  1. I think this team could surprise if it can get past the WC game. Hope we can all back off the ledge after that nice win.
  2. Shockingly betting line still has Baez as the big favorite today. I think the batting title could really help his case...a lot.
  3. Our odds to win the division are 4.2% and our chances to make the postseason are 97.9%. We are twice as likely to win the division, but here we are worrying about the latest Brewers late season collapse. This reminds me of when the offense has a big day, everyone freaks out like we have a juggernaut offense ready to break out, and then the next two days we score nothing...then we revert to needing CPR to get them through the rest of the season. I hope we win and the Rockies lose because our magic # would get 1/4 of it cut off. Its that small and there is a reason our odds are at 98%.
  4. Braun stunk most of September 2008 but had a grand slam walk off in the last home stand and the 8th inning home run against the Cubs in game 162. Braun was great in September 2011, as well as pretty much the whole year. He hit the game winning three run home run in the bottom of the 8th against the Marlins that clinched the division with a few games to play. Also had a walk-off homer against the Rockies in mid-September. No one really remembers that like 2008 because in 2011 we were coasting into the playoffs.
  5. Exactly. I know we're all predetermined to be pessimists with how the Brewers have been the last 30ish years, plus with many of us being Bucks fans too, but this is just the nature of baseball. We were the hottest team in the league like 5 days ago but now you lose a few close games and they're done. Would really like the W tonight just due to the mathematical advantage it gives, not out of any kind of grand indictment on how the team is, clutchness, choking, etc. I mean heck if we want to use small samples why exactly are we scared of getting caught by a team 1-4 in their last 5 games? Maybe we are scared of the D Backs. They have 4 wins!...and 13 losses in September. That is how I feel like we are with the panic in the last day.
  6. A slow stretch of 5 games and the sky is falling? We have gone 2-3 for five games and Brewer fans are losing it. We are going to have good and bad stretches...that is baseball. 2-3 isn't even that bad and it is a silly short amount of time. We just got off a 7-2 stretch including two series wins against the NLs best team.
  7. In a weak year for MVP candidates I think it is troublesome. Cain can easily get just as much media talk as Yelich (and often does). That hurts Yelich because he isn't the big show in town. That being said it didn't hurt Braun who won it when Fielder placed #3. If anything I actually think it hurts Cain more than it will hurt Yelich.
  8. Christian Yelich getting a bit of love after his second cycle. I believe MLB Network was touting him as the MVP and as did Sports Illustrated.
  9. Sounds like something my health teacher would have called an STD character.
  10. Well with the division all but lost lets hold onto this wild card lead and have that game at home. I don't mind either opponent...but I would prefer the Cardinals for whatever reason over the Rockies.
  11. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/09/14/jhoulys-chacin-board-move-up-brewers-rotation/1295903002/
  12. As we know the Brewers will go Jhoulys Chacin in the WC game if that is what it comes to. So who is everyone else starting? For this exercise we will go with the safe bet that the game is at Miller Park. My Pick: Wade Miley
  13. MiLB baseball isn't much different than NWL in a lot of ways. The main draw is a good time, not really the product on the field. Having a AAA team would definitely be a bigger draw, but playing miserable games in April/May will take away most if not all the gain you see in added interest for talent level. The Mallards also have less games which makes it easier to have a nice crowd every day. Once you have as many home games as a AAA team the lack of population the Madison area has will be quite apparent. I'm sure the Brewers could sustain it, but it wouldn't excel and I don't see how you get a team to move here when our promise would be bottom half attendance numbers. I guess Des Moines has a AAA team so you could maybe argue teams could travel to Madison too. The New Orleans BabyCakes need to move though. 3,850? Yah, Madison could outdo that. I see quite a few teams floating around 5,500 which isn't hard to believe. To find AAA numbers I checked the International League...which does way better for attendance. It doesn't matter though. Brewers would never want a team in Madison.
