  1. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/neck-gaiters-may-actually-increase-covid-19-transmission-study-finds-183034882.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=2_06 I think the gaiter mask they tested in this case was a very thin spandex-type material. I've seen gaitor-style masks available in many different materials. You are probably right, but the thin spandex material one is easily the most common. That’s what the MLB players wear, police officers seem to wear them a lot, and many other people are using those thin ones. They seem to be, by far, the fashionable selection for many. It should be noted the study was purely for how those masks stopped transmission to others...not how they protect you. The N95 valved is middle of the pack for that reason, but is no worse than a non valved when it comes to protecting you.
  2. Neck fleece masks were studied and they came to the conclusion they increased transmission 110%...so they are actually worse than no mask. I believe these are the “masks” MLB players wear and other people trying to be cool and not look like they are trying to wear an unstylish mask. Bandana were also a poor mask choice, but still better than no mask.
  3. Hoping Braun gets a decent amount of time at first. Lefties...righties...whatever. Wouldn’t hold your breath, I seriously doubt that happens.
  4. Brandon Kintzler...we quietly got rid of him and the Twins scooped him up. He was productive in his short time with us and became a pretty darn good reliever since. Not a stud, but pretty decent most years.
  5. That brawl yesterday should be an interesting one too. Not exactly following protocols.
  6. Miller Park can make CF homers look way more than they are because the screen is essentially at the 400 mark right up to the wall. By the time the ball is 400 feet it’s dropping at a decent clip. That being said it hit the sign pretty good...I’d imagine at minimum that homer was 440.
  7. I don’t think this is a young guy problem. Ryan Braun likes to mention how he takes it day to day on whether to keep playing and still can’t grasp the concept of using a mask in the dugout. Which he isn’t alone...many players still can’t figure it out and age doesn’t seem to be a factor. I bet the young guys probably take it more seriously generally speaking in baseball. They need the money while the older players are sitting on a fat stack of millions.
  8. He’s clearly struggled this year with a 12 ERA. He pitched last night giving up a run, and they trot him out in a high pressure situation today. Don’t get it, but I’ll take it.... I am betting Reds fans are just fuming over the pitching decisions this inning. Sent Gray back out and then replaced him with Lorenzen. Lorenzen clearly didn’t have it and he struggled along to really make it a disaster.
  9. With the shaky defense displayed in this series he might need a perfect game with 15+ Ks. Honestly would not surprise me if they put up like a 5 spot on Gray. Seems like the kind of joke the baseball gods would play on us. So close, so close
  10. A promising start to the inning? We can’t screw this up can we? Surprised Gray is still out there too...but isn’t their bullpen he problem?
  11. No, I think the exact same thing. I have done some umpiring though and I feel like it is 100x harder standing on the field so close. I always wish I could just umpire from the stands or from a screen. I think the same about home plate. Would probably be 100x easier to watch the video from CF and make calls (without the little strike zone box).
  12. Based on 30 at bats??? He’s a career .270 hitter with good power and above average defense. He’s the best option we have in CF with Cain opting out. He’s played really well defensively this year. But yea, we should prolly freak out over the 30 AB. Garcia is 29 and has had one good season, a couple of decent seasons, and a few pretty bad ones. At his best he’s nothing special, and he has looked pretty ordinary so far. You are being generous. He had the one great season and was simply okay last year. Even last year he wasn’t even a .800 OPS corner outfielder. Other than those two years he has been terrible his entire career.
  13. Sogard: Pitcher massively struggling with control, better go ground out on the first pitch I see!
  14. Can someone tell the ump he is suppose to wear his mask over his mouth and not his eyes?
  15. Third base is understandable since there were no good options without paying someone big. First base was deciding to dump Thames, a contributor and popular player, in order to save $2M. Dumping Thames was one of the weirdest moves of the offseason. He was a great lefty bat at 1B. I’m guessing they wanted a righty bat and opted for Smoak (who doesn’t have a terrible track record) to replace the lefty Thames at a similar cost? Regarding the revolving door, I thought Cory Hart was actually a legit replacement for Fielder...and then he got hurt.
