  1. This is Schoops chance to prove he is worth $10M next year. I can’t see the Brewers playing that if he isn’t a difference maker.
  2. If we are sitting in a retirement home and chatting about the old days that’s fine but you’d think they’d add one stats guy to add to the broadcast. I loved the statcast broadcast of course anything is better than the normal ESPN crew.
  3. I wouldn’t mind if our big guys would start hitting so we don’t have to grind at every bullpen decision.
  4. I agree that he's been the best and I've called him the Popovich of baseball on several occasions. It's totally valid to criticize him for going to JJ again last night though. That's not just dinosaur baseball dogma. He needed a break. Another possible issue is just the value of giving them different looks to keep them off balance. JJ has now faced Puig 3 times, Machado 2, Grandal 2, and Turner 2, and it's only been 3 games. I'm not too worried about Grandal and Puig, but Machado and Turner have done some serious damage. I know it's not all on the same day, but there has to be some kind of reliever corollary to limiting the number of times guys see your stuff in a series. Lastly, a big part of Hader's success has been turning LHB's into pitcher-quality hitters all year. When you save him to the end, you don't force the other team to make a difficult decision about pinch-hitting early. He's very good against RHB's too, but nearly 200 OPS points better against LHB's. Why save him to the end and give up that advantage? Bringing him in any time in a high leverage situation with favorable match-ups has been a big part of the leverage advantage you get from him. It was a 1-0 lead with 5 out of the next 7 Dodgers (Pederson, Muncy, Bellinger, Puig, and Grandal being worse against LHP's. I was really surprised he didn't bring him in there and I feel like he's trying to play 3-d chess when it's still a 2-d game. It's baseball, anything can happen, and odds are defied all the time, but last night I don't think Counsell lived up to the incredibly lofty standards he's set for himself this year. And that's coming from someone who defended him all year long, even in the most critical IGT's, so don't lump me in with the haters. That was an extremely stubborn decision. I’m definitely on the fence with JJ. The guy who went 8-1 with a 1.29 is critical to our success but it’s pretty clear that guy doesn’t exist right now. I do think our coaching staff is good enough to turn him around but not during live games in the NLCS. Yes he put up a zero but loading the bases first is not a great formula. I don’t think we can trust him in a high leverage situation at this moment and at the very least I’d swap him and Knebel.
  5. He is a 6 time AS, 3 time GG, and has a 5.4 WAR in what was an off year for him. We aren’t trading for him and certainly not for Aguilar who we like but most teams wouldn’t consider in such a deal.
  6. When the Brewers were up 2-0 over the Rockies ARod was still heavily criticizing Counsel. 2-1 over the heavily favored Dodgers won’t change that.
  7. Counsel has completely changed the paradigm of pitching. They aren’t capable of figuring this out despite mountains of stats that explains the difference between first time and third time through a lineup.
  8. That’s the issue. Counsel has come up with a workaround from the mandatory nine digit TOR type. The players union will not like that.
  9. Counsel is the best manager the game has seen in years and it’s amazing watching the national media having no idea what he is doing yet having the urge to comment anyhow.
  10. Wow, what a "What's the point?" deal. Player acquisition in the NBA is so weird. And stupid. It’s baby steps but I like it. They couldn’t release Meeks due to their cap so we helped them in exchange for a draft pick. We should have been doing that concept for years instead of signing our own dead weight contracts.
  11. Boom! I’m sure ARoid is complaining about something with the Brewers. So glad to see this and the great Walker Buehler down by 4.
  12. That would be a mistake. Most of the runs we have allowed so far in the playoffs came with him on the mound. I’m a huge fan of JJ but he isn’t getting it done and when our offense is this bad our bullpen startegty is only as strong as our weakest pitcher.
  13. Not going to happen. We are out of the star trade market at this point.
  14. We lost one game by one run vs a great team with our best player completely crashing to earth. As they say Relax. JJ is a problem. He probably can’t be trusted the rest of this series. Yelich must start hitting. But don’t count this team out. The formula is CC and DJ find a way.
  15. Yelich has to start hitting.
