  1. Not Cravy...he doesn't pitch anywhere close to like that. Regarding the catcher he might want to bulk up a tad if he has pro ball aspirations.
  2. Stearns would LOVE to go 81-81! Why would you not want this team to go 81-81? If our team destined for 100 losses wins that many games on this low of a payroll we have one nice looking future. That our a lot of players having solid season to trade for more prospects. Why would you want the #1 pick? You realize that means a lot of players having to be horrible? Lucroy, Peralta, Nelson, Davis, etc. all having poor season. That won't help trade value very much. Also means all these buy low guys we acquired probably flopped. The #1 pick isn't as great as people want to think. A lot of very bad things need to happen to get it. In short Stearns doesn't want that pick if it means he has to take all the negatives with it.
  3. I honestly thought that site was one of those sarcastic joke sites. The article was so poorly written I had to cringe. Clearly he doesn't know how to write sports articles. Sports articles are suppose to be to the point and that writer non stop was adding fluff and extra description words to everything. I am actually still not sure if that is a serious site. The "Gene" at the start was so stupid and unprofessional I truly hope they aren't trying to run a real site.
  4. Tank job? Seriously? The Brewers are not wasting roster spots to tank. End of story.
  5. And six years younger. A 19-year old kid can change a lot as he matures in his early 20s. Yup...just saying for size comparison he is similar to Scooter Gennett right now. More an interesting fact vs. meaningful.
  6. For anyone wondering Isan Diaz is listed as the same size as Scooter Gennett.
  7. brewers also deleted Segura's contract, so the Hill's "Real" cost os even less $2.6 mil gone from Segura and added $550k from Anderson. So roughly $4.5 mil added with Hill coming on over. If my math is right... Anderson really isn't an add because it is league minimum. We would pay someone that any way to be on the roster. However you need to remove that 550k from Segura because someone still has to fill his spot on the roster. I know you get the same amount...
  8. After considering Segura's $2.6mil contract minus league minimum we only took on about $4.5mil.
  9. Wow so you mean we took on a bad contract to get a promising young player? Dang we are getting everything we request these days. Are you reading this right now Stearns?
  10. You know he did just fine last time he went from AAA to MLB. I don't see the issue and I really don't think it will have a negative effect on him. At most he is in AAA till August because at that point there is no reason for Garza to be on this team whether he is pitching well or pitching badly.
  11. He is going to have to fight for a rotation spot. He sure didn't pitch like he wanted it going down the stretch. Now he has to go prove it in spring training. He has no one to blame but himself if he ends up at AAA.
  12. You know I am just going to throw this out there...but if you ended up giving them like the first player they asked for maaaaaaybe you gave up too much? Usually you start high and kind of end up meeting in the middle. If Dave Stewart got graded for his negotiating skills I think he would have an F.
  13. I know I seem to be the only Segura fan on here, but I would say he instantly becomes one of the best defensive 2B's in MLB. He can steal a ton of bases. If he can hit .270 he could be a 3-5 WAR player at 2B. Yeah, I know I'm crazy. But again, the guy is only 26 You are trying to tell me you think Segura will have 3+ WAR defense at 2B?
  14. I would be surprised to see anyone outside of Garza getting moved before the season. Why sell low on Peralta when you don't have to? I would rather just send Jungmann or Davies to AAA for half a season than sell low on Peralta. If someone wants to pay for 2014 Peralta great, but if someone is looking for a bargain just send someone to AAA.
  15. Maybe they will dump Garza to the highest bidder? I wouldn't be surprised to see Davies or Jungmann go to AAA...though I wish we could find a way to make that not happen.
  16. So my understanding is they will use Segura mostly at 2B? His bat makes him a questionable starter at SS...2B? Good luck with that D Backs. Was there seriously nothing better out there?
  17. Honestly seems it was a perfect match and we got lucky. D Backs wanted a SS(I guess?) and had a very promising player, but so far off he was expendable. Seems like typical Dave Stewart. His whole job depends on probably the next 3-5 years so what worth does Isan Diaz have to him? From the D Backs perspective seems like a very odd trade. Trading Anderson for someone who MAYBE is Anderson someday and then trades for a fringe starting SS and give back a promising SS prospect. Looking forward to seeing a Arcia/Diaz DP combo someday...let the dreaming begin.
