  1. Lol good job Keon Broxton. Couldn't hit an outside pitch to save his life.
  2. What an action packed night!
  3. We can't afford to have a Josh Hader in the rotation any time soon. He doesn't get deep into games and with his control he is going to throw up complete duds way to often. We can't afford to have the Josh Hader who pitched yesterday. Multiple hits, 3 walks, a hit batter, and 40 pitches while only getting 3 outs? He would destroy our bullpen. Our bullpen cannot handle that.
  4. There was never talking. The Brewers or the development company brought up very simple terms so Gilbert could research the possibility. Gilbert say they have already done so and said no. So quickly they didn't bother even negotiating or sending back a counter offer of any sort. It's possible the Milwaukee employee interviewed for the story isn't kept up with the status of said proposals. From the article on Brewers.com about the Spring Training site: Brewers executive vice president of finance and administration Bob Quinn confirmed that the team is familiar with a proposal to build a new facility in Gilbert, Arizona. Seems like a strange article to run specifically when the Mayor says the city of Gilbert has moved on. Peculiar. That article ran before the public comments by the mayor were said, right? This might have been known to be dead by everyone involved except Bob Quinn. Once it started getting lots of attention the mayor felt the need to publically announce it was dead. So it didn't get bigger than it needed to be.
  5. When the rest of the lineup was hitting they could afford a hole at the top. They no longer have that luxury. Sure, but this isn't mainly Villar's fault or a trickle down effect. They ALL consistently suck. It is the entire line has sucked. Villar does not make the entire line hit 1-100 with RISP. To even hint Villar is the starter(or major cause of said problem) of such issues, sorry, is blantantly false. These line up issues are a whole...not on any specific guy. Actually if anyone should be blamed point the finger at Eric Thames. Maybe we should stop putting a guy who hits for a horribly poor average in a prime RISP spot in the line up. Which I think has started to happen thank gosh.
  6. I am not calling you out but I am very surprised that the Brewers are the number one baseball team for Racine and Kenosha counties. Just seems anecdotally like the Cubs dominate conversation there given the Chicago demographics. Is that before or after they started being good again. Because if I remember right they pulled the data just before they started competing again. They have come out of the wood works the last few years in the SE corner. I'd guess it is still majority Brewers fans though.
  7. 1. Not getting traded. 2. Definitely not getting traded to us. 3. He would cost a ton. 4. I would absolutely love to have his talent and versatility as would Stearns. 5. Not happening 6. I actually think it is a good target...so props to you for bringing it up here.
  8. some of us like the purple up here [sMIRKING FACE] Ban hammer coming on his second post... that must be a record. You know this reminds me of how loyal of a state we tend to be when it comes to the Brewers. According to Facebook likes every county favors the Brewers except the four closest to Minneapolis. Pretty impressive when three other teams are within spitting distance of your border. You would think the Cubs would rule the majority of Illinois, but when the study was done most of the Illinois counties liked the Cardinals.
  9. Josh Hader deserves a lot of the blame. Pitched like trash when we needed multiple innings from him.
  10. How we gave up zero runs the last two innings...amazing. Baseball gods have us so far today.
  11. Didn't he have a good game right when he came back up? Yah...I won't bite yet.
  12. Jake Gatewood has been promoted to AA Biloxi.
  13. Jonathan Villar is not the reason an entire line up is garbage...sorry that is just wrong. They did pretty good when he sucked the rest of the year. Why is the last month or so his fault suddenly? The offense sucks for a lot of other reasons.
  14. Shuckers comeback again to win third straight over M-Braves The 6-4 win on Sunday is Biloxi's eighth win over their last nine games By Biloxi Shuckers Troy Stokes Jr. had a home run and RBI double in the 6-4 win on Sunday (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Troy Stokes Jr. continues to flash his power helping the Shuckers to a 6-4 win. Stokes has a strong day at the plate hitting a homerun and a double to go with a pair of RBI. Hiram Burgos was on the mound striking out six batters over six innings on the way to a quality start. On the downside Jorge Lopez again struggled in relief giving up a run in his outing Sunday. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Hiram Burgos (6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) started the game while Quintin Torres-Costa (0.1 IP, H, BB) Josh Uhen (1.2 IP, BB, K), and Jorge Lopez (1.0 IP, 2 H, ER, BB, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Clint Coulter (2-3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB) Troy Stokes Jr. (2-5, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) Javier Betancourt (2-4, 2B, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Troy Stokes Jr. starts things off with a homerun. Biloxi Top of the 1st Johnny Davis called out on strikes. Troy Stokes homers (2) on a fly ball to left center field. Angel Ortega lines out softly to shortstop Luis Valenzuela. Clint Coulter strikes out swinging.
