  1. Yup. All it takes is one team. Package one of the relievers and get the same sort of deal Melvin got last year.
  2. Villar and Junior were great moves no doubt. I'd add Carter was a really good pick up.
  3. Speculation, but I'm sure it was money.
  4. I'll address it now, again. What happens if he gets hurt after the deadline, or hits .265 here on out, or the offers in the offseason aren't as significant because it's only a year of control, or teams would rather sign Wilson Ramos/Matt Wieters than package together a bundle of prospects? With the Indians off the board which team is going to step up and unload the appropriate prospects to satisfy you? Not dealing him is an extreme risk. To be upset at every deal Stearns has done is hilarious. Once again, it seems as if no matter what the return the internet troll in you comes out and bashes it. Name calling aside, and quite classy, btw, we had 70 pages of wish lists for Luc and I'd challenge you to find one that was as light as this one. Mejia we all like. No question. Allen is a 23 year old just starting AA and his skill set is very redundant. Chang. Whatever. Another middle infielder which is the one area we have covered. But please continue with the name calling.
  5. Thank you Luc. You saved us from ourselves. We now have our much needed mulligan now let's get an elite talent back and stop trading for fast giys with no power and middle infielders.
  6. We should get a tremendous deal for JJ. There is no reason why he can't go for a top 50 guy
  7. Where do we rank the new guys in our top 30 now?
  8. Yes the Mets deal was atrocious. So is this one. I'm hoping our three relievers will make up for this.
  9. Yes. I like Mejia but we really bought high on him. The Mets deal was better Here's hoping Stearns knocks it out of the park on red hot reliever market.
  10. What could Stearns have done differently? I think we can all agree he took the best offer available to him. So the only card he could have played would have been to hold firm and test Lucroy's market again in the offseason or next year's deadline. He then would have risked injury, decline, or Lucroy's market not improving, which there's a good chance it wouldn't have with even less control later. I can't blame him for not taking that chance. Well we both don't know the other deals out there so we don't know what he turned down or asked for. Mejia's upside is Lucroy at his peak. The other guys are redundant. So IF this was the best deal out there, you don't trade him.
  11. I do like Mejia and he is a significant addition, but yes Stearns is really being outclassed in this trading season.
  12. Agreed. Even though he's not as "young" as a bunch of other guys Stearns has gotten, I really like what I've read about Greg Allen. He's an OBP machine with wheels. Seems to have real potential. He's 23, just started AA, and we just drafted two OFers like him only better as first round picks. He is a nice throw in piece not a 2nd guy in a trade for an All Star catcher.
  13. This is really not a great deal at all. Yes we all like Mejia but he is an A ball catcher that is the definition of buying high. In essence we burned our best trade chip to make up for the failings of the As trade. The other two are really redundant pieces. We have plenty of no power fast OFers and good but not great middle infielders. And to acquire no impact pitching. I know this board loves Stearns but this is hard trade to like. Well no can disagree that Stearns should light it up on the reliever market.
  14. Me too. Everyone is getting incredible deals but us.
  15. Look at what teams are getting these days! Everyone is getting top flight guys back. I hope the Luc deal falls thru and we get a mulligan.
  16. We get it. You don't like Nottingham and you don't like Stearns. Could you either attempt to back up your assertions with actual analysis, say something you haven't already said fifteen other times, or just spare us? What more analysis do you need? Look at Nottinghams defensive stats. He won't be a catcher at the MLB level. Since Stearns didn't understand that when he traded for him, he had to trade for another catcher of the future in addition to drafting a few this year. As for this trade, we have 70 pages or so of predictions and wish lists and very few if any are this light, if there isn't a 4th piece.
  17. And we wouldn't have needed Mejia as the centerpiece if Nottingham was what he was traded here to be. I'm holding out hope the 4th guy is one of their big pitchers.
  18. Agreed. Most everyone else gets massive packages back with lesser chips.
  19. Stearns traded a quarter for a dime and two nickels. Whatever.
  20. Wow. Love Mejia of course. The rest are I guess interesting but not give up Luc imterestimg. Any chance they can get the Mets deal?
  21. Agreed. Not a bad haul but unless the 4th player is a big time pitcher this isn't what we were hoping for. It's been a party of top 100's for everyone else.
  22. I'm hoping one of the two big OFers, Mejia, and Aiken since DS was in Houston when he was drafted?
  23. The silence is fine. After the Mets scare, the silence is golden.
  24. I would find it tough to believe a team gets Luc without giving up their top prospect.
