  1. He should be having more than just a solid season when he is 24 years old at AA. He dominated some lower levels as a college draftee. Color me not too impressed. Not saying he isn't a prospect, but sure isn't something special at this point. I have seen some make it seem like his power won't play at a corner OF position, but he has an OPS over .800 and 20+ homerun power. His slugging % is actually quite high. He has a Marcell Ozuna type line and that isn't too bad.
  2. A bit disappointing after the now fake report of it being a comparable prospect to Brinson/Ortiz. He isn't anything special to be honest. He was been old for his league the past two years...not old old but surely not a young buck. Has some power and speed so that is something to dream on.
  3. Broxton/Villar/Perez/Co. playing well > Draft pick position Actually I will give up the 1st round pick all together if it means some of the guys who broke out this year keep it up. I wish we could have all these guys perform and lose 120 games, but unfortunately you can't have both. I will take the former though.
  4. Great speed and power coming off the bench. Hopefully he can consistently keep his numbers average or close to it. I'd imagine he will end up a super utility guy which after bringing up Arcia that's what his role pretty much has been. Probably not starter material, but a fine piece to have on your bench. Honestly he will probably play so much he will basically be a starter. People always need off days and there is always someone getting injured. Hernan Perez is the guy who gets no love on a team, but is so valuable.
  5. It's not that he is younger and cheaper. It is the fact he is only 25 and has two 5 WAR years under his belt.If he even gets close to that he is a bargain. It's not like the Brewers would trade Braun straight up for Puig. Heck for all we know he could mainly be money motivated. Since we have to pick up money that could be where Puig comes in. He may provide little value to a trade outside of that. I'd take a chance on Puig in a heart beat for a small price. Much like I think many teams have attempted over the last year. Puig was actually hitting really well after his DL stint and then he got demoted. Maybe the demotion was a wake up call or maybe something else can be done.
  6. That play by Arcia was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
  7. For now. MiLB teams are still playing. Possibly more after that.
  8. I actually don't think Braun lying effects his value that much. Thanks for pulling that out of thin air though. It does effect why fans hate him. The reason I don't think his value is not that high is because he is aging, injury prone, and expensive. Brewers claimed Puig. That means the teams with worse records passed and better record teams had no chance. Also many teams have tried to acquire Puig the last two years but the Dodgers price was high. Then again none of this matters because I said IF he played like a 5 WAR player NEXT year teams would be lining up. Not now so why it is even being mentioned I have no clue.
  9. A team would trade for Puig in a heartbeat at the 2017 deadline if he looked like the 5 WAR Puig. Make up issues are pretty minor once you are performing like an All-Star.
  10. His numbers the last two year have looked pretty average offensively...not horrible. He is 25 and not far removed from putting up 10 WAR in a two year span.
  11. Corey Ray finishing up a solid aggressive placement with a chance to push his average over .250 on the year. Overall I can't really complain with him starting at Brevard. His stats aren't crazy, but he finished strong and showed a good amount of power for where he was playing.
  12. I went to that 14 inning game last month and wow does it take some motivation to watch that much MiLB baseball. In Kane County nearly everyone was gone, the players looked ready for bed, the food stands were closed, and you literally could hear the crickets chirping and urinals flushing.
  13. A deal around the two make a lot of sense. Puig is a great buy low candidate and it frees up money for the Dodgers. Along with some prospects it could be a deal that makes both teams really happy. If Puig turns it around we have a stellar player or a guy to trade for a boatload of prospects. I would still need multiple promising prospects to go with him though.
  14. What lost year of service time? Arcia would have started 2017 with the Brewers regardless I meant control not service time if that confused you. On another note if they wouldn't have called up Arcia when they did or in September putting him on the opening day roster would have been a dumb move. I cannot think of a single reason why starting ones MLB career 15 games sooner in a lost season is worth the possibility of losing a year of control. At that point you might as well wait the 3 weeks to assure you can't lose that year of control. There is absolutely no excuse a non contending team should stick a highly rated prospect on their opening day roster when they have no MLB experience. Most contenders refuse to put high rated prospects on their opening day rosters because it is so easy and you lose so little waiting a few weeks yet gain a lot if they player pans out.
