  1. Aaron Hill should get us a nice prospect at the deadline. He is still a solid veteran hitter that can play both 2B and 3B. Someone will want him.
  2. Alright I couldn't help but laugh at that throw into center-field. That was just bad.
  3. With a lefty on the mound? Heck no. He isn't that fast and his lead is probably pretty bad. And the Brewers catch Conley sleeping and there isn't even a throw.
  4. With a lefty on the mound? Heck no. He isn't that fast and his lead is probably pretty bad.
  5. We don't really need Werth. Just pay them the money equivalent. Not a huge deal we don't get to pray for a turnaround next year.
  6. Trea Turner straight up for Braun is an overpay. I wouldn't put money on that ever happening.
  7. I'm really not going to divulge into the whole PED thing, but we all know Braun is hated 100x worse for what he did. That's just how it is whether you think it is right or wrong.
  8. Well you kind of do since they are the ones that spend the money to watch the baseball games and the only reason it exists. If your fans are going to hate your new shiny player with a passion that really isn't something you want. You also run the risk if Braun doesn't live up to expectations. That would be one ugly situation. And while players do switch teams and go to their rivals that almost always happens in Free Agency not by trade. They also usually are not former PED users that lied and are so strongly hated. The hate Cub's fans have for Ryan Braun is up there for worst in sports. So if you are a GM sitting at your desk considering this kind of move these things can play a role. The negative attention it would bring the organization would be pretty substantial. You also aren't likely to have fans go out and buy a bunch of his merchandise so that doesn't make matters any better. The Cubs would be pretty ill-advised to make such a move. They would be better off going with a different option and avoiding the risk and circus Braun brings to the table.
  9. agreed, which is why I'd like to see Braun retire a Brewer... Which, if he plays out his contract, will be hard to do. We will hopefully be hitting our stride with no room in the outfield when we reach the end of his contract and we all know he isn't the best infielder. I think it would happen more if teams could reason keeping aging players around. However usually younger options become available and the older players are left to find a desperate team with a big hole.
  10. Who said he couldn't occassionally? Your question was to permanently move him.
  11. 1. Braun waiving his no trade clause under any circumstances to go to the Cubs would be unlikely in my opinion. Cubs fans absolutely hate him with a passion. It would likely be a pretty uncomfortable place to play baseball for him. I think he could go just about anywhere and be welcomed fairly well, but not to the Cubs. 2. The Brewers sending the face of their franchise to their arch rival would be received very negatively. It would not be a pretty site and casual fans would be pretty upset. 3. Cubs sending major prospects the Brewers way, that kind of thing rarely happens. You don't want to help out other teams in your division. Sometime it can work with minor prospects, but when you start talking players with All Star potential good luck. 4. Cub's fans hate him a lot. Bringing him in to anger your fans just doesn't seem like a good idea. I get it if he hits well they may forget for the most part, but right of the bat you are going to get a ton of negativity around your club. His debut would be boos and not so nice signs. 5. Cubs are already the best team in baseball by a wide margin. This move would bring a lot of unwanted media attention and would be a distraction. I don't think they would really want that. 6. Cubs don't necessarily need a long term OF bat. Not sure it would make a ton of sense. 7. Lastly you have all the other issues with Braun that makes a trade harder for any team. Injuries, age, contract etc. Some of these are major obstacles and some more minor, but add them all up and what are the chances such a deal happens? Even 1%? I could not care less where Ryan Braun goes for the record. I am just being realistic on this long shot speculation.
  12. First thought...nice solid misleading title there by the writer. Second thought...never going to happen. There are way to many reasons why this would never happen. I don't even think we could get past his no-trade clause to even start the list of reasons it won't happen. Did I mention it won't happen?
  13. What is up with Lopez? Walks are out of control. He has always lacked a good bit of control. Outside of last year his WHIP has never been below 1.33 and his walk rate has always been fairly high. Really outside of last year he has been pretty horrendous his entire career. He succeeded last year because of limiting hits and getting strikeouts...without that it has gotten pretty ugly.
  14. I don't think Villar is going anywhere unless they get a really good offer. We still have a black hole at 3B and Villar could play a vital role on a contending team even if he isn't a starter. I don't think we would get anything good enough to warrant trading him away.
  15. Poor Colorado Springs has to face Julio Urias today.
  16. I think that was just setting the bar high and then go down from there. Jeffress has a lot of value. Not Giles last year value, which was high for ANY reliever, but big enough that he should bring back a high end package. I think there may be substance to the rumor of them having a good relationship etc. etc. and not wanting to trade him. The rumored asking price is ridiculously high. It is like the equivalent of asking for Lucas Giolito and Trea Turner in a Lucroy trade.
  17. And that is the problem. If we want some elite prospects we have to pick up money to make it an under market value contract. We pick up $20mil or so suddenly he is very attractive and more teams can afford his contract.
  18. Should be interesting how Braun goes about his no trade clause. Part of me wants to believe he would just accept a trade to a contender and let both sides go nicely on their way, but I could see him screwing us over and having big demands(picking up option year).
  19. Doubt the price went up. More likely we had a crazy price(that expected him to hit like this) and maybe we can get that crazy price now. Before teams were trying to knock down the prices over injury concerns and his lack of production for a big part of last year.
  20. All of the event uniforms are disaster this year. So ugly.
  21. I wish, but that just isn't how things work. No team will pull the trigger this soon. Though a lot of teams might start framework for a potential deal.
