  1. Who is the second MLB ready Starting Pitcher? Woodruff has only succeeded out of the bullpen. Well I didn't say that did I? I said ready, as in he's here ready to go at the MLB, not in AA with the who knows if he ever even makes the bigs issue. Moreover, Woodruff has successfully started several games for us in 2017 in a playoff race. Go find any trades that are comparable to giving up Huira +Peralta + Woodruff(and some are also including Ray). I strongly doubt you can find one anywhere close to that package. ETA: And again, I'm not saying MIA will take our offer without two of those top four guys (Wood,Burnes, Huira, Peralta). Someone could easily trump it, if so good for them. I'm fine with it. But there is no way I keep adding more and more of these guys when I might be bidding against myself. Burnes/Huira are completely off the table for me.
  2. Woodruff has more or equal value than Brinson and Ortiz when they were traded? We are talking about the same 26 year old pitcher that struggled starting and had a good 42 innings this past season? Brinson was the #21 rated prospect in MLB when he was traded. Ortiz was #63 in MLB when he was traded. Woodruff was as high as #80. They were also in AA at the time. As you can see from using these two guys as obvious examples, getting from there to MLB is a much bigger leap and Wood/Peralta are already at that point with proven success and controlled for years. To that package though, you're also throwing in an MLB ready C prospect, who knows how he does. Plus two other MLB starters they could play or flip elsewhere for more prospect capital. The more i think about it the more I think it's drastically better than what we got for Luc/JJ
  3. I haven't seen anyone throw that specifically out. But, well, that package is better than what we got for Lucroy + JJ in my opinion. Post #599. Oh I see now, still he was spitballing things so didn't look at it that way. Again, it's better than what we got for Lucroy + JJ. If they get an offer of a top 15 hitting prospect + two MLB ready SPs who've already had success at the MLB level with 6 years of control as is being proposed by some here, more power to them.
  4. I haven't seen anyone throw that specifically out. But, well, that package is better than what we got for Lucroy + JJ in my opinion.
  5. If you were going to a larger deal, Starlin Castro wouldn't be a bad guy coming back. Saves them $$, which I'm sure they'd like and would allow MKE to just let Schoop go (basically a wash $$ for us in that sense) or trade him for whatever they can get.
  6. That's specifically what I'm referring to. Given his age and dominance, he should be looked at as the least expendable of the 3. If people are going to be creating all these hypothetical trades, you'd think they have Woodruff in there as the headlining arm. I've been around sports forums long enough to know that if people realized what the Brewers had in Peralta he'd be on most people's untouchables list. Instead just about every trade proposal has him name in it. It's astonishing. Personally, given the multiple inning arms needed to build the type of 12-man staff I know is coming, I don't think they should or would trade any of those 3. But if they think they have enough coverage, I believe Woodruff would be the one they'd move. that's a fair take to view Woody as the most expendable due to the age difference and that they seemed to value him lowest this season based on how they were used. From myself (and I'd guess others too who have used Peralta), I think I laid it well a few posts back but beyond that a lot comes down to Wood/Burnes certainly look the part of workhouse starting pitchers whereas Peralta doesn't. So people are a lot more skeptical that what he did last year was fluky and think we might be selling high, whereas Burnes/Wood completely look legit. Plus being able to throw 5-6 MPH faster is a big deal for long term success. Again, I love Peralta too so I'm not trying to rip him, just saying why I'd pick him of the 3 as the one to I'd trade if I had to (and for top 2-3 C in the game, you have to give something up).
  7. Well I think it's that what was proposed was lopsided the other direction, in our view. IMO, that package proposed is significantly better than what we gave for Yelich who had 5 years of control vs 2 years of JT. And astronomically better than what we got for Lucroy, even though he had a near all star level reliever attached to him as well. I think what those throwing out these huge packages should see is that other guys haven't gotten this much in recent years, plus if they had offers comparable on the table they'd have taken them already. MIA can hold out all they want but ever day that goes by lowers his value.
