  1. That would be brilliant but I'd guess MLB would clamp down on any attempts to subvert. In either case, I thought I had read where that draft pick wasn't a deal breaker type of issue for them. I bet you could skirt by and not have MLB stop it. The odds a player gets a QO and then signs for near $50mil is unlikely. MLB can’t really prove you are trying to sneak under unless it’s millions upon millions of easy to get incentives. As long as the player accepts the contract what is there to argue? Teams intentionally do things to avoid vesting options and to me that is much much worse. Would it cause incentives to be included when considering if it is >$50mil in the next CBA, maybe.
  2. Is there anything that protects Vogt from getting dumped due to injury? Or does anything special happen releasing an arbitration guy if he is injured?
  3. Except all players and sports aren’t created equal. Another problem that student housing you won’t give them a lot of times is paid for by athletic boosters to put those kids worthy of being paid in them. That’s the problem. Paying them is waaaay more complicated than people want to make it. I’d be in favor of them having the ability to make money off their own name if they can. Trying to get school to pay them outside of their tuition and board is one slippery slope of problems.
  4. It makes sense in theory until you trade the proven guy on a contending team and the replacement(say Phillips) is a total bust. Trading 100% known guys for guys who have a 70%+ to dissapoint greatly is a sure fire way to kill your competing team and end up in the same rebuilding window you tried to avoid. That is high risk for questionable high reward. I’d love to see a team do this because I bet it would end up terribly. Look at how many major players get traded and the whole package ends up dissapointing 5 years down the line.
  5. They were shopping Domingo Santana in hopes of getting MLB pitching...not prospects. Thornburg was also traded for an MLB guy in Shaw and even Stearns didn’t expect us to already be competing so that was more of a rebuild move. That wasn’t really shopping guys early to save money or keep the system flowing for long term competing.
  6. Braun is not going anywhere....
  7. That IGT negativity is already in mid season form.
  8. Jonathan Lucroy is not talking a one year show me deal to back up Pina. That is a straight fantasy. If he takes a one year deal he will go where he is considered top dog.
  9. I don't think Burnes has a shot at the opening day roster, but it has nothing to do with an extra year through arby. The Brewers decided to promote Arcia towards the end of the season costing them a year of control and you are trying to tell me suddenly Burnes has to sit so we can save a little money down the road? Yah, doesn't make sense.
  10. They already said they want a 8 man pen...so I doubt it.
  11. No, it went down to 20% before he bailed out.
  12. Hmm...I have Spectrum and don't get that channel. Must not have the right package :/ To FoxSportsGo you go.
  13. Aren't they testing out that "guy on second" in spring training for extras thing? They have been throwing some pretty weird things out there.
  14. Otani debuts against us on Saturday.
  15. Totally get it, but don't say I didn't warn you with the title of the thread No, I get it. I like prediction threads and can't wait till we do a "Brewer Leaders" one for stats/titles. Just feels really really early for it.
  16. Then don't post in this thread. Your posts like this and the one in the minor league thread are not needed. Thanks for your opinion. I don't understand why this thread is being posted prematurely. Why not wait till the end of ST? I get it we are antsy and want to roll out the prediction threads(they are fun to do and nice to look back on), but there is likely to be big changes for many teams in the next month. I'm guessing many would change their predictions at the start of the season.
  17. I’m not making a useless prediction with so many FAs still out there. Seems really really pointless.
  18. They build pro size stadiums in a few years. This probably isn’t that crazy especially where there isn’t inclement weather(for the most part).
  19. I like giving Villar a chance and rolling with what we have. However, I suspect Walker is getting real cheap and I really wouldn’t mind having a safer bet at 2B instead.
  20. [sarcasm]I don’t think it is Cobb signing elsewhere. That would mean HighHeat would have to delete his account and I don’t think I’d call that bad news.[/sarcasm]
  21. Without reading what you said because it is something we talk about every year: I could say the same thing and make the same type of argument every single year.
  22. You don’t need firepower at the top of a rotation to win game, hello 2011 Brewers. Adding a starter could give us a ridiculously deep rotation with really good 4/5/6 guys. That would make up for any lack of firepower. Non flashy things win games to.
  23. What would have been 10000x better is not quantifying it as mound visits, but the actual time taken. Give each team 2 minutes for mound visits. Sometimes a mound visit take 5 seconds. That will count as 1/6 of your opportunities? Seriously?
  24. I had a Fitbit Blaze and loved it for it’s fitness tracking accuracy. After about 6 months it started acting up and I complained so they sent me a new unit. When they told me the warranty doesn’t get extended for the new unit and they pretty much gaurantee it to live a year I sold the new one. There are so many complaints about reliability and life for them. I opted to get an Apple Watch because I wanted more smart watch capabalities and the reliability. I don’t really use it for fitness tracking because I got the Series 2 and it isn’t the most accurate when it comes to tracking of fitness stuff. I have it set up to, but I don’t check it. I’d love to recommend a Fitbit, but I think they are junk when it comes to reliability. If you want one I would not trust the Blaze or their new flagship unit. I’d check online reviews. There are quite a few articles that go over how accurate each watches sensors are. Some are more accurate than others.
