  1. Trade made sense from the start and he has lived up to his potential. OBP skills, some pop, versatile, and 40+ stolen base speed. As I said when the trade went down lots of teams would love to have that on their team.
  2. A bit of an over exaggeration. A change needs to happen though.
  3. They would laugh if you wanted Moncada just for Lucroy. You would need to trade a good haul of talent to get back Moncada.
  4. Which in my opinion should take into consideration risk. Pint/Groome have the best potential in the draft, but each has a ton of risk. Usually high school players have a lot more risk than college guys too. You have to balance out each one and pick your risks wisely. Everyone says we HAVE to get his elite player at #5, but what we need even more is to not have a player totally flop. Jason Groome is great until he turns into Mark Rogers. Point being we don't have to take a big risk at #5. That isn't the only spot to find good players. There are other avenues and that's Stearns job to figure out. Not saying I support Ray over someone like Groome, but if we go Ray I am sure it is apart of a bigger picture/plan.
  5. Harrison- I hope he can just make it to the major leagues. That guy has struggled badly. Like really bad. He is young, but he has not shown much promise. Calling him anything at this point is wishful thinking. Orimoloye-He is way off and very raw. Not a guy I would pencil in as a part of the future yet. Clark-Probably the best of the bunch. He isn't anything amazing though. Point being none of these guys are a sure thing or better than Corey Ray. Also why can't Corey Ray be an All Star? He sure has the potential and tools to be one. Has as good of a chance than any of these guys. We have no OF spots locked up right now for the future. Braun should be traded, Phillips has struggled this year, and Santana hasn't proved to be more than average yet(OK offense with horrid defense). Regardless in 4 years if we have a roadblock Santana could easily be traded for something else.
  6. Nimmo is not a flier type player. He is a legit prospect...and a pretty good one at that.
  7. And I have heard Ray is going up draft boards. So back to square one of having no idea what is actually true.
  8. How do we know the Brewers are looking for OPS performers? Knowing their scouting director and rumors they are looking for a toolsy guy. Corey Ray is probably the best 5 tool player in the draft. Not to mention he has an OPS in the high .900s. Corey Ray has no obvious weakness and that will fair him well come draft day. As said before he may not have a superstar ceiling, but there is plenty of high upside with a high floor. It is easy to say go with the guy with superstar talent until that guy falls flat on his face and we never see him take the field. Countless times teams draft that superstar guy with lots of risk and he never even makes the MLB roster in his career. Now as I said before I probably wouldn't draft Corey Ray in any scenario. I would rather nab a bigger risk higher ceiling player. However, for me it easy to see why a team might like Corey Ray and why I wouldn't immediately hate the pick.
  9. [sarcasm]I am truly shocked. Unbelievable[/sarcasm] He wasn't good...still isn't.
  10. I feel Corey Ray might be a bit underrated by fans. He has the power and speed to be really special if he can play centerfield. I know some scouts have questioned that, but I don't think it is a far fetched possibility. Heck even if he ends up at a corner spot he still has good upside. At the very least I think he projects higher than an average everyday player. Last time I checked 20/20 players are almost non existent. Not to mention Corey Ray has the potential to do better than 20 in both categories. Now I wouldn't pick Corey Ray over a Groome/Pint, but I don't think he is as bad as we are making him out to be. He has All Star potential in my mind.
  11. Going at #7 Delvin Perez. Too good I can't see him dropping any farther.
  12. First thought, Arcia could easily end up being Jean Segura offensively. He would still be a starter due to his glove, but not anything special. That being said if you draft Perez I am guessing he would project as the 2B with Arcia still at SS some day. Not like a Carlos Correa at 2B is something bad. Would still be a superstar.
  13. This is Theo Epstein we are talking about. Not the guy in Arizona. Epstein is smart enough to not make an unnecessary trade and I highly doubt he would offer an old Lucroy a long term deal when they have one of the best catching prospects in the game...but hey that's just me. The Cubs are built for long term success and that is the best way to increase your odds for a WS win. This isn't the NBA...you can't build a super team and have instant success. Baseball is all about getting to the playoffs and hoping you get hot.
  14. Or hottest name on the injury report. We have two solid OFers that have been injured often and a black hole in CF. Probably want to keep all the depth we can get.
  15. Then I hope Rutherford is picked before us. No offense to him, but he profiles as an above average corner outfielder. At #5 they should take a player with superstar potential. Groome, Pint, and Perez should all be before him. Perez could also save them some money if that is what they are wanting. Picking Rutherford just seems like a move to go way underslot and sacrificing the opportunity to get an elite prospect.
  16. I don't think the Cubs make a lot of sense from their point of view. Getting past the fact they would be sending really good prospects to the Brewers making any deal unlikely they aren't the type of team in need of a big splash. They just need to make a few small moves to bolster their depth. I think they would prefer to stick with their current catcher leading their pitching staff too. Also keep in mind trading for Lucroy would mean tying $15mil into a back up catcher through next year. Not really ideal. Lucroy would be a big upgrade offensively, but their offense isn't dying for another bat. Yes it would help, but another team will be more desperate therefor offering more. Despite the need a trade to the Cubs would be shocking.
  17. Perfect scenario Lucroy might be worth a Top 20 prospect as a center piece, but I doubt that scenario will come to fruition. You need a competing team, desperate for a catcher, Top 20 prospect, and wanting Lucroy at all costs. He should net very similar to what we got for Gomez at worst possibly something better. It all depends on how things shake out.
  18. As some have said no one should EVER try to compare Melvin and Stearns. They were both trying to build an entirely different roster and were dealing with totally different Mark Attanasio's.
  19. Alright so I am betting optioning him is not an option. I am betting some team would take a chance on him for free. Actually probably multiple teams.
  20. This would be my preferred route. That way he can get rest and then rehab at Wisconsin/Brevard. If we demote him he goes to Colorado(yuck) and I am really reluctant to sending him to the pen.
  21. Yah I remember a lot of hate from Yankees fans for A-Rod after that last suspension and he came back to open arms real fast. I am guessing it would be the same with Braun.
  22. Maybe he does maybe he doesn't. Either way I don't think being a Brewer for life is a huge deal. If the Brewers don't want him and want to trade him why would you want to stay? Part of that great legacy would be giving the organization the shaft and blocking a trade to stay. That being said I don't think Braun is a bad guy, but baseball doesn't care or its fans. What he did tarnished him forever...right or wrong. His ego got the best of him back then and it costed him his good image. He wasn't the first and won't be the last famous person/athlete to get caught up in himself. Keeping this on topic I don't think Braun would block a trade to stay with the Brewers. If they don't want him I think he would accept that and move on. At most for that option year picked up.
  23. I am guessing Ryan Braun doesn't care about his legacy or being a Brewer for life at this point. If he did he probably wouldn't have cheated or made himself look like a fool. That pretty much sealed his legacy as a baseball player. I am betting Braun retires and rides off into the sunset to his Malibu home. Then he will sip on some fine wine watching the waves crash in. I bet that's how the Brewers would want it too. The Brewers sure don't like marketing him now...I doubt that will increase when he isn't on the team anymore. Nothing wrong with that...probably the best idea for both sides to quietly move on when he retires. If I was Braun that is what I would do.
  24. May be our best chance to obtain the top of the rotation starter we dearly need. In this case Pint is the last of the big three and I think the Brewers take him. It is a risk, but one we have to take. Going at #5 Riley Pint
