  1. I read this and thought, no, the Bucks....the team and league no one gives two craps about outside of the Milwaukee area.
  2. It was not way out. Maybe....an inch. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-nationals/2019/10/01/599336?#,game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=play-by-play,game=599336 Turner swung on a way out pitch to strikeout, but it was not a full count.
  3. Catchers suck, Pina is a starting caliber guy. Probably middle of the pack production wise. He is an amazing back up because we basically have a starter as a back up. I just don't see spending money on Grandal as logical. We have a starting caliber guy in Pina and we can find a decent back up somewhere. With payroll tight having a top catcher seems like a luxury...not a priority. I am basing this off him finding a nice 3+ year deal...if he ends up only getting 2 years it is a much different story.
  4. UW footballs loss to Ohio State in 2017 was pretty brutal.
  5. I think Counsell made the right call with Hader. Strikeout HBP Strikeout At this point you are not taking him out, if you are clearly you just hate Hader. Two strikeouts and only a guy on first. Nearly off the hands broken bat single This is where it gets dicey, but I think if you look at the situation I don't think you are logically taking out Hader. End of the day the Brewers had two options: 1) Have Jordan Lyles pitch to Anthony Rendon. One of the best hitters in the game that tees off lefties and righties. 2) Have Josh Hader pitch to Juan Soto. I think I will take a broken arm Josh Hader against any lefty instead of pitching to Rendon with Lyles. I can see wanting to go to Lyles, but I don't think it was obvious and I don't think it is anywhere near his worst move this year. Sticking with Hader made a lot of sense. Unfortunately Hader decided to suck and we can't really afford that.
  6. Josh Hader was just as much of a weapon out of the pen this year as last. There is literally little to no evidence that points to Hader being a problem this year. It is absolutely ridiculous people are trying to make him out to be a big concern. All the talk about him giving up homers, yet overall his stats were similar and he didn't really blow many more games. 2018: 83.33% of losses and/or blown saves included multiple runs 2019: 27.27% of losses and/or blown saves included multiple runs 2018: 21.32% of appearances had an earned run given up 2019: 26.23% of appearances had an earned run given up. -25 multi inning appearances compared to 36 last year -18 times he came in with men on base compared to 14 last year There was not much difference in the amount of games he blew this year compared to last (about 2%). He was simply 'unlucky' compared to last year when it came to tie and/or one run games. If we had given Hader more 2+ run leads everyone would think he was man of the year or if had had simply given up those solo homers in a game where he had a multi run lead. By definition he was less effective this year by results, but it is pretty insane people are making him out to be some kind of concern. He could continue to give up homers at a 1.8/ per 9 rate and I have no worries we still have one of the best guys in the game at his position. A lot of it was simply giving him more game opportunities to fail in less overall innings of work.
  7. *Clears Throat* Yasmani Grandal's impact on this team is overrated and should not be a priority to sign. If the cost is an expensive 3 year deal walk away and spend it on someone else. Moustakas will be just as cheap and provide similar offense. I get Grandal plays a more premium position, but I don't believe his impact is so much more greater than Pina that it is worth tens of millions. First off offensively Grandal had an .850 OPS compared to Pina at .725. That is a large difference, but not that incredible. When taking into consideration defense I think the overall difference is greatly diminished. Pina put up 0.7 WAR in about 150 ABs where Grandal put up 2.6 WAR in about 500 ABs. I just don't think the production gap is big enough there to justify a major deal for Grandal. Depending on Grandal to keep hitting like an elite catcher for 3 years is risky business as is. He could turn into a sub .800 OPS catcher real quick and suddenly be average at best considering his defense. Just not worth the risk in my opinion. We are better off spending that money elsewhere. To me, considering we don't have an obvious 3B replacement either, Moustakas is a more valuable player and the better sign. Same impact, less money/risk.
  8. If Nelson comes back he is the long man in the pen. Early struggles and you dump him. He won't be cheap, BUUUT maybe we could swing it. We are getting high in the payroll department though. May not be worth the risk.
  9. I would not even try to attempt to answer this. Way too many variables going into the offseason what that rotation. Lyles back? Anderson gone to save money? Houser in? Gio? Davies is the only clear answer (outside of Woodruff).
  10. People nitpicking Hader and what his problem is. Next thing you know we will critique Yelich. As bad as Hader was this year (as they say) he was still one of the best relievers in the game. Are we really that upset he isn’t they best reliever ever or something?
  11. He gave up 15 freaking home runs. That is more than starters. And he choked away a division and knocked his team out of the playoffs in three days. That is terrible I think it’s completely fair to rip,him tonight. And gave up less than 5 hits per 9, less than 2.5 walks per 9, and about 16.5 Ks per 9. Things that most pitchers in baseball can’t touch in their wildest dreams. Keep grasping at one stat. His overall stats speak volumes.
  12. Incredible year by Hader being judged by two games. He was arguably just as good or better this year. He had some hiccups, but feast or famine....yah idk. Hader was negatively perceived this year because of a poor team giving him way too many 1 run games to blow. He just had very little room for error all too much.
  13. Agreed. I really want Pomeranz back...Knebel coming back and being a force is just a bonus that I won’t count on.
  14. The season is over and in my opinion can focus on building a true World Series potential roster. I’m a lot more optimistic than most going into next season. I think resigning Pomeranz and Moustakas are starts. Risks for different reasons, but I like what they add.
  15. Grisham gave the Nationals the lead...that is simply a fact. You can play the what if game had he come up with the ball...but he gave them the lead. The announcers made it seem like a play at home was possible...not sure how accurate that was. So maybe you could even argue he blew a chance to preserve the lead...but I certainly won’t go that far.
  16. Grisham choked hardcore. Misses a ball by feet in the outfield...quite embarrassing to say the least. Maybe it would have mattered...maybe not. Regardless what a moment to fall flat on your face and look like a tee ball player. And Hader...the main blame...yikes. I don’t blame leaving him in against Soto. He was our guy, the match up made sense...but thus we just weren’t good enough. I wish they would have made the special September something to remember. Instead they choked their chance for the division against a 90 loss team and then blew it in embarrassing fashion in the Wild Card game.
  17. Failure of a season. Not because of Stearns, but because of the players when it mattered most. A Wild Card appearance? Who cares.
  18. Hader didn't have command. That's not the whole team. True, inability to field a ground ball is the fault of Hader....mmmm
  19. Yup, that is this team. No Knebel/Hader/Jeffress/etc. combo this year. Hader has been great in multi inning work this year.
