  1. Big fan of the cream city one and the MKE one is nice too. Something about the simplicity of the MKE one just peaks my interest. Can't say I am sad to see no 1990 themed stuff. Probably because I didn't grow up watching them in that era, but the uniforms and logo were downright hideous. Not to mention the entire era was a joke overall and should not be remembered.
  2. So what happens if everyone does it anyway? Just kick everyone out? I mean...that seems like stretch.
  3. So you want to trade assets for a guy you only want around to marginally improve a bad team. Then trade him for less assets than what you gave up to get him. Probably a lot less. That just makes no sense for a rebuilding team. Charlie Blackmon has no upside potential to the Brewers.
  4. More importantly who really is pushing for these rules? Kids? Doubt it. This is almost surely pushed by the parents and school administrations. Many times the students don't care or even notice. You know who is starting to care more about the outcome these days? The parents. I have literally seen parents cry because their team lost. This is probably about parents getting upset because their child was the one who made the mistake.
  5. Rocks are pretty tough...
  6. In full support of this. What you should be ashamed of is kids negatively chanting at other kids playing a game...just trying to have fun. While some other kid sits on his butt making fun of him/her. There is no need for this at that level. So many kids are playing sports at that level for different reasons. Once I saw a kid horribly miss a fly ball and everyone was making fun of him. His background? Foreign exchange student who never played baseball before. Great example of HS sports becoming too serious. Not allowing negative chants is suddenly some kind of crime? Yikes.
  7. Sadly the Brewers are worth near $900mil. Add to the fact the value is only booming you would probably have to pony up well over $1bil to buy the team. That is if MLB would even approve you to run a team. I know you weren't serious, but if the jackpot keeps growing maybe it will mean something.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no concrete closer...actually I would put my money there won't be one. With one RHP and one LHP why not deploy which is more favorable? Lots of lefties send Smith and if a lot of dangerous righties send out Jeffress. I have a hard time Both get their closer experience to market to interested team and the lower save totals will knock down their yearly salary. Though if I had to pick one Will Smith probably gets the nod.
  9. I think the most serious draft punishment would be one first round draft pick(maybe another lower pick or so). I'd also want the signing of any player with a pick attached to them that given year to force them to surrender a future first rounder. And that same rule to apply until they have an offseason where they sign no player with a pick attached. So they truly are surrendering a first round pick. I don't see an issue of taking their bonus pool money away. That is what happens when you sign a free agent and lose the pick. Maybe if the league believes the Astros were hurt by this they can be given a comp pick to essentially make up for that money in the draft. Honestly I don't think it would be a problem to just take the pick and money away.
  10. You can't really compare the draft to international FA. The draft has limitations with penalties for going over. If it was a free for all type draft(like the NFL years back) there would be ridiculous contracts for these players. But in a way yes it is a lot of money to burn too. The Dodgers can take many many gambles other teams just can't rationalize.
  11. It will never fail to amaze me how many people get their panties in a bunch over a few people not voting for a guy with 99% of the vote...seriously does it even matter? Who the heck cares if a few guys opt to vote for someone who may need a boost and whatnot. At this point sooooo many guys have never gotten 100% of the vote to even get it now wouldn't be some banner achievement. Just seems incredibly stupid that countless people flip out and there are article on the topic. He got in and on first ballot. No difference between 75% and 100%...nothing.
  12. Hmmm...probably not so much because I bet he is a moonshot type guy and not so much line drive. However the short porch in RF will gain some opposite field shots for him.
  13. I don't think anyone is calling him a major trade piece. We're probably aren't going to turn him into a Jake Arrieta. We aren't picking up a Jason Hammel to turn into something big. He could easily bring back an interesting prospect. Maybe it is only a power arm in the low minors, but that is something. I would be happy with that. And there is always the dream he hits .250 and his value really increases. That would put him as something like a poor mans Chris Davis.
  14. My bad with his incentives Carter will make $3mil(yes I expect him to hit them all). I haven't seen the amount till now. Regardless $3mil is a big difference than league minimum plus many more years of cheap control. Value wise Jason Rogers is more valuable, but when it comes to actual production I don't think it is a total given. Rogers had a nice run, but that was in just 150 ABs. Who knows how his production will be playing every day. I think Rogers is the better player...I think, but Carter is right up there with him if he hits like he did in 2014. Bottom line as a Brewers fan I much prefer what we got for Rogers plus Carter than just Rogers. I just don't think Rogers will have much value as a 1B so he was expendable. Now we have a guy who may figure it out or more likely flipped for another prospect to throw Ito the mix. I will take that risk.
