  1. What's the take on here regarding the initial throwing out of Peralta? That hasn't been all over twitter like the fight. Wasn't watching since the had a good lead and bucks game
  2. Yea just one day prior Bauers was 3/5 with a 3 run HR, and his start before was a 2/5. Not like I'd be surprised or upset if he was out, it does make some sense with the position overlap with Black, but I'd guess its one of the other guys. It'll be interesting where they find ABs for Black though.
  3. I used Brooks Kieschnick in the OF spot. Good pull on Marco Estrada, generally forgot about him. Fairly recent player who was pretty solid for several years.
  4. I'd guess its Dunn or Miller but we'll see. I think I mentioned it in a game thread so some might not have seen, but I looked it up and as of like 4 days ago Black had only played one game at 3B so far this year. So taking a bunch of starts at 3B in MLB seems unlikely if they haven't been prepping him for it. But we'll see
  5. I of course don't know the specific rules here. But there's no way this is how it should be even if they end up getting right by the letter of the law
  6. I'd guess the best spot for him is AAA for a month or so. However, there is no one else better than him and Weimer needs to be down long before him. So, chances are even when Yeli is back and if Perkins keeps hitting Chourio will be up all year. Which is fine, he's obviously not doing great but he's not completely overwhelmed either. Not sure I get the Weimer/Urias comp at all. First position etc, but remember Urias was actually legit good for a year before falling off. Just not a lot line up in the comparison at all.
  7. For folks who like to dislike the Brewers announcers, especially the 'analyst' types like Rock and Dillard (I'm with those that he tries too hard on the comedy, but overall he's fine) you should throw on MLB network and listen to the Detroit game today. The play by play guy is good and sounds very familiar probably from national stuff, but the 'analyst' can barely function and is tough to listen to. I think its Kirk Gibson but could be wrong and I assume most can be chalked up to getting old but it once again reminds that even as we get sick of our guys they're generally well above par for the rest of the league.
  8. IMO, its not about teams having a moral highground. We've seen for years teams overlook stuff like this over and over if it helps them win. The Brewers employed K-Rod for years and almost no one gave a crap. We just played Aroldis Chapman today, who's been acquired over and over by contending teams. No one cared or is talking about Marcell Ozuna being on one of the best teams right now and playing great. Countless examples in all sports, massive double standard going on for him. So IMO, its all about media scrutiny. This one is on the radar that it becomes headline news and a bunch of BS to deal with for the team, thats why he's being blackballed imo. Queto would've been a good vet to give a crack, has still been able to have some good stretches as he's aged. Too late now I guess.
  9. Also just looked and so far Black has only played one game at 3B in the minors this year. So maybe they've decided he can't hack it there. Its the spot most open or likely where a call up could be needed so its a bit surprising he's not getting work in at it.
  10. Pitching staff in shambles, give up 4 runs and 2 runs. feels like its been like this forever now, not surprising that hot O start hasn't been sustainable. Positive though is Turang keeps on going, so possibly have added one competent hitter to the lineup.
  11. I'd generally agree its bs he's being blackballed over this considering all that's come out about it being a setup, especially considering the other people allowed to play and no one bats an eye. But, the team/owner who does knows they'd have a mess of a media situation to deal with so I get why its not been done. And I don't think its out of any moral principle by most of the owners, its just about media bs to deal with. I don't really have much of an opinion on him personally or anything.. I'd also be curious if he has a legal case against mlb for blackballing like Bonds sued for too If it were to be done I'd think a team off the radar, little media attention would be the one to try it. MKE could apply to that description but I'd probably add in for it to be a non competitive team in order to have less media attention. Really Oakland would be the one most able to do it. Owner is hated already, no fans there, no attention. Get the story burned out there and maybe trade at deadline. MIA in their situation this year too but its a bit of a bigger market. KC/PIT eventually if they fall off like they should.
  12. Yea I thought that's what this whole thread started about involving the market based pricing or whatever they call it. And regardless, well just use stubhub then if its lower there. I'd say post covid I'm 50% on buying from team or stubhub based on wherever I get the better deal for what I want. In addition, the stubhub app and UI is drastically better than MLBs
  13. I also generally agree with Snappers above that the gameday environment has gotten a bit stale. For a supposed eating state like WI the food is not great. We're supposed to be famous for Brats but miller park does a terrible job at it, whereas other stadiums highlight their local foods well. The poor offense the last chunk of years has made games boring. And as he said, the novelty has worn off since they've been for 15 years now. Imo all those things has led to the cost being better imo than it was say in the 2011/12 glory days, or even the 2018 great team. I've been a regular since 2010ish and past 20 game holder. To me, the just buying a ticket a day or two before the last few years has had me thinking things are way more affordable now than back then. I sat 2nd row behind home plate for $27 last year. The Sept game where Canha hit that late GW homer last year I was 2nd row road dugout for like $60. So to me this complaint came as a surprise. The one thing that has stood out as different is parking pricing. They've jacked the F out of that.
