  1. You could sign them to an agreed contract any time you feel. Though doing so while the postseason is still going on is pretty frowned upon. If we are just tendering a contract (thus going to arbitration if a dollar amount can’t be agreed on) you have to wait for the end of the season and do so before the start of the next season. This year I believe that day is December 2nd.
  2. Everyone scared of that Chiefs game...I’m not. They were embarrassed last week at home and they should be losing today. The Texans missed an extra point, missed a field goal cause the holder can’t get the laces out, and then Watson threw a terrible pass Rodgers would never throw into the end zone. That’s only the major stuff too. Chiefs are good, but haven’t looked that incredible...especially at home two weeks in a row. A lot of people just assume that is a likely loss...looks more like a winnable game to me.
  3. Well practice game next Saturday...then Columbus. Really really hoping our defense can make it a game in Columbus. My concern there is OSU is incredibly athletic and Fields literally doesn’t make mistakes with the football. Our defense has looked incredible, but OSU is a way different level of good.
  4. Props to a bunch of unproven guys stepping up on defense...especially on the pass rush side of things. While the pass rush has obviously helped, the secondary has been much better than I was hoping.
  5. Doubt the Cubs sign him and I really doubt the Cardinals do.
  6. Was it Scooter who fell in the showers? I remember something like that... Sliced his hand on the metal shower shelf trying to grab soap.
  7. Is that really the problem? He didn't elect to transfer until November. He was apart of the basketball team/university for months of the fall semester. I don't see how he is being punished for staying on track to graduate. It isn't like he left the team prior to the semester starting and was only going to school at OSU because it was too late to enroll elsewhere. He was apart of the team and going to school.
  8. They probably felt bad for Charlie Moore for being so stupid for going to Kansas in the first place. Dude was pretty much a non factor bench piece after sitting out a year to play there. Can't speak for all blueblood programs, but can't recall the last time Kansas had a transfer get immediate eligibility on a waiver...only grad transfers. Actually I think any time something that involves an NCAA decision happens at Kansas it takes about 10x longer than it should. I am honestly really surprised they didn't let Potter play from the start. Especially since OSU vouched for him. There just is no consistency when it comes to these decisions and often times they take way too long to decide. It is not that complicated. It honestly feels like there aren't really rules and it depends on their mood at the time.
  9. All about balancing upside and production. I don't think we can afford to spend so much on gambles on a tight payroll. They are pretty interchangeable I suppose. Nelson Knebel Claudio Shaw Arcia Guerra All of these guys have small figures, but add them up and suddenly you find yourself talking about $20mil+. While, yes, these guys can get arbitration and be cut for a small chunk that would still effect how you approach the winter with all that money potentially tied up. However, cases like that are pretty rare...so if we offer to a bunch of iffy guys you can probably write them onto the 2020 roster.
  10. I oddly was cheering for the Dodgers to win it all. High payroll or not that team is run incredibly well all things considered. They deserve a WS title....just one though, then they can suck because they are a big market. Really that team is quite likable player wise. At this point cheering for the Rays...good luck to them though.
  11. One thing to keep in mind with our tight payroll...Nelson and Shaw's amounts aren't high by themselves, but when you start signing a few risky guys to take a shot on suddenly you have almost $8mil in those two alone. Throw in Guerra and even Knebel...pushing like $15mil in roll the dice type players. Knebel very well may not be that good next year. Id rather cut bait on Nelson/Shaw if that means Pomeranz comes back (and wouldn't if we spend so much on these arby guys).
  12. They would probably cut bait after a month and Hernan Perez would be the 3B. [sarcasm]So that's good right?[/sarcasm]
  13. He may turn it around, but if they resign Moustakas there really isn't anywhere to play him. We really going to spend over $5mil for him to ride the bench? I guess we could...but I just don't see how that is to the benefit of us or Shaw. I just think there are better ways to spend money. When you have a lot of talent sometimes you just have to let someone go even if you know they may do well for someone else. I am not really opposed to bringing him back, but I would hope it wouldn't effect other plans/moves.
  14. I get it if that's what you want, but if the questions is what will the Brewers do, there is no way they non-tender all those guys in my opinion. Remmeber that arb salaries are not guaranteed. I think Jimmy gets tendered for sure, and Caludio is a no doubter. Perez is a maybe. Shaw is also a maybe, but perhaps trending toward no. I think Spangenberg is a pretty sure yes. How many utility guys are you tendering? They have already bashed SS and how it needs to change. $3mil for Perez? Highly doubt that...why would we do that? Half those guys can just get invites or pick one of the 50 or so similar players sitting out there. They may tender Claudio, wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t have a huge problem there. They may tender Nelson too. Anderson is also a likely accept option and trade candidate. Forgot to mention that. I’d guess Shaw is the same if they get Moustakas back.