  14. Is the fact that the Mallards play there a deterrent for the city? Do they think they could support two baseball teams? No, they would just take out the Mallards...simple. The deterrent is they have no good reason to put their team there. It would just eat into their own ticket sales. How fast do we need guys to get to the MLB squad from AAA? When has it ever been a problem? I also don't think Madison could support AAA baseball. Their 6,300 average attendance is incredible for the NWL, but compared to the AAA teams that would put them pretty darn close to last. They get those numbers from prime time summer baseball. Their April/May attendance would be a sad story like pushing that number way down. Maybe the attraction of better talent helps that a bit, but I bet the prices are higher for everything when it comes to AAA. The A-ball team is already in Wisconsin...that is the kind of league they would excel in. Maybe A+ or AA is a possibility, but no league is even remotely close to us.
  15. I am sure there are plenty of drugs on the Green Bay streets to keep him happy.
  16. Before we get too excited this two year agreement will be in the old ballpark. We have to hope the partnership lasts much longer to reap the benefits of the new stadium they want to build.
  17. Haha that mascot is so bad it is good.
  18. His losses: 8 innings 2 ER 7 innings 1 ER 6 innings 3 ER 6 innings 3 ER 8 innings 2 ER 7 innings 3 ER 8 innings 2 ER 6 innings 1 ER 7 innings 2 ER He has only thrown two games (not including the early May games where something weird must have happened) where it wasn't a QS. They were games 1 and 3 of his season! One was opening day where he went 5 2/3 of one run ball and his third game he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings. Funny enough they won both of those games.
  19. There just hasn't been much love for Yelich. We might get a better picture once writers vote and/or announce how they decided. Looking at Vegas and the limited articles we have seen on the MVP topic Yelich seems to be a bit of a darkhorse. Too bad the Mets suck because I think DeGrom would run away with it if he was on a winning team. That is about the only person I would take over Yelich right now. Personally I think it should go: 1) Yelich 2) DeGrom 3) Goldschmidt 4)Cain 5)Baez Something about picking DeGrom, who pitches under zero pressure, just seems like a big turn off to me.
  20. True, but it's good to learn from mistakes too. A lot of analytics had Yelich pegged for a power surge at Miller Park, and they. Analytics actually didn't peg Yelich for much of a power surge at all. As mentioned his launch angle wasn't all that significant from his swing. Thus simply moving to Miller Park wasn't going to necessarily give him a big power surge. The big power surge was on the assumption he would change his swing to favor Miller Park a bit more. I don't know if that is the reason for his surge or not though.
  21. Depends on how you look at it. The fact he isn’t getting much consideration recently makes it pretty hard to turn the tides in 10 games. Though a flashy game like tonight can help. I just haven’t seen much if an true #1 consideration. Likely he gobbles up a ton of #2-#5 votes. I think someone like Baez will garner the majority of the first place votes to win it. NOT THAT I DONT WANT YELICH TO WIN IT! I just don’t see in a highly competitive MVP race a small market guy winning it. I think it is better to start hot and then be really good vs. be really good and then get hot. People have been talking about Baez and other for months. We are just starting to see Yelich love. Hard to fill the bandwagon at the end...easier to keep them on.
  22. I haven’t seen one person call Yelich the MVP...not a single one. In fact many lean toward Yelich not even being the best player on our team. I really doubt he can win the MVP. Baez gets all the talk among a few other players. Yelich is always on the fringes of MVP chatter. I’d put his odds at less than 10%. Though maybe tonight gives him some more credit.
  23. It actually means a lot of things: https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/MIP Hopefully all appropriate.
  24. I agree. I think we all knew it would come to this at the end of this deal but it does hurt. Problem only if he and Brewers don't face the reality that he is not who he was. Should not be an every day player at this point although his glove has been a revelation. Sad day when it’s a revelation for him to be an average at best fielder. Oh the fall was mighty.
  25. Domingo Santana is a MLB bat. I’d like to see him get a chance again next year.