  14. But if you're talking 3-4 months out you can't say it doesn't have demand yet. If enough people are clicking and looking to buy this far out, to them that means it is in demand. And as it gets closer if that doesn't hold true or data changes then it would come down. Its essentially how its supposed to work. There's deals galore out there. Because someone refuses to use the deals because they want or demand something else instead, well that means there is a value on what their demanding. In this case, wanting the comfort/knowledge or early choosing of where to sit by having your ticket 3-4 months in advance seems to have value to folks (since they're looking to do it). Well, to do that it is logical there is a premium on that or to charge more for people who value that, if not enough do then the price will come down. Or many here pointed out how cheap the OF seats, non peak Sat/Sun games are and the response is well I don't want those I want better, well yea that means there is demand for those and makes sense as to why its more money. Essentially, tickets are ridiculous I want something affordable!! Response: OK here is $5 tickets vs a 95 win team. Here are $10-15 tickets to be in OF or upper deck for like any game. Response: Well, not that. IDK, I get its all frustrating to have to pay for things but I just don't understand what people expect for Major League Baseball.
  15. I think the main thing to note from the complaints in this thread is there is no reason to buy tickets 3-4 months in advance. Loge outfield for 3 days from now vs NY is $51. Meanwhile, the Brewers just emailed offers for $5 tickets to games next week vs a perennial AL playoff team, ridiculous price gouging!!! ETA: I went to the Seattle Sat game which had the Giannis jersey giveaway, which will likely be the most in demand giveaway of the year. MY friends got loge outfield for about $40 a few days before the game, I got like 20th row behind the dugout for like $70 a few hours before
  16. I've been looking only on stubhub because its quick and easy (if I go I'll then compare to direct from Brewers) to do for the Yankees Friday game and you can sit in the same sections described above but field level for less than what was just posted above, I'd assume loge is even less. I mean, like $65-70 to sit like 10 rows behind the dugout for MLB involving the Yankees doesn't seem too crazy...
  17. I had that on in the background today, yea that was ridiculous. At some point a called 3rd strike to end an ending happened too where the pitch wasn't really close at all, way off the plate. I don't recall which team it was against but it was against whoever the announcers were as they commented and picked on Wendelstedt and called him out on how terrible it was. I'm for robots but if they still hesitate at least give each team like 2 per game they can challenge. There was one in the Fri Brewers game that would've ended the 9th either for the win or to keep it at 1-1(which they did anyway) but it was a clear missed. Would've been a good time to challenge and end an inning rather than give the opportunity for a bad call to change the outcome. Side note Lucas Erceg was throwing 100 in it. Announcers made some comments on how MKE traded him for nothing but his stuff is so good so they can't believer why etc. Of course I'd assume they don't know the backstory on being a position player and all that.
  18. If you think they're not good and want to get something back while they still have upside prospect value, sure. Or if yes there is a different proven player you're trading for and have to give something back. Otherwise if its out of the supposed 'logjam', I think the start of the season has shown exactly why it wasn't needed to trade any of them away. A month in, two OFs are hurt. Weimer still looks like he can't hit at the MLB level. Frelick has been ok but not great.
  19. yea great find. Didn't the thread when he got acquired get hijacked by that crazy poster demanding to spend on real FA needle movers etc and essentially mocked pick ups like Hudson. Don't think its worth the time to find, but rings a bell.
  20. Yea gotta say this is a heck of a performance by Rea to get through all this traffic. I also went to double check Gray's contract with how great he's looked. Yea that 3rd year at that age makes it tough but all in all its probably going to fine barring injury. For the Brewers to do it though you probably needed one less year or an option on it, or just to have it be less per year. Its at least in the realm of something they could've pulled off but 25 mil per year for guys in their mid 30s is generally an area to stay away from, even if once in a while someone defies the odds. And Gray's game/style does seem to be the type that could defy it, barring injury
  21. Just yesterday when Dunn was hitting 4th (or close to it) I decided to double check his minors hitting stats. Yea there's no reason to think those few good games to start the year aren't fools gold. Not say that he can't be solid/competent and respectable player and its good he seems to have a good approach/eye instead of the zillion Ks we've watched for years, but any expectation of some great hitter should be tempered.
  22. Right, sucks for him but didn't he just opt in instead of hitting FA? don't recall for sure. That trade was so weird. Col basically gave him a way in order to not pay the whole contract. Then just gave a similar amount of money to Bryant right away who is a clearly worse player. But hey at least the owner isn't being cheap, spend that money!! Col has had those couple of good runs in the last 15ish years so tough to bash them a ton, but the last few years have been some real head scratchers for them.
  23. well he's not gonna hack it as a starter then in the low 90s. So many starters can do the upper 90s now and MKE has been a spot in the last few years to figure out ways to get an extra 2-3 MPH out of someone rather than the other way around like has happened with him. Good bounce back from the O, remember the bases loaded and Contreras out at the wall, this could have been a big number for them today
  24. Hall in the Seattle game was really unlucky on weak hits and dribblers, overall did fine. Just like the dribble Turang just messed up to give up a run. But really the main thing is why is his FB way off from what was told. Is he hurt, does he need more build up, etc.
  25. I think what's being a bit overlooked in this talk like how there should be someone overseeing/double checking this stuff is that the translator was that guy, he seemingly was supposed to be the trusted one all this stuff. But the last post there does kinda get into where I'd guess some shenanigans went on, which is in the cover up and story after. My guess is still that Ohtani was clueless and the guy put him in a bad spot. Is the story to the public fully true? IDK, seems fishy. Might be some ohtani trying to pay it down first off the radar or something and then it got public and then the cover up stories came in. If that's the case, IMO that is still nothing to hold against him in any major way. We'll see, more will come out. Based on what we've seen so far I'd still guess the translator effed him here putting him in a bad spot that he might not have handled perfectly.
