  1. I don't think it is as impressive as some think(while picking up lots of money), but I am not the biggest Gallo fan. Then again the experts call him a Top 10 prospect so maybe I just don't appreciate the potential. I just don't see him being more than a .250 hitter, lots of power, and a boatload of K's. I realize he could put it together and be a superstar...but I just don't like the odds. That being said those experts(and most GMs) probably love him and value him highly which would make that prospect combo an amazing addition to the farm.
  2. No it would have a really negative effect on the Brewers attendance and revenue.
  3. Jimmy Nelson isn't even remotely close to Shelby Miller. Jimmy Nelson doesn't have an MLB track. Shelby Miller had two seasons with an ERA near 3.00. 10 good starts is absolutely nothing. A few bad starts and his ERA will explode. To have an ERA that low all season you have to be very good and very consistent. I will agree their peripherals are similar, but track record and results goes a long way for trade value. I think a Shelby Miller type trade is what the Brewers would look for, but I seriously doubt anyone is going to offer that if he has half a good season. You never know though...
  4. They wore those uniforms a lot during last years disaster start attempting to right the ship via uniform change. They also wore the other ugly BP uniforms too.
  5. Well I would be happy if we got the biggest potential pitcher in the draft. Riley Pint is scary good and just needs some fine tuning. Yes his mechanics aren't perfect, but he hasn't been able to focus on baseball as much as others. He has shown improvement and there is no reason to think he can't continue. He throws 100mph and some think he can still add velocity. He is riskier than Groome, but his ceiling is incredible.
  6. I am all for picking up money, but $90mil is ridiculous and not even realistic. If the Brewers loved Gallo I could see $40-$50mil max. Though less if Tate is the only other piece. I know the Brewers offered Moncada about $25mil so maybe with flexible finances an MLB ready Gallo would garner closer to what they offered Abreu($50mil?). Don't underestimate the worth of an elite prospect. Moncada got $70mil and while I don't think Gallo quite has the value of him he isn't far off.
  7. Chris Capuano stats are horrible. He deserves to be DFA.
  8. Wow so in April(heck May too?) we never wore the Road Grey by choice. First road game of the year probably didn't have a choice(maybe) and I am confident they had no choice for #42 day.
  9. I thought I saw them very early on, but can't remeber the last time is saw them in a game or highlights.
  10. Well...I don't think so. In this era uniforms and all that fun stuff is just a big marketing gig. All about the money. It isn't like it makes the players perform better so them liking them isn't really a huge deal.
  11. Pitchers typically pick the uniform for the game they start. I know the Brewers still practice this because of them wearing the BP uniforms last year all the time and sometimes the retro would pop up on a day other than Friday. The fact they have worn them so much is just due to the players liking them.
  12. But unfortunately it is what all the GMs think and Braun's value isn't even in the same universe as Lucroy's to them(according to many rumors).
  13. Range is a big problem for him. He can't get far and when he does it usually isn't pretty missing plays a decent 1st baseman can make. It is passable, but no doubt below average.
  14. That makes very little sense for the Brewers. Not only is Harvey struggling greatly he is only controllable through 2018. Can we compete in 2018? Honestly you would be trading 1.5 years of control of Lucroy for maybe one year of Harvey when we are competing. Assuming we go all in. I don't really see the point.
  15. Power? Not check. 3 doubles so far? Brutal.
  16. I sense AJ Puk wouldn't make it to #5 if the Phillies passed on him. Then again I haven't really heard much about what the other 3 before us think of him. Puk sounds like a lock at #1, but I also heard the Phillies might be interested in Delvin Perez because they could go so underslot on him. I am sure Groome is still in the discussion too. I have a hunch they go Puk though since he has done well of late. Scouts are back to calling him a potential frontline starter and he should not be too far off being a college arm.
  17. I doubt Jimmy Nelson is willing to sell himself as a #3 starter at this point so how team friendly would a long term deal really be. Also when you add in all that luck etc. what would his stats even look like? Would his ERA even be under 4? My main problem is people are getting overly excited about Nelson and overall I think he is doing worse this year than last. That doesn't make me want to rush for an extension. I would let him ride out the season and then decide whether or not to offer an extension.
  18. If we don't go pitcher I would love to see us nab Delvin Perez. I think he oozes serious offensive talent and he is a guy who can stay at SS. The speed would be awesome to have too. I am not really concerned about the character issues to be honest. The way I look at it he will have many years in the minors to mature up and hopefully it won't effect his performance. It isn't like he is Puig and he has to learn at the MLB level. Another bonus is we should be able to save some of our bonus pool with an underslot bonus. My only real concern with Perez is the tendency to pull the ball like many have mentioned. It comes down to whether or not they think they can teach him to be less of a pull hitter.
  19. 1. Who the heck said Villar was one of the top SS in the game? His stats are solid, but not great. I also don't think his defense is anything other than average. If you take into account his near .400 BABIP I am not surprised by what he has done so far one bit. 2. Jean Segura's trade value was that of a worthless player at the time we traded him. Also his production on the field when we trade him was pretty horrendous. When you account for taking on Aaron Hill's salary and then trading a prospect back to them what exactly did Segura net? Anderson?
  20. How can anyone seriously give any concrete opinion on Stearns at this point? I am no super fan of Stearns, but I won't be grading him on a couple months. This rebuild will take many years and like every other GM that has ever existed he will make his fair share of mistakes along the way. I don't think it looks good or bad. He is just getting started and I don't think any of his moves are looking bad or great because it is just too early.
  21. Nelson and Hader as our 1/2 punch? I don't know many scouts that think either is more than a #3 starter. Yikes
  22. I wouldn't say Stearns really hit on Villar, Carter, or Guerra. Villar is hitting similar to what he did last year with the Astros. I'd say what he is doing isn't surprising at all and not something Stearns should be patted on the back for. When it comes to Carter I also don't find his production all that surprising. His average is coming back down to earth and after that happens he isn't far off previous production numbers he has had in the past. The jury is still out on a guy like Guerra since it has only been 3 starts, but I don't think he is very good. Like a lot of players I think he is having that early success when teams have little to no scouting reports. I don't expect him to really amount to anything...but hey we don't know yet. I also don't think he made a mistake with Segura. It was very clear he wasn't turning it around here and he traded a pretty worthless player for a good player in Diaz. I also think Segura's numbers are still severely inflated and once they come down he won't be all that great like he seems now.
