  1. Hard to knock the guy because his O is better than I expected, but when his bottom half is pulling off that outside slider is tough to reach. He can look bad some AB's He is young so it is ok, but it is sadly quite true. Unfortunately a lot of times they come when we could really use a good AB.
  2. avoid DP type of move How does the runner at first avoid a DP? I would think in a tie game like this having an extra pinch hitter and keeping Shaw's bat in the game are much better options Most likely way is for Perez to get to second to break up throw to first. I would have rather not PR too. Counsell gets paid to manage though.
  3. avoid DP type of move. Faster runner less likely to hit into the DP.
  4. I'd be mad at Susac, but he probably even agrees he shouldn't be playing...ever.
  5. Woah, according to who?
  6. Counsell has been horrible with RISP. Why he doesn't just PH Brent Suter in those situations I will never understand.
  7. The players seem to really like Counsell...can't say the same about the guy before him.
  8. People say this won't move the needle, but how many games in the last month have been lost by a single run? I think quite a few have been extremely close. Never know what a small improvement could do.
  9. Well it's not child's play for Ray, Clark, et al. Hiura by all measures is the real deal at least at bat and at the 9th pick in the draft he darn well better be. Trent Clark was a high school pick and much younger at Wisconsin. Corey Ray didn't really play in Wisconsin If part of your assumption that he will be a fast mover is the fact he was the #9 pick would Corey Ray, a #5 pick, make you not have that assumption? You can't assume a guy will move fast. It is like drafting for need, setting up for failure.
  10. Also I am not sure why trading for a 1.5 month rental effects a guy we just drafted two months ago. This guy likely won't even be around by October.
  11. How on earth do we know Hiura is close? Because of a high BA in A ball? That's child's play for a college guy. Also I watched him do infield drills a few days ago...it left a lot to be desired. This guy could be two years away or four. Assuming he is close is foolish. Taylor Jungmann was drafted as "very advanced almost MLB ready". That turned out...not accurate.
  12. So people hate Garza for that reason, but those same people probably love Braun. Seems logical.
  13. I support Stearns approach this season. He is essentially doing a little bit, but sacrificing little. We aren't in position to really buy nor sell.
  14. Way to end it Shaw...wow. Well way to fight offense. It was a nice try. Hopefully this was the start of something.
  15. Bases empty and the pitcher is trying to deflect a ball with his foot. He really tries his best to suck.
  16. Hoping the bullpen doesn't deflate the excitement. This could be a big boost even if we lose.
  17. My god it is 10-9............ That was essentially a 2-run wild pitch. Pressure was there and Lorenzen absolutely cracked.
  18. Underwood, Smokies stop Shuckers' winning streak on Friday Biloxi suffers just their second loss in their last 11 games By Biloxi Shuckers Travis Hissong worked 3.1 innings of relief on Friday and allowed two runs on three hits with four strikeouts (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Biloxi's starter, Luis Ortiz, couldn't get through an inning and the offense tallied two hits on the entire night. Not surprisingly that equated to a 6-0 loss to Tennessee. Dustin DeMuth had the only extra base hit with a double and Jacob Nottingham had the other hit for the Shuckers. Ortiz just didn't have it in his return giving up two big flys on his way to four earned runs in his 2/3 inning. Forrest Snow had a solid outing in relief going three strong racking up four K's. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Luis Ortiz (0.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 1 BB) started the game while Travis Hissong (3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K), Taylor Williams (1.0 IP, H, 2 K), Forrest Snow (3.0 IP, 2 H, 4 K), and Quintin Torres-Costa (1.0 IP, 2 K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Jacob Nottingham (1-2) Dustin DeMuth (1-2, 2B) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Shuckers offense explodes...for first XBH on the night...and only. Biloxi Top of the 6th Pitching Change: Preston Morrison replaces Duane Underwood Jr. , batting 9th. Dustin DeMuth doubles (17) on a line drive to center fielder Charcer Burks. Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Blake Allemand replaces Forrest Snow. Blake Allemand flies out to right fielder David Bote. Javier Betancourt grounds out, shortstop Ozzie Martinez to first baseman Yasiel Balaguert. Dustin DeMuth to 3rd. Jacob Nottingham hit by pitch. With Gabriel Noriega batting, Jacob Nottingham advances to 2nd on defensive indifference. Gabriel Noriega strikes out on a foul tip.
