  1. I'm just going to say I enjoy the art of framing and catchers that are actually good receivers. It provides another skill to make yourself better than your opponent. It would be a shame to lose that.
  2. Danzig it sounds like you would call pitches an inch out of the zone "wrong". If that is the case it is time to shut down MLB Gameday because that's just getting ridiculous. That is the entire problem with this. People want to perfect this thing down to the centimeter. After every inch let's break out the ruler to see if it was a strike or not. One day people were flipping out in the IGT because a ball literally brushed the strike zone and was called a ball. To know for sure I would have had to blow up the picture and look at pixels. That's not a wrong call. That is a borderline pitch that can be called either way and everyone should be fine with it. I see a few realistic options and one crazy one all way better than robot umps: 1) Do nothing, but find a better way to train umpires. Find a way to fire the bad ones or at least make it easier for future years as these old guys probably aren't leaving no matter what we try to do. 2) Give each team a few challenges that the batter must use IMMEDIATELY if he feels the call was wrong. The first batter for each team will effectively waste all of them and probably be wrong each time. People will realize the umps actually do a pretty good job. If you are actually smart and don't waste them you can change that one pitch that actually hurts you with runners on base etc. 3) Ban FoxTrax and other similar on TV visual aids that show viewers where the ball ended up. This, in my opinion, is gets everyone fired up over every single wrong call even if it is a hair wrong. It's ridiculous. 90% of the calls people get mad at probably wouldn't even know it was wrong if FoxTrax wasn't telling them.
  3. three starts in a row? Take a small breather man. If we overreacted over small smaples Jimmy Nelson would be in AAA. Making a move just to make one is pointless.
  4. Shuckers avoid being no-hit by Generals, but fall 2-1 Freddy Peralta struck out seven over 5.1 innings on Friday By Biloxi Shuckers Freddy Peralta has 68 strikeouts over his first 47.2 innings pitched as a Shucker (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: The Shuckers tried to mount a late rally in the 9th with their first hits of the game, but fell short in a 2-1 loss to Jackson. The General's starter took his no hit bid into the 9th inning, but a pair of hits to start the inning ended his bid at history. Unfortunately the Shuckers couldn't get Dustin Houle in to score the tying run stranding him on 2nd. Freddy Peralta went 5.1 innings of two run ball while striking out seven Jackson hitters. Luis Ortiz pitched in relief Friday night going two innings while giving up a run. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Freddy Peralta (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 10 K) started the game while Javier S (2.0 IP, 3K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Tyrone Taylor (0-0, RBI) Dustin Houle (1-3, 2B) Angel Ortega (1-3, R) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Angel Ortega ends the no hitter. Biloxi Top of the 9th Biloxi Top of the 9th Angel Ortega singles on a soft ground ball to second baseman Vladimir Frias. Dustin Houle doubles (9) on a fly ball to right fielder Kelly Dugan. Angel Ortega to 3rd. Tyrone Taylor out on a sacrifice fly to left fielder Jamie Westbrook. Angel Ortega scores. Pitching Change: Joey Krehbiel replaces Frank Duncan, batting 9th. Johnny Davis flies out to left fielder Jamie Westbrook. Troy Stokes Jr. strikes out swinging.
  5. Are you an MLB umpire? Your job is different than that of an MLB umpire. I'm sure you understand that. The very best major league hitters fail at their job over 60% of the time. Exactly my point. Though MLB hitters are on the extreme end of exceeding while failing a good chunk of the time.
  6. Everything points to a poor start by Matt Garza...not a good start to his night.
  7. Are you an MLB umpire? Your job is different than that of an MLB umpire. I'm sure you understand that.
  8. Good thing divisions aren't won on paper! Or else the Cubs would already have 100 wins and we would be pushing 90 wins. Let's the games play out who saw this a week ago? 2 months? Start of season?
  9. Don't forget the aging Jon Lester.
  10. We don't need computer umps. One of the worst ideas people constantly preach for. What need to be done is improving the current system so it is more accurate. I don't k ow if it is the union or what, but some umps suck and need to find a new career. This was not a huge issue 5 years ago. Now with all the technology love people literally are throwing giant fits every time a strike is a cm off the strike zone. This game does not need to be called perfectly.