  18. I feel like you should have put this in the Off Topic section. This really makes zero sense for baseball because teams don't intentionally tank. Actually the only sport where tanking is seen is in basketball. Even in the NFL the bad teams are trying to win in week 17. Bottom line tanking doesn't exist in Major League Baseball.
  19. Except Diaz showed quite a bit of power last year. To be exact he OPSed over 1.000. He could easily slide over to 2B or 3B...though he is pretty short for 3B.
  20. Wow amazing deal for the horrendous Segura and a nothing special maybe back end of the rotation starter. Aaron Hill-(whatever) Chase Anderson- He isn't anything special, but teams are always searching for back end of the rotation guys. Come the trade deadline we could easily flip him for an interesting prospect or two. If he improves a bit even better. Not to mention we can have him another 5 years. Could be a solid veteran pitcher on the next contender. Isan Diaz- He is the real star of this trade. Honestly if you ask me we will all look back on this trade three years from now and wonder how the heck we got him for a couple of role players.
  21. 2B Scooter Gennett 3B Jonathan Villar C Jonathan Lucroy RF Ryan Braun LF Khris Davis 1B Chris Carter CF Keon Broxton SS Yadiel Rivera Couple Notes: This is my everyday line up not my opening day line up. As Gennett would clearly not be playing against Mad Bum. I went with Keon Broxton over the newly acquired Liriano. I think this will be a spring training battle, but unless Liriano performs way better I think they go with Broxton. From what I have seen Liriano is more of an option for the corner spots not center field. Already seeing them say no to Santana on CF I would expect them to go with Broxton who has much better defense. Still on the subject of Broxton one could make an argument to putting him #1 or #2 and dropping Villar/Gennett to #7 because of the speed he provides. However until he proves to hit at the MLB level I think I would keep him at #7. Also my gut tells me they will put Jonathan Lucroy #2, but my personal preference is to have him at #3. Maybe one of Villar/Broxton will hit enough at the start of the season to allow my lineup to come to fruition.
  22. Kodi Medeiros is underrated by Brewers fans and I find that pretty surprising. You would think people would get excited about a guy giving up no homeruns and striking out over a batter an inning in his first real taste of pro ball. Not to mention he was 19 playing in A ball and is left handed. Heck he also was really solid in not giving up many hits. His walk rate is a bit high, but nothing I would be overly concerned about. There are a lot of players that struggle with control issues when they first get into pro ball. I would be a bit surprised if he doesn't push himself onto some Top 100 lists before 2017. If he ends up in A+ he should put up some really nice stats.
  23. Hasn't it already been rumored the Brewers want Gallo and the Rangers said no? So cross him off your list...might as well consider Mazara a definite no too. If someone offered a Top 10 prospect we wouldn't get anything else worthwhile. Gallo and Mazara is ridiculous, anyone thinking that is possible needs to come back down to earth. Prett sure Monty said that with sarcasm...but NO, never going to happen. Maybe we could get Brinson, but even that I find questionable. After that their next best prospects float in the #65 range. I wouldn't mind a deal centered around Tate to be honest. That is probably the best player I could see Texas giving up. Tate and some other solid prospects would be a good trade. Maybe we could get Tate and Ortiz then call it a day.
  24. What if we aren't getting good deals. It is already known We are stuck with Braun unless we want to just dump his salary. You want to just throw away Braun for nothing to keep Flores? What if we aren't getting much offers for Davis? Want to take a couple C prospects when the rumored DH could come to NL? Just so we can keep some guy that might be a 4th outfielder some day? I'm sorry that just seems like a dumb thing to do. Broxton and Liriano should make the team and outside of them there is nothing all that promising I'd be sad to see leave. Also deciding to trade one of Braun or Davis isn't going to open up any more spots for these young guys we acquired. As it stands we probably have 2 openings for the 3 possibly 4 players if you include Kirk N. You trade one of Braun/Davis and Santana will surely get that players spot since he can get full time at-bats. If you don't trade either of them Domingo Santana almost surely goes to AAA(in my mind) since he has option(s) left. Either way you only have 2 spots for 3/4 players.
  25. Just because he is picking up a bunch OFers for next to nothing means just that...nothing. It isn't like we invested anything into them. If someone doesn't do well in spring training you just cut them. If they do nicely and you don't have room for them you likely can trade them and recoup whatever you lost. To think picking up a guy who was DFAed signals the likely hood of someone being traded just doesn't add up.
