  1. He pitched 3 innings in two days prior to yesterday...not at all shocking. It is mid-August, not mid-September. Too early to kill the pen.
  2. Freddy Peralta's velocity seems to be getting a bit iffy. I know he likes to throw two different fastballs, but he seemed consistently around 89 today.
  3. 95 pitches and he is into unchartered territory with his total innings this year. Lets just call it a day.
  4. Well four runs should be enough at this point. Any trouble and the big guns will just put out the flames. Would be HUGE to not use them though.
  5. I would pinch hit for him honestly. He has been cruising though. I feel like from time to time we need to be a little more aggressive with our starter to save our premium arms. If we have a multi-run lead give Peralta at least one batter to get on base. Have someone ready right away though, which Counsell seems to rarely do.
  6. I am not watching on TV so I am not aware of what may be going on in the bullpen, but if Peralta's spot in the line-up comes up with the bases empty and 2 outs I am sending him to the plate. Actually I would let him bat regardless even if the plan is to take him out of the game pitching wise.
  7. Unfortunately Peralta is due up 7th so likely gets PH for in the bottom of the 6th even if he is still cruising.
  8. Cain especially. Feels all too common. Cain also likes to get into "walk or bust" mode a lot of times too, which often leads to watching strike 3.
  9. He was too busy swinging at junk the start of the year. He was "unlucky" to some extent, but your numbers are going to suck when you have the plate discipline he was having...it was really bad. He only has 8 K's in his last 67 PAs! WOW! 3 in his last 30. That in my opinion shows it is way more than balls finally dropping.
  10. I don't know how you guys don't get this yet. COUNSELL DOESN'T CHALLENGE. They get on the phone every time and let someone who gets some slow motion replays make the decision.
  11. I hate Coles...I hate Sedar...but the person in charge of replay reviews? How does he still have a job!?!?!?!? Come on.
  12. That always frustrates me too now that I am back up north and closer to Minneapolis. I personally don't mind playing them every year to be honest. It is always nice to play an AL partner that is close by and a similar market to us. I feel like it is a brotherly game, not a rivalry. I also enjoy Manfred sending baseball to places it usually isn't. Domestically and Internationally.
  13. "Best Strikezone Judgement" Would anyone on our team make the Top 100? 200?
  14. That's a dangerous "if" in my opinion. I think they are fairly comparable to us if their aging pitching can hold it together. They have more financial resources, but we also have a stronger farm system...especially when we talk about pitching.
  15. TBD: Ring Ceremony TBD: Banner Unveiling Also appears we are just going to end the season mid-August (schedule is still being updated into the calendar) https://www.mlb.com/brewers/schedule/2019-03 Thoughts: -We play the Angels (Mike Trout) on the road. -We play the brutal AL West. -We play the Cardinals NINE times before April is done. -Easy end of the year.
  16. That is four hitters...nice, but not a powerhouse core. Heck that core isn't even helping their offense be great right now. They just went and got another hitter because they have struggled offensively. Darvish just ended a terrible year with an injury, Lester is getting really old, Hendricks doesn't appear to be super special anymore, Jose Quintana doesn't seem to be the ace the were hoping for...quite far from it. Their rotation is an ticking time bomb, ready to blow up. Next year it will technically be led by 35 year old Jon Lester. I am waiting for a 2018 Nationals type disappointment in the next few years.
  17. I guess that is possible too. If some is burned up for days anyway whoever is going to help you least is going to go. Of course they need an option to send down even if we won't end up using the option in the end because of September.
  18. I swear I posted this (maybe the wrong forum), but my guesses were Broxton and Burnes. With September almost here it makes sense to send down the guys you least need because options won't play a factor. Broxton - Obvious Burnes - Less obvious, but I predict he gets burned for a huge chunk of innings at some point right before Soria can come back. We wouldn't use Burnes for 4-5 days anyway at that point and if Soria comes back this weekend it is pretty much no loss not having Burnes till September.
  19. Yah....no way Knebel would have gotten Snell.
  20. Braden Looper was a one year deal that costed very little. Jeff Suppan didn't really make sense before or after. Better examples for going with the generic brand would be Lohse, Wolf, and Garza. I would say 2/3 of those worked out pretty well which is nothing to sneeze at considering how bad some of the pitcher as that age/tier can be. Definitely better to avoid going after those guys, but it is what we had to do at the time.
  21. The Nationals were the ones who refused a trade and pulled Harper back. The Nationals could have dumped Harper (and his full salary on the Dodgers) if they so pleased. Obviously with Harper there was no way they were going to just let Harper go for nothing. With Murphy...maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't have. They essentially did.
  22. He is substantially worse than Thames, actually. Substantially. Despite his time in the OF, Thames has basically been slightly below average in total this year defensively. Davis has played 11 games in the OF and tallied -1.3 WAR out there. In 11 games. Seriously guys, his bat is nice if you have the DH. Otherwise his defense erodes much of his offensive value. dWAR over a 11 game span....come on man. You think he is really worth about -16+ WAR per year defensively? He doesn't even have a single error in his 80 or so innings. That's just impossible to believe he is that bad. Of course maybe things have changed not playing the OF much these days. With us he actually ran good routes and got good jumps (severely underrated and under noticed by novice fans). Was his arm weak? Yah, but that is incredibly overrated by fans constantly. Yelich has a trash arm and no one really bats an eye. With us he was about a -1.0 WAR guy defensively (I would agree there), but that surely was not bad at all with the offense he provided...especially in his last year. Stearns likely thought it was a fluke and sold high. Too bad for us it wasn't and our light trade package turned to junk if Nottingham doesn't provide anything. There is no way Eric Thames is better than Davis in the OF. Eric Thames shuffles and side steps to fly balls in the gap, he can't get grounders without looking like a tumble weed, and looks so uncomfortable you wonder if he thinks he has no clothes on. It is brutal. Nothing is easy for him out there.
  23. Probably the real reason. Berry and Santana will both be gone come September 1st.
  24. Because if they get dumped on us we have to find a spot for them and pay them a lot of money for a month.
  25. Welp, these are the kind of games you just shake your head at. Should have been a huge win pulling us within 2 and pad our WC lead. Instead we play like little leaguers. Can’t afford these in tight races against garbage teams.