  15. You act like waiting and delaying their call-up is a serious setback in their development. If we don't give Hader/Brinson a September call-up you are talking about three weeks into season to retain that year of control. That is a ridiculously small amount of time especially with all the off days. If we call them up after the minor league season is finished then you would have to wait till early May to retain that year. I can't say that is any kind of set back. You could call it a minor set back if you waited for the Super Two cut off which I believe you have to wait till early June for on average. But for a few weeks? That's just smart baseball. If you aren't competing there is just little argument not to wait.
  16. yes def. hope we maximize Brinson's peak years with our contention window. but, wouldn't you apply that to Hader as well? still wish we had waited with Arcia- but maybe it all becomes moot with possible future extensions. You have to take advantage of pitchers as soon as they are ready. There's only so many innings in their arms. Can't waste them in AAA. With that logic he shouldn't be a September call-up. You are adding innings on his arm when he could just go home after the MiLB season. I also don't understand why you would want to lose an entire year of service time because he is "wasting" innings at AAA. First of all the team is going to suck next year and secondly he probably wouldn't even throw 50innings before being called up if you waited for the cutoff. We are going to burn a year of service time over 50 innings wasted at AAA in a lost season? If one wants to call up Arcia at the start of August to get him going fine. I still really disagree, but at least he is getting in a lot of reps for that lost year of service time. I am fine with calling up Brinson/Hader, but that better mean they will delay them next year to make sure they don't lose a year of control. If we start sacrificing years of control to get these guys started instead of just waiting 2 months longer I am going to really start questioning the thought process of this organization.
  17. Where/when would he play? Would Craig actually sit Kirk for Brinson or would he be buried as the 5th OF only getting a pinch hit or two a week? I understand it's not like they'd be taking minor league at bats away from him but it would seem like a waste of service time to sit him on the bench. I don't think they are going to call up Brinson for that reason. We already have a deep OF depth chart and Counsell doesn't play Broxton so I doubt Brinson would get much playing time. I doubt they promote him to get a few at-bats, but honestly I don't know. Maybe the service time just doesn't matter to Stearns. I think if he is called up it is in the same situation as Arcia. They say, "Alright Brinson is the future at CF for this time and it is time for him to play at the MLB level." and then proceed to give him the complete starting gig in CF over Broxton/Newenhesaugsdfjknfs. Honestly I don't know the likelihood of it happening. I do know I wouldn't just write it off as 100% no chance though. I could certainly happen and I bet it has been brought up.
  18. Teams are a lot smarter these days. It is a bit hard to get those "lottery tickets" now. Teams are much more informed and value them more than they used to.
  19. They called up Arcia and he wasn't playing that well. Brinson is destroying the ball. Would t be surprised if he is called up.
  20. except you don't know that, you're just making an assumption based off one incident. Yes very good, I said probably. He checked himself into a month long rehab. 100% he has some bad alcohol issues(maybe marijuana) and if you think he hasn't driven drunk many times before...well...that's pretty positive thinking by you. You don't check into rehab because you drank a few and drove drunk by accident once. You check into rehab because you have a serious problem and it didn't happen just once.
  21. Cubs traded for him way after the fact. Look at what the Yankees gave up...that is what I am referring to. When it is fresh in the minds. We dodged a bullet because Jeremy Jeffress has probably had alcohol problems for a long time. Getting a DWI is a lot more predictable than taking a foul ball off the mask. That is more of a freak injury not something bound to happen. Jeremy Jeffress getting caught DWI was bound to happen eventually(assuming this isn't a one time thing...which it appears to be). If this happened at any point this season we probably won't get good value for Jeffress and he is never traded. That means no trade with the Rangers and no Brinson...who has destroyed in his short Brewers career. I am not saying we would never be able to trade him ever again and I am not saying it would destroy his value from ever regaining to what it was prior.
  22. For future reference you are more likely to get a warning if you accept what you did. Excuses are just wasting their time and it is probably something they have heard a million times before. Of course he might have made up his mind before getting out of his car, but there is always hope.
  23. This is a bad two day stretch for the Peralta/Garza haters.
  24. Lewis Brinson tonight: 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R ...through 5 innings
