  1. Sogard has been pretty good so far, he's one of the only Brewers who is not painful to watch at the plate. LoMo is only on the team because of the expanded roster. Smoak is the only one that I would agree with, I would have rather kept Thames around. Pretty good? I mean he has taken a bunch of walks, but outside of that he has been pretty bad (as shown by his barely .700 OPS). His entire career he has never taken that many walks so that’s likely a fluke and he isn’t actually Barry Bonds when it comes to drawing walks. Compared to the rest of the Brewers he is an All Star level player...compared to the rest of baseball? Barely competent.
  2. Adrian Houser was my honorary Brewers selection in the 25th round of my fantasy baseball draft. Probably one of the only things keeping my garbage team afloat.
  3. If it was a strike it clipped the zone...wish we got the call, but hardly an obvious strike.
  4. Why? He has always had a pretty huge K rate. The 70 grade on his bat. Obviously he's still very young and developing but it's a bit concerning so far. Well...I always thought he was about as close to a Weeks clone you could get...so it would be fitting he would somehow not hit as much as projected.
  5. I wonder how far back one would have to go to find a worse line up in a competitive game...especially one that isn’t a rest day special. 2016 maybe? Post Lucroy trade had to of had some bad line ups. 2011-2015 had pretty good offensive players.
  6. That guaranteed rate sign behind home plate really sums up this lineup...
  7. Maybe they decided to play someone who at least hasn’t proved they can’t hit yet.
  8. Smoak, Morrison, Holt, Sogard, and Gyorko are all journeyman...or about as close to the definition you can come to it. All are 30+ years old and lived off small contracts that are mostly one year deals. Just about all of them have a sub 100 OPS+ for their careers. Most of them we close or below that mark for 2019. I mean they aren’t total garbage, but that’s a lot of average at best players in a team. Part of it is injuries, Cain dropping out, and Urias is still MIA (not that he would necessarily be good). Part of that is also guys just not hitting well who should be...like Narvaez and Holt. Both of those guys I would certainly expect to turn it around quite a bit and arguably are the most frustrating. Smoak/Gyorko/Sogard? Those guys could definitely just be terrible all year cause they really aren’t that good. The bright side is almost every single offensive player is due for notable improvement minus Arcia/Gamel...so I feel pretty safe saying it can’t get any worse.
  9. There is nothing unfortunate about putting together an offense loaded with journeyman scrubs. Obviously Cain leaving and Braun currently being out makes it a whole lot worse, but regardless it isn’t pretty. Sometimes you get what you paid/acquired for. It’s probably a good thing it is only 60 games from an offensive standpoint. These guys over 162 games? Yikes. The pitchers being inexperienced it a little bit of an unfortunate disadvantage for the 60 game season though. Many of these guys could be really solid by year end if it was 162 games...unfortunately we won’t get that.
  10. Braun said all this made it more likely he would come back for another year. I think it now comes down to if the Brewers pick up the option or not. Originally I was expecting him to be done regardless (which Braun alluded to recently), but now I think the Brewers picking up the option may be enough for him to come back. Regarding Cain, yah, I seriously doubt he gives up $35mil and quits. People talk like he has made $200mil in his career. That remaining $35mil represents 1/3 of his all time baseball earnings.
  11. If by surprise you mean the only guy hitting like how you would expect...yes, surprise he is.
  12. That’s more Woodruff not hitting his spots to be honest. You aren’t going to get good framing by your catchers if you are 3 feet off where you were suppose to throw it.
  13. The names on the offensive side of the ball are pretty depressing. A bunch of dudes you wouldn’t want on your competing team in their prime let alone now. Smoke? Morrison? Gyorko? Sogard? Healy? Arcia still (t Ho ugh he has been decent so far)? You’d think we were just trying to fill holes on a rebuilding team so we had enough guys to play. Quantity over quality for sure. Some of it is the shame of what was available in the winter, but dang...tough group of guys we are depending on with inexperienced pitchers.
  14. Glad Garcia could pick up the slack, aka Yelich, there.
  15. Are we actually that worse than other teams with RISP? For years we were heavy on the power/strikeout players so it made sense...hasn’t been the case in recent years as much. It’s always harped we are like the worst team in history and no other team blows promising innings...always wonder if that is even the case in the grand scheme.