  15. Chase Anderson – $10.3MM – club option for $8.5MM NO Jimmy Nelson – $3.7MM NO Hernan Perez – $3.0MM NO Corey Knebel – $5.125MM YES Alex Claudio – $2.2MM NO Travis Shaw – $4.7MM NO OR TRADE IF POSSIBLE Manny Pina – $2.2MM – club option for $1.85MM with a $150K buyout YES Cory Spangenberg – $1.5MM NO Zach Davies – $5.0MM YES Junior Guerra – $3.5MM YES Tyler Saladino – $1.0MM NO Orlando Arcia – $2.7MM YES Ben Gamel – $1.6MM YES Brent Suter – $900K YES Tyler Austin – $1.2MM NO A lot of BP arms. Guys like Nelson/Claudio aren’t terrible options, but I’d rather dump them and put the money towards Pomeranz. Obviously any of the “NOs” I’d trade if possible, but Shaw seems like the only one that could garner some trade value (albeit very little). We may see ourselves offer to him and just release him if Moustakas comes back...essentially a low cost insurance god forbid we need to roll the dice on him.
  16. Okay I know we got eliminated in pretty bad fashion, but I think I will take that over a Game 5 total beat down where a positional player is likely to pitch.
  17. The Mark Kotsay thing is absolutely just comical. First of all he did not play the ball horribly. Does Nyjer Morgan catch that? Probably, but Kotsay was also the best offensive player by a mile that day. Go look at Gallardo's statline in that inning, friggen horrendous. I can't believe people still complain and think Kotsay was some tragedy in CF that day...if anything it was a wash having him in CF. If I was going to sum up that series with a single move I would probably pick having Marcum start Game 6. The dude was so clearly toast at that point it was sad...He arguably should never have never been a postseason starter and the fact with the season on the line he turned to Marcum was just pathetically sad. I remember not evening watching Game 6 because he started...result was predictable. Postseason with Marcum on mound: 1-8 LOSS 3-12 LOSS 6-12 LOSS
  18. Pass, cost would probably be too much for a pitcher that simply isn't that good. This is Chris Archer all over again. Everyone gets excited about his stuff or strikeout numbers, but results aren't actually top of the rotation. Homer prone (has increased year after year), walk prone, and his H/9 has increased the last three years. We can find a 3/4 starter somewhere else and not have to pay $10mil along with giving up prospects.
  19. "Just a Bit Outside." Shut it down. This is the perfect name. The restaurant is literally partially outside too (if the roof is open I suppose). Easy acronym ("JBO's" or "JaBO's"). Missed opportunity. Restaurant to be named later sounds like a funny quip that would be used in an article announcing the change if the name wasn't yet decided, but to actually call it that? Not smart. I was thinking just outside the walls of the playing field....but yah, what an entirely logical name on many levels.
  20. Yah seriously...it is mostly volunteer work (college athletes in some cases) and they get little to no training on the system etc. Just getting money for their cause. This restaurant is very unlikely (it won’t) to have those types of employees. Likely hired employees to bartender and wait tables. As for the name...epic fail. It’s funny at first because it is so dumb...if that is actually it yikes.
  21. The NLCS last year is where it begins and ends. They blew their chance at the World Series...golden opportunity. Destroyed. It’s fair to wonder the next time we will have such a promising chance...could be decades...who knows.
  22. I expect at least a 17+ point win. Anything can happen on any given day, but the Badgers seem better in just about every way if you ask me.
  23. Seems like a genius venture for Buffalo Wild Wings.
  24. I needed something replaced on my car under warranty (PTU) and it has been two months....still backordered. Yet thousands of new cars, exactly the same, have probably rolled off the assembly line in that same span. Of course I don't think that will even solve the problem I originally complained about (I think it is the rear dif.) so after waiting 3 or so months for this fix I will then just complain again and probably wait even longer for that. I am glad it isn't something making the car undrivable and not something I have to pay for. I just try to make a joke out of it, because that is kinda what it is.
  25. I think he would have been sent back out, but the leash would have been 0 feet long.