  8. Peralta throws strikes. Using Pitch Info data from Fangraphs, had he qualified for the ERA title, he would have been 16th amongst MLB starters in Zone% (percentage of pitches thrown in strike zone). His Zone% was 50.8%; MLB starter average was 48.1%. There might be a question about quality strikes or that he relies so heavily on one pitch, but he fills the zone pretty well. Peralta is 2 years younger than Burnes, 3 years younger than Woodruff, while posting more dominant numbers than both in the majors yet people continue to add him in trades like he's a throwaway piece. It's mind-blowing. Thankfully he's going nowhere. Yea it's not like I want to trade him or that I view him as a throwaway. It's that I know you have to give up something legit and he is legit. Then compare to the other two legit P pieces and they are just more 'prototypical' starter in their builds and stuff. Basically they're not tiny and only throw low 90s. And while they also mostly only threw 2 pitches in MLB this year their supposed scouting reports say there should be more pitches from them to be traditional-ish type starters. We saw Peralata as a starter and he only has the two Ps. So, just saying if I haaaad to trade one it would be him for those reasons. That said, I'd love to keep him as well and if he develops a changeup to go with his violent deliver that it would be devastating and a huge addition.
  9. right, and if whatever magic Oakland caught doesn't happen then they're in the playoffs. Really, you could easily argue they'd be the favorite for a WC spot next year. With the current longest playoff drought and being this close two years in a row I don't think they should teardown now either. ETA: I'd change this post in hindsight, didn't know Cruz is a FA. Some reason thought they re-upped a while back.
  10. Well they intentionally built in a space to accommodate tailgating with all the open space, so it doesn't surprise me that there isn't development around it. that said, I stayed at a hotel this year that was walkable, probably about 20 mins or so. Just some generic mediocre chain, I don't remember which. also, Poto now has the hotel and that's very convenient.
  11. Pretty sure I wouldn't even go that far. Two of our three top MLB ready pitchers and our 2nd best position player prospect who's timeline lines up quite well with Braun's exit.
  12. Generally speaking I think most of the proposals in here are way too much to offer. It seems when we're going for someone we have to massively overpay but when we were the ones trading away Lucroy we had to come up with reasons why teams wouldn't give us huge hauls. IMO there is no way you give up Huira, Burnes, Woodruff. If that ends it, so be it. Long story short, you're robbing Peter to pay Paul by trading away players needed on your MLB roster this year. Something starting with Peralta/Nottingham and then adding in more of course. Maybe they'll value a depth MLB starter like Anderson/Davies to help them compete a bit. I could see Ray but do they need more OF prospects, doubt it. If it's not enough, so be it. No one else is giving them MLB ready prospects such as Huira, Burnes, Woodruff and for a team like MKE those are the most sought after commodities we can have.
  13. He's only 25-26 years old though, those contract were all to old players. Sure he hasn't lived up to the hype everyone expected but he's still going to get paid. He has a career 900 OPS and have a near 400 OBP last year. Worth 35-40 mil per year, yea probably not but I'm not about to root for our prime rival to add him to their team. They have the money to do it and he's a great player. Just hope he goes to the Yanks so we don't have to worry about it.
  14. Kluber mentioned here. If you want your true ace there it is, and controlled for 3/52. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-rumor-buy-or-sell-indians-shopping-veterans-including-corey-kluber/
  15. Yanks infield is Torres, Didi, Andujar. All young guys who did well and cost controlled for years. I know Didi is hurt for next year but all 3 IF spots are filled long term. Their OF currently has one good player in whichever of Stanton/Judge plays then two openings. Gardner is just blah at this point. Their lineup is very RH heavy as well so a lefty slugger in the middle would fit well. Didi is going to have to miss a big chunk of the year and is a FA after the year, they don’t have any other SS options as Torres is very fringe there, Andujar is moving more towards a LF/1B/DH guy, they need a middle infielder in my opinion and a guy who can handle SS. Their OF is way more set and have prospects coming. Judge, Stanton, Hicks, Frazier, Gardner, the corpse of Ellsbury is around for 2 more years, McKinney, etc. Oh yea forgot about Hicks being ok (but he's still nothing too good though) and yes I don't know their prospects. I guess if they view Andujar as preferred to play LF instead of 3B then Machado can make sense to go to 3B (after filling in at SS this year). I was remembering back to the deadline when people like Moose were getting kicked around to NY and I thought, why the guy playing there now is good and he's basically free. Still have the whole lineup being RH though and in a park built for a lefty power hitter. Moreover, Harper is just a better hitter than Machado. You can argue Machado a better player due to playing 3B/SS but really go look at Machado's hitting history and he's not anything ridiculous.