  15. Obviously, the Pirates disagree with your assessment. They could have had Carter without giving up anything. Except Chris Carter would cost them upwards of $5mil and would only be around a year before he is in non tender limbo again. So it really isn't that simple. Especially since the Pirates are so cheap.
  16. Why does everyone think Chris Carter is so bad? Sure his average was probably too low last year, but before he put up respectable numbers. Sure his average is low and he strikes out quite a bit, but I know a lot of player who have zero power and can't draw a walk to save their lives that are considered good hitters. Yes he has two tools that are very bad, but he also has two very good tools in his power and ability to draw walks. If he hits .225 or above I think he can be considered a decent hitter. Chris Carter has potential in his bat and has shown it in the past. I don't agree however that a team will trade for him thinking they get more control past this year. I am going to bet his incentives are easy to reach(PAs etc.) and he will reach them. If that happens he will make closer to $5mil this year. I doubt any team will give him a raise to $7.5mil or more...I see him in the same situation next year unless he manages to hit .250 all year...which seems like a stretch, but possible.
  17. I'd prefer guys like Lucroy and Davis be traded tomorrow, but that may just not be realistic. The market might just not be there for Khris Davis right now. Hopefully Stearns times it right and gets the most value he can.
  18. If so, wonder if this means they at giving up on a lucroy trade. Would have thought that Wilkins was a good candidate to go. I'm ok with this as a stopgap. Could possibly turn him for prospects if he has a good 1st half. Or Pinto was just 40 man roster filler that was easily expendable if/when something better came up. I'd put my money on Pinto having nothing to do with a possible Lucroy trade.
  19. Exactly why a trade with them will never happen.
  20. Will will enjoy all the bombs. Not sure he really sucks. Has a career 110 OPS + Could have some value at the deadline for a team needing a power DH. Kind of guy who get you an interesting project if flipped.
  21. Yah if we start throwing Ward's stats around might as well consider Leal the future catcher of the Milwaukee Brewers.
  22. If we somehow found ourselves competing to a serious degree I would imagine we would acquire a veteran arm at the deadline. If we somehow didn't look competitive at the deadline yet found ourselves competing in September then we just ride out with whatever we can patch up. Honestly if we find ourselves competing in September those guys are pitching well and you just throw inning limits out the window. Though our 90% chance at a 87+ loss team and a <1% chance at a competitive team come September this is a bit ridiculous to talk about right now.(All number made up by me) ADD: Between AAA and MLB Jungmann threw 180 innings so no concern there. Only real concern is the person in the #5 spot assuming inexperienced. ADD #2: Even Davies threw 130 innings last year so as a #5 not a lot of concern over a full season of work. Would only throw 170 innings over a full season. So moral of long post there isn't any real inning limit concerns.
  23. Well I don't know what his value is now so immensely may be an exaggeration. If there aren't many teams chasing him for his cheap contract the interest right now is probably pretty limited. Now if you take that low value and he suddenly has a big first half and then the outfield market is shallow at the deadline his value would be way higher. The increase in value between now and the deadline depends a lot on his current value which no one really knows.
  24. The Packers will be an elite team again. More health on the offensive line and the return of Jordy Nelson will make the offense very good again. The importance of Jordy Nelson on the receiving corps will be huge next year. Suddenly Cobb will look like a star again and Rodgers will actually feel comfortable. The defense has been pretty good considering how much they are on the field. The Sam Shields injury has killed them of late. Oh let's not forget a very easy schedule next year that could easily end with a #1 seed at the end. Joke is on the Vikings for winning last night. Packers have no chance and it helped the Packers a lot for next year. Won't have to play Panthers or the Cardinals because of the loss.vLet's be honest they were an elite team before injuries went through the roof. They will look just like new once they draft some depth and get healthy. Aaron Rodgers is still leading this team. As for the rest....well good thing I am not a Bucks fan or Badgers fan. Both look miserable.
  25. No -- absolutely not. He's 28 & it's very clear that he's not going to improve notably. GMs & talent evaluators don't make small-sample assessments like fans assume they do & like fans themselves do. Just like a club that liked him wouldn't hesitate to trade for him if he had a bad month to start the season, a good month or two isn't going to change things. He can't change his value immensely in either direction at this point... and it can honestly only go down. The change in market alone could change his value immensely. So no, you are wrong. Not saying it will or won't happen...but it easily could.