  15. There was never talking. The Brewers or the development company brought up very simple terms so Gilbert could research the possibility. Gilbert say they have already done so and said no. 16. Maryvale(the ballpark) is nice if you want close player interaction. Outside of that it is pretty lacking if you ask me. Just very outdated. To me it is just the fact we should be able to do so much better than Maryvale. For these small cities the ballparks can actually make quite a bit of economic sense. I guess Gilbert just doesn't want to invest in one. Maybe someday we can move up in the spring training facility world.
  17. It's purely because Verlanders contract and situation(not expensive when it comes to prospects) is why we are connected to him so much. One could point to our current starters and say we don't need Verlander, but that is short sighted. Postseason comes and you have a playoff series(or worse yet a wild card game. You have the option of Justin Verlander or Brent Suter, who you got? That's where Verlander or a Sonny Gray becomes a huge difference maker. Justin Verlander is a better bet to pitch like an ace and dramatically increases our chance of winning postseason games/series. That gives us a Top 3 of Verlander/Nelson/Anderson. That's not bad if you think Anderson can be well above average when it matter. Then our #4 is Zach Davies who is looking a lot more like his 2016 self.
  18. You are assuming I have never lived in the Phoenix area? You have actually assumed wrong. Maryvale isn't terrible, but sure isn't anywhere close to nice. Especially compared to other burbs(most notably the one this stadium was going to be by).
  19. From last season compared to this season, anyone else? Most Impressive: Corbin Burnes/Monte Harrison Most Dissapointing: Mauricio Dubon Most Intriguing: Trent Clark Regarding Dubon: I was really expecting him to have a great year. He was returning to AA and then would be off to Colorado Springs. Sounded like a recipe for a big season, but instead he has had a pretty boring year. Looks like that AA time last year was a big ole fluke. I still think with the speed he could be a top of the order 2B starter if all goes right. I was hoping he would crack my Top 5, but now he is sitting at #15.
  20. 1. Lewis Brinson- Brinson is the complete package. Something no other player among our top prospects can really say. He has a lot of potential and has shown it in the high minors. +0 2. Luis Ortiz- I think he has a higher ceiling than Hader, but there are health concerns and he is farther off. +2 3. Keston Hiura- This kid can flat out hit and has impressive bat speed. He looks like a prime candidate to be a fast mover which has value in itself. I am not concerned about the defense presently which is why I rank him aggresively. NEW! 4. Josh Hader- Josh Hader is going to be a phenominal reliever...yes reliever. I don't see a high enough ceiling as a starter so I think he provides more value to us as a shutdown reliever. -2 5. Corbin Burnes- Has he been phenominal or what? This guy is doing everything and not missing a beat. Burnes could be something really special with his pitches and great control. Cannot wait for him to make his debut. 6. Brandon Woodruff- Three solid to good pitches and he commands them well. He is going to be a solid mid rotation guy. 7. Trent Clark- Clark has elite OBP skills and has been very surprising on defense since being drafted. I think the power is about to show up. He just needs to up his average a bit and we have a dream lead off hitter on our hands. 8. Corey Ray- It isn't that I don't like Ray, but he just hasn't been showing much since being drafted. He still has a high ceiling in my opinion, but he needs to start producing. Easily the biggest dissapointment in the entire system this year. 9. Tristan Lutz- I loved this pick. His tools are big and full of potential. The only thing he lacks is speed on the base paths. However his other skills will make us forget about that downside. 10. Monte Harrison- If you had to chisel yourself an athlete Harrison would be it. After early career struggles with injuries his power showed up full force this year. He already has 21 homeruns this year(including AS game). 11. Isan Diaz 12. Brett Phillips 13. Lucas Erceg 14. Freddy Peralta 15. Phil Bickford 15. Mauricio Dubon 16. Jacob Nottingham 17. Marcos Diplan 18. Mario Feliciano 19. Jake Gatewood 20. KJ Harrison 21. Troy Stokes Jr. 22. Larry Ernesto 23. Caden Lemons 24. Cody Ponce 25. Trey Supak
  21. On the bright side only one walk...so there is that.