  11. It is a bunch of average teams that are going to play eachother a ton from here on out. This division is a giant crapshoot between three teams. The Cubs schedule is favorable for creating some distance, but at the end of the day it will be anyones to take come the end of September as the Cards/Crew both get 4 game series vs. Cubs. If no one creates distance the last 11 days are going to be wild.
  12. Stokes Jr. homers to cap another comeback win in extras Shuckers improve to a league-best 10-3 in August and remain a 1/2 game back in division By Biloxi Shuckers Troy Stokes Jr. smashed his fourth Biloxi home run in tonight's 4-2 win over Jackson. (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: It was a 4-2 extra innings win for the Biloxi Shuckers as they chase the top of the standings. Angel Ortega had the big hit to tie it up in the top of the 9th and Troy Stokes Jr. broke that tie for good with a homerun to left in the 10th inning. The Shuckers also got an insurance run off the bat of Blake Allemand, but it ended up not being needed as Jorge Lopez shut the door 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 10th. Aaron Wilkerson went a solid six innings while giving up two runs. The Shucker's bullpen tossed a combined four innings of scoreless ball. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Aaron Wilkerson (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 K) started the game while Quintin Torres-Costa (0.2 IP), Travis Hissong (1.1 IP, H, BB, 2 K) Jorge Lopez (2.0 IP, 2 K)provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Dustin DeMuth (1-2, 2 R, 3 BB) Blake Allemand (2-5, 2 RBI) Troke Stokes Jr. (1-5, R, RBI, HR) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Troy Stokes Jr. go ahead HR. Biloxi Top of the 10th Pitching Change: J. R. Bradley replaces Keegan Long, batting 9th. Johnny Davis bunt grounds out softly, third baseman Marty Herum to first baseman Kevin Cron. Troy Stokes Jr. homers (4) on a fly ball to left field. Tyrone Taylor doubles (3) on a ground ball to left fielder Jamie Westbrook. Dustin DeMuth walks. Jake Gatewood pops out to second baseman Daniel Lockhart. Blake Allemand singles on a line drive to right fielder Victor Reyes. Tyrone Taylor scores. Dustin DeMuth to 3rd. Angel Ortega strikes out swinging.
  13. Keon Broxton is beyound the normal streaky. I think it is a given when someone says streaky they aren't talking about normal ups and down of a season. Keon Broxton goes weeks where if Yovani Gallardo was still on the team he would probably pinch hit for Broxton late in games. He can be pathetically bad.
  14. He kind of reminds me of Chris Carter(a better version). Tends to be streaky with a lot of huge negatives(Ks and the brutal slumps). I think he has value, but teams are going to be beating eachother up for him. Limitted demand causing a limitted return. We have so much depth in our system it would be better to just hold onto him instead of getting some decent, but not great prospects. Only way I'd trade him is if I get some MLB help.
  15. No it is the fact there is a pretty large pile of garbage announcers out there so people should stop pleading for Anderson to be fired cause he calls his HRs later than others(among other petty complaints). People want to get rid of Anderson when they don't even know the alternative and being Milwaukee it would probably be someone pretty cruddy. You basically just backed up my point. No because you are inferring people are saying that because Anderson isn't good, but there is worse. Most of those people actually like him, but aren't trying to put their opinion down others throats. Instead they are cautiously warning others be careful what they don't like because much worse is likely on the horizon.
  16. I'd be good with this. Just give me the crowd noise. So every pop up is a HR?
  17. If Keon Broxton goes on the kind of tear you are proposing how is he not the starting CFer? He would have to play incredibly well and not enter another pitcher look-a-like slump.