  16. As someone who dislikes the Yankees I sure hope they sign Harper and play him in CF. His defense will be abysmal and he will get paid well in excess of the value he brings to the team. Win-win. If I was a GM I wouldn't touch Harper with a 10 foot pole. Yankees need infield help and pitching. I don’t think they get Harper, but good for us I think he’s going to be a Cub and will be another bloated contract for them.
  17. Well I'd at least be happy if we got their hitting coach last year in return.
  18. I have no real idea how much pitching coaches tend to make but it pails in comparison to what the players make. So whatever this raise is it would be a blip on the radar relative to the overall team payroll. Something probably similar to how much it cost them to have Nick Franklin on the IR all year being paid a MLB salary. IF there is more to the story so be it, but if it was just over a few hundred thousand I have to disagree with the decision not to match. Especially if you factor in the extra money gained by the playoffs and their comments about how they'd take the savings/profits of the last few years and save it to be used when we're winning.
  19. Bill Schroeder was hated by Packer fans for the most part. The rest, yea pretty accurate. I don't see why anyone would be calling for krumeroy now, WR hasn't been a problem at all with some of the young guys stepping up and doing well.
  20. I think those of us that think he should get the chance to start aren't sure either but you'll never know if you don't give him a chance. If he's just an average starter, then sure he's likely more valuable in the pen. I just don't like the "What If", in the back of my mind. What If: he's the next Jacob DeGrom. You'd have a hard time convincing me that Jacob DeGrom would be more valuable from the bullpen over the course of the regular season. I also don't really buy into the way the Brewers organized their pitching in the last month as being the new norm or a trend that will be sustainable for the entirety of the regular season. Plus starting pitching will still win games; I still think we need some TOR arms. Right, think of it this way. Is Chris Sale or prime Andrew Miller/current Hader more valuable? Clearly Sale. Miller/Hader or a mid level starting pitcher who's still good like IDK James Shields from a few years ago or Chris Archer? Well, then probably Miller.
  21. Yea that's what I brought up a while back. Anderson/Davies fit their park, Peralta is a legit prospect, Nottingham to replace JT. Start with those 3, then some lower level stuff to hopefully fill it out. I doubt they'd want Thames due to the money but sure I'd love that too, maybe you have to kick in a few millions dollars to alleviate it a bit. Doubt their too high on Santana since we just just gave two OF prospects last year, and their huge OF would be tough on D for him.
  22. It's gotta be so frustrating for Moose. He and Hosmer are so similar of players, Moose plays a tougher position on D yet hosmer gets 125 mil and no one will sign Moose for big money. All it takes is one idiot GM Yup, and then SD was having Myers play 3B and go to OF. Could've signed Moose for half the money as Hosmer, left Myers at 1B. Don't get me wrong, that would've been dumb too for a rebuild team, but way better than Hosmer.
  23. It's gotta be so frustrating for Moose. He and Hosmer are so similar of players, Moose plays a tougher position on D yet hosmer gets 125 mil and no one will sign Moose for big money.
  24. I believe it's early December unless I misread something, I looked it up a week or so back. So, in theory they could kick the tires on other between now and then before deciding. For example, say Lowry agreed to a 2/20 deal before that date, well then just let Schoop go.
  25. Agree with Plush. Assume they keep Schoop. With the 25 mil freed up from Moose/Soria maybe they can take some of that and buy a more reliable multi position guy to backup all over the infield who has good contact skills. Needs to to be RH (or neutral splits) to play 3B vs lefties and be able to play 2B if Schoop flops again, or I guess if Arcia flops and Schoop needs to play some SS. Wouldn't be the worst thing ify ou had to give a two year deal as well to have for depth the following year too after Schoop is gone.
