  1. You are forgetting Frazier is a very good CFer and much faster. On the other hand Zimmer is destined for a corner spot and not as much of a basestealer. You can't just compare their offensive numbers when one plays a way more premium position.
  2. Your packages make me very excited!!!! That's what she said... Why do you think his name is "Warning Track Power"?
  3. Oh the Indians are looking at Lucroy? I am baffled...not. I think it is a good trade for the Indians if they can make it happen. Even more so if they get a reliever along with him. Lucroy/Smith makes a ton of sense and they have the prospects to do it without killing their farm system.
  4. Well for Jeffress it sounds like it would take multiple of those top guy. For Smith you are probably looking at one of them though maybe not Bickford. Depends on how the dominos fall one day relievers are getting traded for a kings ransom and the next day relievers can be had for free. Main difference ours are very controllable.
  5. I'm not buying the Indians not looking for a catcher. Their catching situation is really bad and they want to give their offense a boost.
  6. yup, very questionable to move Gatewood off the most needed position on the big club. Gatewood is huge, he'd be a great target at 1B, but is holding his own at 3B, and we desperately need a 3B to come down the pipe... He can always move back once/if Erceg passes him up and goes to A+. Also he will still get playing time at 3B.
  7. I don't think that is it. I think the problem is getting enough back to trade arguably the best player we have had since Yount and quite possibly the best we will see for decades(never know obviously). Braun is still a good player and still a fan favorite/marketable locally even if less than before. Trading that while paying a good chunk of his contract for good but not elite prospects may not make sense. It probably isn't that he is scared to trade Braun, but more the simple fact the value coming back may not be there.
  8. Yah hopefully he mashes to the tune of a .400 average at Wisconsin and gets a short stop at Brevard before next season. I think he stays at Wisconsin all year though.
  9. If you think Nottingham has a future as a catcher you are sipping really good kool aid or you place no value on defense. Nottingham just isn't going to stick. I'd like for him to, but I feel like the defensive downside isn't something we want behind the dish. 12 errors, 17 passed balls, and a only 29% of basestealers caught is pretty pathetic. Over the course of a full MLB workload he would rack up nearly 50 errors/passed balls combined. Someone tell me how that is going to be acceptable?
  10. Exactly and Covey doesn't count. Who knows if LaPorta would have been good or not here. He could have turned into a MLB player for all we know.
  11. Is this the same idiot who proposed Lucroy to the Mets for Wheeler/Flores?
  12. Bigger problem is ceiling. Nelson appears to be very clearly a #3 while Pomeranz could legitimately be a #2 or better.
  13. I will take "the guy" because we are so deep with quality trade chips. If Lucroy or whoever can get a Moncada/Bregman/etc. then do it. We can always trade a Smith/Nelson/Thornburg/whoever for a package, but some of those guy don't have the value to get a Moncada alone. Getting "the guy" is so incredibly rare and hard to get. If we have a chance to get one the trigger better be pulled. We can always get low level guys and 50 range prospects. Those trades happen all the time.
  14. Profar could be a trade candidate. If that of course involves another team and he never plays a game for us.
  15. Lucas Erceg just got over a 100 ABs which is a popular number to get past before a promotion at rookie ball(if mashing of course). I'd expect and hope a promotion is in the very near future.
  16. Cutting out 4 home games is a pretty big deal. On ticket sales alone it will cost a team like the Brewers approx. $3mil yearly and a team like the Red Sox could be looking at a $9mil hit yearly. Once you start considering the losses at the team store, concessions, TV money, and parking I would imagine such a move would cost team A LOT more on top of just ticket sales. Also keep in mind TV money would be hit for all 8 games not just the home games. Simply put you are cutting out 5% of day of game revenue. That is a pretty hefty price to pay. Not saying it can't happen, but it won't be very easy. It is like the exact opposite of what the NFL wants to do right now. The owners want two more games for revenue and the players want nothing to do with it.
  17. Steam? Maybe from the players side of things. Owners on the other hand...good luck.
  18. I'd give up all hope in Stearns if he made that deal...actually a deal even remotely close to that.
  19. At this point I think Gomez might be toast. At least as an above average player. I don't think there is much upside if we were to sign him. He is one of those players who is probably pretty annoying when he isn't playing well.
  20. I think the reasoning is there's not really a trade partner for a 2nd base-only guy who has to be platooned vs. lefties. Maybe they think he can raise his value or they don't feel it is worth it to trade him. I am pretty sure there are teams out there that would trade for Gennett. He provides some decent offense and he has hit LHP well this year. We control him through 2019, he is young, and we have no 2B waiting in the wings yet. Really no reason to trade him.
  21. I mean I guess everyone can have an opinion, but you are the only person I think that would call Villar a long term utility guy. He has been very consistent all year hitting .300/.380 with an OPS over .800. If that is our utility player's stats I can't wait to see the full line-up. I could see him as a utility player, but more of a Zobrist-type super sub who plays everyday but at different spots. That would mean improving the current 2B and 3B situations. Maybe by the time of competition in a few years Diaz will be pushing for the 2B job and they've finally got a 3B in trade or free agency Me too, but I don't think that is what he was talking about. I think he was inferring Villar isn't good enough to be a starter at any of those positions.
  22. They are calling up Roberto Perez from his rehab assignment (broken thumb that needed surgery). Ironically, while his D is on par with Gomes, his offense THIS season has been worse than Gomes. He has had a grand 8 at-bats this season. Why even mention it? Guess we should mention his elite .400 OBP% this year.
  23. I want the Brewers to make trades to win a World Series someday not make trades to make sure another team doesn't win a World Series we have no shot at. Mets have the best package they can have Smith and win the World Series this year for all I care.
  24. Did you mean the Rangers are getting creative and that's what they want? Because you listed that's what they don't want and they are the leader for Lucroy. Which would not make a ton of sense since he is a "goner".
  25. To me it's pretty obvious the Indians will trade for a catcher the only question is if they want to go big for Lucroy or get someone cheaper. There is no way a contending team keeps trotting out a guy with an OPS+ of 28. His OBP% isn't even above .200 He is so bad there are PITCHERS that would hit over him.