  19. They are going 6-3 in the trip actually. Screw this 4-5 stuff.
  20. Shuckers rally for win over Generals in series opener Biloxi pulls within a 1/2 game of division lead with 19 remaining By Biloxi Shuckers Johnny Davis was 3-for-5 and scored the winning run on Wednesday night (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: It was Corbin Burnes day and while he did not have a dominating start it was still a solid day on the hill. Burnes went 5.1 innings giving up two runs and striking out five General batters. Johnny Davis and Troy Stokes Jr. had impressive days at the top of the order both going 3-5 on the night. Both also played a huge part in capturing a 6-4 win over the Generals. With Clint Coulter at the plate the two outfielders successfully completed a double steal. After walking Clint Coulter to load up the bases Gabriel Noriega smacked a single to RF to bring them home. Matt Ramsey shut the door in the bottom of the 10th to send the Shuckers home winners. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Corbin Burnes (5.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 5 K) started the game while Josh Uhen (0.2 IP) Nick Ramirez (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, BB), Taylor Williams (1.0 IP, K), Quintin Torres-Costa (1.0 IP) Matt Ramsey (1.0 IP, H, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Troy Stokes Jr. (3-5, R, SB) Johnny Davis (3-5, 2 R, SB) Gabriel Noriega (1-2, RBI, GW HIT) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Gabriel Noriega hits game-winning single. Biloxi Top of the 10th Pitching Change: Gabe Speier replaces Joey Krehbiel, batting 9th, replacing Kelly Dugan. Johnny Davis singles on a ground ball to shortstop Vladimir Frias. Troy Stokes Jr. singles on a ground ball to center fielder Emilio Bonifacio. Johnny Davis to 2nd. With Clint Coulter batting, Johnny Davis steals (39) 3rd base. Troy Stokes Jr. steals (4) 2nd base. Gabe Speier intentionally walks Clint Coulter. Gabriel Noriega singles on a fly ball to right fielder Victor Reyes. Johnny Davis scores. Troy Stokes Jr. Fielding error by right fielder Victor Reyes. Clint Coulter out at 3rd on the throw, right fielder Victor Reyes to third baseman Marty Herum. Jake Gatewood grounds out, third baseman Marty Herum to second baseman Daniel Lockhart to first baseman Kevin Cron. Gabriel Noriega to 2nd. Angel Ortega pops out to first baseman Kevin Cron in foul territory.
  21. This is what I've been hoping for, and why I speculated Tucson a week or so ago. AAA baseball in Tucson is nice for a variety of reasons. MrTPlush, I think you're exaggerating a bit saying the Brewers would be "the only show within hours." Tempe, Mesa, and Scottsdale are roughly 1 hr 30-45 minutes. That's a pretty easy drive. In good traffic I have to drive nearly an hour to Surprise, 45 minutes to Tempe/Maryvale, over an hour to Goodyear/Camelback Ranch. Gilbert is basically an hour away. What's convenient for me personally is that a former golfer on my team is a starter on U of A's softball team, and it would allow me to head to Tucson to spend a weekend catching some college softball and Brewers games. What are the variety of reasons outside of your personal preferences? I don't think DHonks knowing someone at UA is a good reason In the grand scheme of things Tucson AAA would still be well down the list of AAA spots. Not much of an exaggerration. The Cubs complex(closest?) would be about 2 hours away in best case traffic.. Then they would be progressively worse.
  22. Two thoughts: 1) I am a little skeptical about the Gilbert plan. If the Brewers and the developmental company were footing the entire bill why has this not happened? It would literally make zero sense for Gilbert to turn down something that will only cost them the money they directly make from it. 2) I seriously question any move to Tucson. It is really far from the other ballparks which I just don't see them doing. I don't buy there being a bunch of Midwest fans there. I mean yes there are, but that is what all of Arizona is. It is a bunch of people fleeing the "cold". You would get little tourist action flocking to Tucson. They will want to be by all the stadiums and Phoenix. The only gain you have from sticking yourself in Tucson is the fact you are the only show within hours. The only way I see them moving there is if the AAA rumor comes to fruition. That would be the only positive coming out of it..,and I guess paying less money. Though how positive is it to snag a less cruddy AAA site than we have now? Is Fresno that huge of a difference than Tucson? I question that.
  23. Man oh man, I think Lepay is way better than BA. Just a matter of opinion though. I like a good home grilled steak better than McDonald's too, even though Billions eat the Mickie D's You just compared something that is a $1 to something that is $10+. You really just complimented BA even more because he is more expensive and most people still prefer him.
