  1. So Aaron Judge is getting $50mil+?People thought $8mil was too much for $24mil Kolton Wong (3 WAR guy). Have Peterson could make $15mil? It just doesn’t work that way.
  2. I doubt they would take him into spring training and let that decide for them to trade Wong. If they opt to trade him for whatever reason it will be in the true off-season…not once everyone has their team set and we have to scramble to find a trade partner. In the Wong option debate thread I did mention pretty hard about the possibility he could just end up at DH. Not sure he will just start the year like that, but if Turang comes up at some point and hits well I could definitely see them shifting Wing to mostly DH. Wong defense isn’t that great anymore, but he was still our 2nd or 3rd best hitter in the entire team last year. His stat line will look good regardless of where he plays. Heck they could just have Turang take his shot and if he blows just slide Wong from DH to the main 2B again. At the end of the day I figured this was a no brainer because either A) he is our starter at 2B or B) he is the best DH we are going to find for 1/$8mil easily
  3. His defense is fantastic…but if that is a huge cause of ones value that is a big red flag for handing out a hefty extension. We just watched Kolton Wongs defense plummet from gold glove to awful in a single year…and at 31 years old. The other issue is he plays a premium up the middle position. Great now, but how long does he stick there? When he has to move, where does he go? I feel similar to Lucroy. Glad he is playing fantastic, but I’m not sure I really want him longer than we do now. Let him aging be someone else’s problem. Both the comps (Baez/Story) didn’t exactly have great years to start out their contracts. Not bad by any means, but not as good as you want when typically you only go down from there as the contract plays out.
  4. I don't really get the Adames hype sometimes...maybe it is just me, but Adames isn't even in the same universe that those peak Baez/Story years were. Both of those guys had pretty long track records. Story had multiple .900+ OPS seasons and Baez had a second place MVP finish plus many great seasons. Those guys had high ceilings and hit them in multiple seasons. Adames has had his spurts of elite play...but realistically he has 3 full seasons to his name. An OPS of .735, .818, and last year was .756. There is still a lot of uncertainty on how good he is and if he can consistently do it every year. Giving him $100mil+ sounds like a potential disaster wrapped up in a giftbox. Brewers shouldn't probably avoid giving a SS a contract for his 30s.
  5. It will be interesting to see if they commit to any rookies in the lineup or feel the pressure to get known production from a trade/FA.
  6. Was kind of a no brainer, to be honest. I am guessing they actually plan to have him on the team, but if things change, he would definitely get scooped up in a trade.
  7. Yelich sure plays like he is just coming to collect a paycheck....
  8. There is a simple reason for this. All the options suck and they don't even know anything nice/good about themselves.
  9. But their talent? Was their talent that far off of what we were this year...or more importantly, what we could technically build for next year? The Royals appeared in two world series on a tiny payroll and honestly their teams weren't that great. The Cardinals have a few trophies they got with pretty pedestrian talent teams. Rays made the WS recently (shortened season). The Nationals championship team was no better than us. There are plenty of teams winning with good, but not insanely talented teams.
  10. I mean....worked out fine for the Phillies.
  11. He went 11-7 and we were 17-12 in his starts. At least someone on the team cares about winning and is upset about losing. Not sure why you are making him out to be some bum...dude has been fantastic the last two years. He is one of our better players that is young/controllable right now.
  12. And the more you say it is racially bias isn't going to make your baseless comment suddenly fact. The Colts used to have a minority coach in Dungy, then Caldwell was his interim at one point, and then was their head coach. The fact people are trying to push some race issue out of this is an amazing reach. However, you can sleep better at night knowing that if Jeff leads the Colts to an undefeated remainder of the season, makes the playoffs, and wins the Super Bowl....the Colts would still have to go out and conduct fake interviews with minorities to fill a quota to comply with the Rooney rule. I think we should be more upset why a totally unqualified individual just got this gig over pretty much any other coach in the entire organization, regardless of race.
  13. I don't think Gard did that admirable of a job coaching last year's team. Not saying he was bad, a Big Ten title is nothing to sneeze at, but it just looked puzzling at times to me. The amount of standing around watching Davis with the ball was brutal. At times it felt like no one else wanted the ball and they were spectators. Even if you run 70% of your offense through Davis they could have been way more creative with more movement while doing so. They made it a lot harder on him than it needed to be and probably a reason his shooting numbers were as pedestrian as they were. They will also rid themselves of Brad Davison and his three-point shooting. I get he was their best three point shooter among the starters, but there is absolutely no good reason that dude should have been averaging nearly seven 3's a game. In my opinion, that team should have been more balanced by year end. ESPN Bracketology to start the year has Wisconsin as the first team not making the tourney....which seems a bit shocking to me. I think Wisconsin is going to comfortably be in the tourney picture all year. Might not be in the mix for a 1-4 seed...but I can't imagine they lose enough to be on the bubble.
  14. As a non Badgers fan they have a pretty respectable squad. A lot will depend on Hepburn really taking a step forward and maybe Wahl can make a sizable improvement. Outside of the experienced three it is pretty questionable though. I really don’t think the loss of Davis and Davison are that big of a deal. Actually, I think this team will be notably better by seasons end and be a decent tourney team. They forced way too much through Davis…and Davison wasn’t even that good. Even Davis was wildly overrated in the grand scheme. Dude just shot the ball 1,000 times per game. I think they play much better team ball without those two.
  15. Rounds 1-3 we drafted positions we didn’t need and lost the 4th round pick in the process. Seemed brutal then and even more brutal now. At least for 2022 terms…maybe Love brings us a Super Bowl in some wild world.
  16. I think their first pick this year needs to be a QB, WR, or maybe a OL. QB - if they feel like it is the next great thing. or OL/WR - Regardless of who is under center we need serious help at WR and could use OL help. If we end up going with Love we will never know how good he is with a zero experience QB throwing to this trash heap…and the OL would do no favors. Rodgers isn’t playing amazing, but I don’t think any QB in the league would be doing much better with the coaches, WRs, and OL we have. It is a wreck.
  17. Is Sammy Watkins ever on the same page as Rodgers, jeez dude.
  18. I don’t think you would have to really convince Rodgers.
  19. I have him in a family league…my opponent is projected 103, so I will honk I might win.
  20. Yah, at #1 there is a 100% chance they take the QB. Anywhere in the Too 10 this year I think a QB would be pretty plausible.
  21. I missed a good chunk of the game but I saw him drop an easy screen pass, run the wrong route in the end zone, and then not even getting close to catching that…and really, a veteran should be catching that.
  22. 20 year old Rodgers with that run. Lol
  23. Put Amari Rodgers in at QB so he can get trucked in the end zone for helping get that ball placed at the 1. Smh
  24. Alright so we tried to not be cute and it didn’t work…so then we tried to be cute again and that didn’t work. So basically, nothing works.
  25. You know that person that just shows up in a group project and does nothing? His name is Sammy Watkins…dude does nothing properly.
