  1. Wasn't the Cowboys O-Line crippled in this game? If not for that I wonder how much pressure we really would have been putting on Dak/Elliott. Our DBs also got torched badly. If not for Dak sucking on multiple throws this game would have been way different. For instance they should have been up 7-0 on a huge pass when Cooper was left wide open on their opening drive. Instead he threw it behind him and it turned into an INT. It was nice to see the offense have a great day, but once again I am left wondering if this defense is actually good.
  2. Rick, I appreciate what you bring to the forum....but you just went full "old man yells at cloud" on us.
  3. Elliott/Cooper scored 50 fantasy points for me and we won? That’s a good day for my teams.
  4. They need a solid veteran WR...the guys behind Adams should be like #4 options at best. Maybe MVS is a #3, but not ideally.
  5. Sad part is that is nowhere near the first time I have seen slapping the QBs helmet called.
  6. I’m honestly getting real tired of watching it. I watch the Packers if I happen to be sitting at home. The roughing the passer penalty change and now challenging penalties...it just keeps getting worse. It is getting really hard to watch.
  7. Our receivers flat out suck...Rodgers doesn’t have a single decent option outside of Adams.
  8. Aaron Jones trying to pull a Dante Hall there.
  9. These refs are absolutely just terrible. I get allowing some contact, but lord it’s getting ugly out there now.
  10. He plays half his time at SS right now. He did play a passable SS. Most scouts thought he could stick at SS if his bat played. He got moved the 2B because we had no 2B and a great young SS. Villar wasn't passable at SS and just marginally passable at 2B. He puts up decent numbers but his K rate is much higher than Arcia's. I've always felt that Arcia's issue is that his concentration wavers from AB to AB. His career BA with runners on is .267. It's .225 with the bases empty. That's a significant difference. He has never had a negative dWAR according to BRef. Fangraphs has him at -11 in 2016 at SS, -5.5 in 2017 at 2B, and -1.4 after 162 games of 2B/SS split almost 50/50 in 2019. The eye test didn’t say he was a disaster out there nor do the stats. He just is not that bad defensively. Not great, not good, maybe not average...but 100% passable.
  11. -5 Triples -33 Doubles -.340 OBP (not too shabby these days) And of course downplay HRs and SBs likes they don’t have incredible value. A guy stealing 40 bases with a near .800 OPS is pretty darn good. The boneheaded plays thing...so overblown. Gotta be honest man really odd take. If you don’t like him, fine, but he was a 4 WAR player...he was really good last year. He would start on A LOT of teams. Villar at SS > Arcia at SS....and I don’t think it is remotely close. That being said with an atrocity (defensively) at 2B already I wouldn’t really care to have Villar next to him.

  13. Technically Villar broke out in his age 25 season...but he also didn’t get an opportunity before then. So not sure that would be all that accurate, every player is different anyway. Should we still be waiting for Alcides Escobar to break out? My opinion is we clearly are not going to change Arcia. Maybe a change of scenery helps...but I doubt he improves here. We have tried for years with zero improvement.
  14. I was trying to figure out who made you so angry and why you were trying to get past the filter...took me a second.
  15. A couple things here. Yes, Villar had a nice season. With that said hindsight is 20/20, I'm not sure anyone really questioned the move at the time and it's much easier to put up those kind of numbers 40 games back of contention. I would almost venture to say at least 50% didn’t like that trade or found it confusing at best. Many didn’t like the Villar inclusion. It was a pretty questionable move even before Schoop ended up a joke for us and Villar played well with the Orioles.
  16. The only take away that seemed noteworthy was the Arcia comments. Openly critiquing his play last year (after already doing it in season) is pretty intriguing. Especially saying we need to get better on defense too. If we aren’t happy with his defense either how could we possibly go with him as the starter? Also makes me wonder if Perez is toast as that answer wasn’t exclusively towards Arcia. The rest was common sense or just GM babble.
  17. Cardinals have not sold out any of their postseason games yet. Not even their Sunday game and first postseason game in years. A little surprised.
  18. Look up any elite bullpen arm, actually any closer, ACTUALLY any bullpen arm. Tell me when you find a bunch of guys throwing a third pitch a notable amount...it is just is not very common at all. Heck Hader uses his third pitch more than the guys I looked up quick! Kimbrel literally doesn’t use one period. Not saying they don’t exist, but it’s really not useful. They use their elite pitches. No need to play around with an average third pitch. Mariano Rivera averaged a 7.0 H/9 and a 8.2 K/9 Josh Hader 4.5 H/9 and a 15.3 K/9 I think Hader makes up for it in other ways.
  19. 2 pitches is the problem? Can you imagine Mariano Rivera if he would have had more than 2 pitches? Man he just didn't last without that third pitch.
  20. I gave you multiple reason why he would. You have no evidence that he wanted to be here. I have a logical opinion, you have a logical opinion. Differing opinions is okay.
  21. Actually, I think I can bring something up and not have it be my opinion. I do it all the time for future reference. Do I think Shaw would have preferred to be released versus staying here all year in the minors? Yes, I do. Once again, why would he not want that? He would have got paid the same and a team likely would have scooped him up and given him playing time for league minimum. By staying in the minors all year he had no way to prove himself. With another team he could have latched on with someone and proven he was worth offering arbitration to or to secure a starting job going into 2020 with. Now he very well could not get offered arbitration and never got another chance to prove himself. Do I think he was demanding the Brewers release him? Probably not, doesn’t mean he didn’t wish it had happened. This actually makes no more assumptions than someone saying he was fine being here and was fine sitting around in the minors all year. So maybe give yourself a break too? There may be ‘no evidence to back it up’, but you guys also have zippo evidence he didn’t want to be released.
  22. I really doubt they would keep Gonzalez and Nelson. That’s a lot of money for two long relievers in the pen. I could see one, but both seems like a lot of money on a tight budget. I’d be surprised to see Gio back without an assured spot in the rotation.
  23. Coulda fooled me. What is it then? I mean, you literally said this - "Rumor had it Shaw was already unhappy with us and wanted to be released instead of rotting away his year in the minors. Not to mention he didn't seem to really enjoy the part time role even in September." You said right there he was unhappy with the team. Unhappy = mad, right? I personally did not say that ’right’ there. I said that was the rumor. He definitely was unhappy with the situation and I really doubt he was okay being in the minors and not being able to be in the majors to prove himself. Who would? No one.
  24. Actually that wasn’t my narrative at all, but carry on.
