  1. Yikes, I just looked at the WC standings. The NL has the 20-20 Phillies in one of the spots with a negative run differential. There are only 6 teams that even have a positive run differential. On the flip side, the AL has 10 teams with a positive run differential.
  2. Just agree to pay his contract. That would reduce their payroll like 10%.
  3. His OBP skills are so ridiculous he reminds me of Trent Grisham. A half decent average and he will make it to the MLB level purely based on OBP potential and speed. You just hope the guy can manage a .250ish average to be a nice top of the order guy.
  4. Three good games against a garbage opponent? This is non news...at least for now.
  5. Worried for an unnecessary amount of Simone Biles mentions next year? Yes As a player? He is decent.
  6. Hard to get too invested in the schedule when it is likely a developmental year with Love.
  7. It is a money grab. Is what it is, I would probably do the same.
  8. Blaming the university is laughable. Unless these speeding tickets were 100mph+, I don’t see any reason the university should have believed the guy was at risk of reckless driving in the form of street racing/104mph. They are probably asking for $2mil because: A) The university has money to pay out. Suing the person actually responsible (well the estate) probably doesn’t have much money to give out. B) Low enough where they might be able to just settle out of court and the university will just want to be done with it quicker.
  9. I don't think the white claw sales at the stadium are going to pay for his contract.
  10. I went back and checked his career in the minors (thanks to your link I finally figured out where they hide that on BRef (not overly obvious to see). There have been a few occasions where he hit LHP better...so this isn't the first time. Much like it isn't the first time he mashed AAA pitching. Too bad he is a terrible defender or else he would probably be on the roster already replacing someone. Luke Voit isn't really any different though. Same reverse splits nature. Also, I think someone can decline Voit's $12mil team option now....lol.
  11. Yah, except he always had backwards splits at the MLB level. I think his past MLB experience (and the large sample it is), is probably a better indicator.
  12. The Oakland A's run differential is over twice as bad...and they have a worse record. They are on pace to shatter the worst run differential in modern baseball history.
  13. Baseball Reference has this comparable score. It is entirely based on old school counting stats though. In some ways the comps can actually be pretty relevant. Less experience the weirder it can get though, as is being a reliever/starter like Houser. Corbin Burnes has Logan Webb as his #3 comp. Trying to use it to comp two players for talent and/or future earnings type stuff is getting pretty unrealistic. There is probably a reason none of the comps made any sense for Adrian Houser. Probably because guys like Houser don't get long term contracts or even last long enough to try.
  14. Did you click on it? Were there ads on your screen? Mission accomplished.
  15. We are quickly nearing .500 baseball.
  16. Counsell? Look at his options and look at what he was given new this year. Contreras has a .766 OPS, after that the highest OPS of a new Brewer is Owen Miller at .667. Tell the front office to not be incompetent building a roster. Counsell can only trot out like four .700+ OPS guys on any given night. I feel bad for Counsell...no matter who he puts in the line-up their performance this year is total rubbish.
  17. Wonder how long they waste roster space on Winker. He may turn it around, but after posting a .688 OPS last year...maybe he really does just suck. I guess he puts up a nice OBP...but jeez.
  18. The A's are now going to demolish the Tropicana to make room for a new stadium....no sorry, not the dump in Tampa Bay you are thinking of, a casino in Las Vegas. The new plan would apparently require over $100mil less of public funding. The new plan also puts them directly on the south side of strip, instead of on the west side of the freeway like the Raiders stadium is.
  19. Dodgers' Mookie Betts staying at an Airbnb to avoid Milwaukee's 'haunted' Pfister Hotel (yahoo.com)
  20. The pitching staff just isn't good enough and I don't think they have any relevant depth if (and when) injuries happen. A bunch of old guys they were hoping to be decent that have had shaky/injury riddled seasons recently. There was some hope they could pitch well, but there was little room for guys flopping and/or getting injured. They only have one starter actually doing anything decent...the rest aren't even managing #5 status so far.
  21. I am more concerned about the LFer that barely got the ball back into the infield...let alone to the plate. lol
  22. The offense is putrid, but it only has up to go. Turang/Yelich/Wiemer can't possibly get worse. Winker is also likely to provide a boost eventually over what he has done...he also had zero homers in April last year. The same goes for Voit, zero homers in April last year. Then there really isn't anyone playing over their head...except maybe Tellez. It will be interesting to see what Turang/Wiemer do. Both have shown some spurts of life lately. Maybe they can start avoiding stretches of utter cluelessness. I also think Urias can be a huge help. Our bench has been hot garbage without Urias/Taylor around. Those lower-level roster guys aren't very appreciated, but they can sure help avoid losing 6 games in a row.
  23. I think there is a lot of legality issues with them. I am pretty sure Illinois doesn't use them anymore for that reason. They put out the signs warning of them in construction zones...but everyone goes 20+ over the speed limit so I doubt they actually exist. An actual cop tests their radar every day and can appear in court. The speed camera does neither of those things. I am guessing red light cameras hold up in court because whether you stopped or not is pretty obvious on camera. Then they just label them the equivalent of a parking ticket because you can't prove who was driving the vehicle. I think it is kind of ridiculous because 9/10 the camera is just nabbing someone for rolling a right-hand turn...not the guy blowing the entire light going straight at 60mph.
  24. History says the Cardinals are pretty toast. It especially won't help their case if the Brewers/Pirates/Cubs are all .500ish teams or better. Historically, teams don't dig themselves out of this bad of a start. The only thing in their favor is they didn't come into the year with low expectations and the trade deadline is much later than it used to be. Leaves more time to commit to selling/adding/holding.
  25. It made sense for the Jets to go after Packers WRs regardless of whether Rodgers kindly requested them or not. If you are hedging your bets on an old QB for 2 years, having him get comfortable and learn to play with an entire roster of new guys is a lot of wasted time that could be costly. Especially early on next year. Unfortunately for the Jets, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb were the two WRs available to nab and not someone like Davante Adams. Knowing how Rodgers runs an offense and how guys have struggled with him at first in the past, it will probably end up beneficial. The quality of those guys isn't that great though, so I don't really expect this experiment to work that well for the Jets. We shall see though.
