  1. I don’t see the urgency here. He had a truly great 2nd half of the regular season but he still has 3 more years of control. And not to nitpick but he is not a five tool player. Though his D would improve if he went to his more natural LF when Braun isn’t playing.
  2. Chacin is a 4th starter who had a good year. Burnes, Woodruff, and hopefully Nelson are our top hopes for the rotation in no particular order. Miley pitched well enough to earn a contract that won’t make smart financial sense to us. I like Davies to bounce back. Maybe someone will give us something for Chase? Peralta is a really good long reliever. That isn’t a knock against him because we need a guy like that more than most teams but he doesn’t have the arsenal to be a TOR guy. A rotation of Burnes, Woodruff, Nelson, Chacin, and Davies isn’t bad at all and has some upside.
  3. 1. Non tender Schoop. That is an easy one. 2. Give Moose the option. He will decline it. 3. Buy out Soria. He is 34 and no one spends $10M on your 4th best reliever. 4. Get a 2B who can play for 2019 who can get on base. See point 8. 5. I don’t see him spending on a catcher. It will be Pina and low end and low cost back up like Bettencourt or Nottingham. 6. The OF is set due to long term contracts so there are no improvements there. 7. The 1B platoon of Thames and Aguilar along with the occasional Braun is probably our only realistic option. I don’t see anyone giving us much for any of them and Santana apparently can’t play first. No we are not getting Goldy without giving up young guys we have no intent on giving up. 8. See what the market is for Ray and Santana who are blocked due to the contracts of our 3 main OFers and neither profiles as 4th OF. 9. We really need another Jeter situation where he gets in over his head and needs to dump his best players so we can react.
  4. No scenario allows for acquiring PG without giving up Hiura. We shot our bullets this year.
  5. Not this game, but Game 2 and Game 4, yeah. I can't do the "great memories were made", "good job guys!" thing. Just can't. We are known for losing and we lost again. We should have won this series. The crowning achievement will be game 163, the rest of this will largely be forgotten. It's an '08, '11. An insignificant blip. Well said. I have no doubts that the Brewers will be a very good team for years to come. But they’re not the Indians. They play in a tough division with a big payroll team. The Brewers played their butts off to avoid the cruel whims of a one game Wild Card playoff this year (which is to be applauded), but I fear 2018 was the best chance to play themselves into a World Series and they frankly blew it. Agreed. This was a magical run by one of the greatest managerial jobs I’ve ever seen but next year will be a real challenge without major changes to the offense.
  6. That would be fine if we had those but we don’t. At least not WS caliber starters. No one is going to take you seriously if you are trotting out Chacin and especially Gio in a championship series. That’s why Counsel had to get creative with the hand he was dealt. Had the offense been even averag it would have worked too.
  7. The offense was bad all year and that’s with Moose for two months. The young pitchers did everything they could but the vets just weren’t very good.
  8. After seeing the Dodgers type of players I will be a Red Sox fan. You don’t realize how subhuman these guys are until you see them day after day. I’m ashamed I ever wanted Machado. I feel like I need a shower for ever suggesting we trade for him. It’s a lesson that raw stats don’t make the man.
  9. Definitely. Hader isn’t going to be a starter. He’s incredible in the role he is in. Silly to even mention it when we have plenty of starter options next year.
  10. Yep ... need to solve the 2B hole again. And it can't be another free swinger. The need a guy that cares about OBP. Maybe Hiura is that guy at some point, but that point is more than likely not in April. I’d say stop gap type for half a season until Hiura. Even without Schoop we are still going to be at $100m or so.
  11. Love the pitching for next year. The offense is going to be brutal. Have to figure no Moose and no Schoop (such as that is).
  12. Probably the most depressing part of the series. I get that we don’t have great hitting. What I don’t get is our mediocre hitters can’t even bunt when they shift in a must win game.
  13. The Brewers don’t have an elite roster. They just don’t. The tricks Counsel did were brilliant and one clean inning from JJ or Gio and we are already in the WS. Just a tiny bit of offense and we would have swept them. It was still an amazing season and this roster played so far over their talent level it’s just so amazing and you have to love how hard they tried.
  14. That’s that. It was a great run but we don’t have the offense to keep up with the better teams. Still a great season.
  15. Hader gives the team extra juice when he pitches. Go righty, lefty, then righty to force them to go to the bench early. The issue is our offense has to come to play. That inning was a wasted opportunity because Buehler was begging us to take walks and we swung at his pitches.
  16. The offense has to make them throw strikes and play small ball. We had to score more than one run to expect to win. Buehler is very beatable in the playoffs. If Yelich is back this is a very good thing.
  17. We knew we would need to score more than 2 to win anyhow. The bullpen and the offense has to get us out of the hole Chacin dug for them.
  18. Today’s players will forever be remembered in Brewers history. This game is what makes legends.
  19. NLCS OPS Cain 679 Braun 693 Yelich 519 Moose 345 Jesus 986 Arcia 939 Shaw 783 Kratz 497 Perez 325 Schoop 000 Santana 1100
  20. He’s incredible at home, very good on the road. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=buehlwa01&year=2018&t=p
  21. That wild pitch means we have Hader at full strength tomorrow. I can’t begin to say how big that is. Thank Grandall.
  22. I know this is mean and snarky but truth be told it’s 100% true. The guy is money for us. We score when he is playing and we don’t when he is benched.
  23. I have a very bad feeling about our offense. This isn’t working and I feel like running the same guys out there in the same order is the definition of insanity. On the other hand this team did just win 12 straight, all pressure packed games.
  24. Except I didn't even make a big deal of it. I said Granderson should have more than 3 plate appearances and get a start against the RHP. It's the Braun Police that have to overreact to anything like that who made a big deal of it. It's not a hot take, a mere symptom of Braun hate, or a fixation. There's sufficient evidence to support the argument. It's debatable at worst, but some people here are trying to turn any disloyalty to Braun into something sacrilegious. Braun is hitting the ball reasonably well. Why would he be the guy to sit?
