  1. Jake Gatewood, #23 on pre season list, is floating in the same spot or possibly even worse(lots leaving him off) so far. Kind of blows my mind actually. Maybe it just so happens a lot of the people who don't like Gatewood have posted lists, but wow. His game has seen incredible strides vs. last year. I was expecting him to bump up into the #19 all said and done. Still early so interested to see where that goes.
  2. He has gotten to that ace like trustworthy level where even when he doesn't seem to have it you put the ball in his hand and send him to get the job done.
  3. I think Monte Harrison's power has arrived. 18 homers this year including the two in the All Star game. He had just 12 his entire career coming into 2017.
  4. Well at least they should chase Martinez early due to the 2 out rally.
  5. I hope that was a failed attempt at being funny and not actually trying to hate on Bill.
  6. I understand recalling him so you keep the option for next year(so he can be our AAA outfielder), but bulk of the playing time? Yawn. Orlando Arcia gets to come up and struggle, but Brinson can't? Broxton shows nothing that would make me want to go to him...even in what is a divisional race. What they are doing now is just pointless. Trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a week with Broxton.
  7. Brinson is their guy long term and he will get all the time he needs to prove that much like Orlando Arcia did. Barring a maricle Ryan Braun isn't going anywhere and trading Domingo Santana wouldn't make much sense. You can't just sit Brett Phillips in AAA for years waiting to see if Brinson is legit or not. Brett Phillips will be a notable trade chip this winter or next summer in my mind. If I had my way I would actually make him our 4th OFer, but really more of a 3.5th OFer. Not only would he fill in for injuries, but I would give him quite a bit of playing time to stay fresh etc. Braun being the ultimate cripple would surely give him a good chunk of ABs. While this is certainly possible I think it is more likely he is traded to fill a different need vs. him being a luxurious 4th OFer. When I post a lot of times I say what I think the Brewers will probably do, not necessarily what I would do if I was in charge. This being one of those cases. I like the 4th OFer idea I just don't know if the Brewers would seriously consider that.
  8. Outcome #3 isn't even possible at this point. He would have to get seriously injured for him not to draw interest at $5mil.
  9. For the last time DOMINGO SANTANA CANT AND WONT PLAY CF.
  10. All these people touting trading a bunch of major prospects to be an OK contender(probably wild card level) I am just curious your thoughts on the last 3 weeks.
  11. And maybe it's better for trade value to have Phillips in AAA putting up great stats than to come up and possibly struggle. Maybe. I don't think his trade value is all that high anyway unfortunately. Refinding yourself in Colorado Springs probably doesn't mean a whole lot. Probably leaves many skeptical of the results. Walking even less while striking out the same. Gigantic power surge(Colorado Springs?) and unsustainable BABIP driven results. Might be low enough where the downside of struggling at the MLB level is worth the risk...maybe not. I wasn't advocating the move. Just throwing it out there as the only way I would rationalize Brett Phillips stealing playing time.
  12. Unless we want to market Phillips in an attempt to raise his value I am starting Lewis Brinson every single day. Brinson is the future not Phillips. Phillips won't be here a year from now.
  13. Interested to see how this list shakes out. A lot of struggling top prospects, former top guys finding something, and many other interesting storylines. Going to be a ton of movement when we didn't add/lose much of anything.
  14. His average fastball was 95.1 last year and has been 94.7 and 94.8 in June and July. That's lower but certainly not notably lower. I think you have to account for the change in recording velocity this year. So it is more like 1.4 MPH change. The other thing about this year that would be a slight red flag is the fact the Rangers do not use Jeffress often. He rarely has ever pitched consecutive days this year and many times gets 3 days rest in between. He might just be throwing harder than in April because they don't use him often. Just a possibility there. Other thing with his velocity is Fangraphs has him at a perceived velocity of 90.7 MPH. Not sure what he is for his career, but that seems oddly low for him.
  15. Perrin delivers Biloxi a third straight win on Monday to close out July Johnny Davis was 2-for-4 and picked up his 31st steal of the year in the win By Biloxi Shuckers Jon Perrin tossed 6.1 innings on Monday to improve to 4-2 on the year. (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Three early runs is all the Shuckers needed as the pitching shut the Jumbo Shrimp Monday night for a 3-2 win. Biloxi starter Jon Perrin went 6.1 innings giving up just two runs on the night. After exiting the bullpen cruised to victory allowing a single baserunner the rest of the way. After some rough stretches in July the Shuckers ended things with a three game winning streak to take into August. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Jon Perrin (6.1 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 K) started the game while Nick Ramirez (0.2 IP), Forrest Snow (1.0 IP, K), and Matt Ramsey (1.0 IP, K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: [bTroy Stokes Jr.[/b] (1-3, R, 2B, RBI) Johnny Davis (2-4, SB) Rene Garcia (2-3) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Troy Stokes Jr. keeps the power stroke going. Biloxi Bottom of the 1st Johnny Davis flies out to center fielder Braxton Lee. Troy Stokes Jr. doubles (2) on a line drive to left fielder Austin Dean. Angel Ortega singles on a ground ball to left fielder Austin Dean. Troy Stokes Jr. scores. Dustin DeMuth strikes out swinging. Clint Coulter reaches on a fielding error by shortstop Chris Diaz. Angel Ortega scores. Clint Coulter to 3rd. Throwing error by shortstop Chris Diaz. Gabriel Noriega strikes out on a foul tip.
  16. Stokes Jr. is likely to always be on teams that will push him to a corner(likely LF).
  17. No that is not correct. It shows his velocity was WAY down at the start of the year and has improved. However it shows his velocity is still notably lower vs. last year. Hopefully it continues to rebound, but as it stands his velocity is problematic and likely causing some of the struggles.
  18. Yah I think he might be a lost cause this year, but maybe being back sparks him. However the down velocity makes me think it is more than just a mental game with him. I think he could bounce back next year and be even more helpful than this year. Hard to envision him leaving Milwaukee any time soon after the disaster on and off the field he experienced in Texas.
  19. So velocity is still down as are his results. Doesn't sound overblown. Sounds like a big problem.
  20. I don't get to caught up in numbers of a college bat in A-ball...see Lucas Erceg. I was pretty skeptical of his numbers when everyone was jumping on him as one of our best prospects. I still like him a lot, but college guys should be smoking anything below A+.
  21. I have a hunch if he does well we definitely resign him, but I doubt being here makes him want to sign with us anymore than other teams. Still have to be the highest bidder.
  22. Verlander is pretty similar to Braun last ear. Highly doubtful they would just let him go as complete salary relief(looks terrible for an all time great for the franchise) however no team is taking a chance on that. If Braun wasn't claimed no way Verlander is getting claimed.
  23. My main concern with the power he discovered is if it would actually translate to the MLB level. He needs it as a corner OFer.
  24. The Brewers just had great pitching with horrid hitting. Sadly i think when the offense gets better the pitching comes back to earth. 12-15
