  1. He has hit about .219 in that time with an OPS near .500. In other news Villar has 2016-like stats so far with the Orioles.
  2. Aguilar and his utter lack of holding back on anything these days coming to strikeout on balls out of the strike zone.
  3. It’s too early to say what David Stearns is going to do long term. I don’t mean to rain on the parade, but I don’t think this will be much different than most teams. A short stint of competing and then slowly taper off into some kind of rebuild. We are a small market...sorry. It would take incredible perfectionism to be good consistently without rebuilds in between. Everyone points to the Cardinals and says that is how we need to be. They are closer to our market size and don’t depend on massive FA deals. THEIR PAYROLL IS $150MIL!! We aren’t going to be them either people. Consistently winning is the biggest pipe dream there is in my opinion. I’m not saying we need to push all the chips into the middle for the next few years, but man you need to put effort into good teams when you have them. If you focus too much on consistently winning you may end up consistently average. Then when it starts to taper you either tear it down accepting defeat or pull a 2012-2014 where you pour into it just to keep it treading water.
  4. Official scorer must feel bad for Schoop if that was called a hit.
  5. Lol...I’m not a Counsell hater by any means, but to call him the best is hysterical.
  6. How expensive is Moustakas and what are you trading for. Simply put unless you are going to get proven MLB rotation help I don’t get the point. I like Shaw’s bat more and he is still cheap. If you keep Moustakas you add significant payroll towards the offense leaving little for pitching help. I doubt Shaw gets you a lot or more importantly pitching help.
  7. My son just crashed his toy train and all the little people fell out. I’m thinking of putting Brewers jerseys on them all to be honest.
  8. Didn't someone have him pegged to be our 2019 opening day starter after his first game? Might as well pick from a hat anyway.
  9. People had him on Hiura's prospect level headlining a trade for DeGrom. It was painful. Just another guy tricking hitters that aren’t familiar. Sometimes I wonder if a team should just promote a guy with a tricky delivery/good pitch for the stretch run. Feels like half the time those guy act like aces.
  10. Not saying Lorenzo Cain should trust him persay..but should not go colliding with other guys. This isn’t the first time he nearly got into a car accident in the OF. His entire career he dead sprints for anything he thinks he can catch and doesn’t really pay attention.
  11. and yet another reason he shouldn't be in the OF... To be honest Thames really should be the one catching that ball. He was camping under it while Cain was flying over from CF.
  12. I remember when everyone was over the moon about Peralta...haha.
  13. This team went from so fun to watch, to not even looking forward to their games.
  14. They aren’t the same, but Freddy reminds me a lot of Wily. No joke.
  15. What exactly did we lose “selling” the farm? Michael Brantley? Honestly is pretty overrated in my mind. He had one stellar season and now a bunch of nice, but not great seasons. Lorenzo Cain? Okay, but that is one guy and we haven’t been lacking OFers. If we still had Cain we likely never discover Gomez who was just as good and obviously the guys we got trading him. We didn’t lose hardly anything “selling the farm”. Most flamed out. People complain we never have pitching...well selling the farm surely wasn’t the problem there. The problem was never replenishing the farm via the draft and most notably the 1st round. We never really replenished the farm until we rebuilt which meant trading MLB players. We haven’t had a drafted player from that round make a big impact since Ryan Braun! Seriously!? If you are going to draft like crud you will never be a consistent winner. One huge run and another small one is pretty good then.
  16. #FreeNateOrf ...from the 40-man roster.
  17. It is a load of garbage that we should just keep shrugging our shoulders because we weren't expecting to compete this soon anyway. We are competing and the team is good...time to make it great. Not be happy to not be losing 90+ games like a lot of teams experience for years. I think a good majority (if not well over half) hate the "all in" idea. Because they think that is what ruined 2012-2016...which is wrong because what killed us was drafting like a toddler was calling the shots. At some point we may need to trade even more of the farm and maybe have one of the bottom 5-10 systems in baseball. I am guessing that time comes in 2019 or 2020 to be honest, by trades and then by promotions too. There just comes a time where you will use your system to make your MLB roster better rapidly. Hopefully the downturn can be replenished quickly by drafting correctly.
  18. If they miss the postseason (I think we squeeze in to be honest) they are going to go really hard next year. After two years wetting the bed in the second half they are going to do everything possible to make sure it won't happen again. Honestly if we miss I fully expect major moves next year. Whether that be before the season or in July...I expect big moves. All this "Well we weren't expected to be done rebuilding yet until 2020" is a load of garbage. This team has proven it has elite talent and can win games. 2017 was no fluke and this years team is once again no fluke. That is two postseason contenders in a row. The time is now..in the next few years to make a nice run at some World Series trophies. David Stearns needs to figure out how to put this team over the top. He has made some great moves and done some clever things, but so far it has amounted to nothing...just a borderline playoff contender SO FAR. I know people don't like the "all in" approach, but if we have built a borderline contender and it starts idle as one it might be a good idea before it starts to decline with no real runs. This year isn't over...far from it. This team could get hot and win the division or take a wild card spot. If not 2019 will be a very telling year.
  19. Why couldn’t they? The timeline for such an injury is less than a year? Are you a Brewers doctor? It wasn’t crazy to think he would pitch this year, probably was a safe assumption. I wouldn’t have made roster decisions planning it...but to expect him to pitch was reasonable. Nelson healed slowly and his return to pitching even slower...happens.
  20. Reviews aren’t really Counsells decision? Someone decides that watching replays really quick? Our OF coach?
  21. Well this one is trending bad already. Would have been great to win this game...instead here we are down early. These are the kind of wins we need in the year. Instead we just aren’t pulling off big wins. At the end of the year that is the difference.
  22. Yah, I am sure he will get a raise. Being out the entire year means it will be minimal though. Nothing to lose sleep over.
  23. I hope Jimmy Nelson can get back to strength. It’s a bit concerning how slowly it is taking him. I understand everyone goes at a different pace...but if he fails to make it back this year, that’s going painfully slow.
