 5 years. The Brewers were pretty close to that but I don't think they should go over what he's worth. For all we know, he already has a gentleman's agreement with the Yankees. Why else turn down the money when he could get injured and end up with nothing?
  20. Cody went 6 1/3 innings giving up 1 run. Tied 1-1 going into the 8th. Edit. Jax self-destructing in the 10th. 2 infield singles (so far) on throws that eluded 1B Vinnie Rottino. Vinnie with bad throw home on Gindl's grounder allows the leading run to score. Edit2. 3 runs on 4 infield groundballs, a double steal by Lawrie and Gindl and a couple of wild throws to the plate. 4-1 going into the bottom of the 10th. I had to double check that the Stars were not playing the Timber Rattlers. Let's see if Henderson can finish this game.
  21. The MASN radar gun had Hoffman at 91! on his last fastball before the changeup strikeout of Morgan. I don't remember him being that strong in quite some time.
  22. Merklinger has a shutout through 6 with 6 K's. Tees up 3-0. Audio trouble with everybody else. Edit. Merklinger is the new Odorizzi (at least for tonight). 8 innings of shutout ball. Jeffress in for the 9th. Kjeldgaard has been held to 1 RBI, 14 K's by Tees hitters today after yesterday's outburst. Edit2. Jeffress lit up again. 5 hits and 3 runs in the 9th. He can't get any off speed stuff over the plate so hitters just wait for the fastball. He finally got the "save" with a strikeout with the tying and lead runs on base.
  23. Just looking over some stats this afternoon. Top 10 for BB/PA: Michael Walker 23%, Yonki Hernandez 17%, John Bivens 16%, Joe Paciorek and Ruben Sanchez 15%, Anderson Machado, Joe Koshansky, Cutter Dykstra, Jose Pena and Jason Rogers 14% for Brewer affiliates. OBP: Tyler Roberts .525 Jason Rogers .483 Brent Dean .442 Reggie Keen .423 Gregory Hopkins .419 Cutter Dykstra .415 William Hawn .412 Khris Davis .411 Kentr. Davis .411 Lorenzo Cain .407 Shea Vucinich .407 OPS Tyler Roberts 1.280 Shea Vucinich 1.016 William Hawn 0.988 Khris Davis 0.970 Brent Dean 0.942 Jason Rogers 0.930 Reggie Keen 0.921 Gregory Hopkins 0.896 Brendan Katin 0.870 Robert Garvey 0.871 Other OPS Scooter Gennett 0.866 Lo Cain 0.846 Cutter Dykstra 0.840 Kentrail Davis 0.836 Chris Dennis 0.820 Brett Lawrie 0.811 You have to give Cutter Dykstra a lot of credit. As bad as he looked last year, he has had a tremendous year this year. If they can find him a position, they may have themselves a player.
  24. Dishon with his 6th bunt hit of the season. Does he ever hit away?
