  1. Everyone needs to just take a dang breather. It is the 28th and most trades happen in the last 24 hours. The world has not ended.
  2. Blown opportunity? What if it was never possible? What if nothing we have is worthy of Hoffman to them?
  3. It isn't the fact that he attempted the steal...but the fact he didn't have a good jump/lead and had a good chance of getting caught. With DP Lucroy coming up it wasn't the worst idea....but not something you do if have a good chance of getting caught. The rest is laughably overblown because it is Gomez.
  4. A lot of money switching hands. Jose Reyes is owed a boatload and he is average at best. Improves the return for the Rockies though.
  5. Strange trade by Blue Jays. They need pitching.
  6. Right we could sit on him and it get much much worse.
  7. Jonathan Lucroy has officially grounded into more DPs than last year. Took him a fraction of the ABs to do it. He also has grounded into more double plays than he has extra base hits. OUCH
  8. They might also feel they will get more in value during the winter meetings than right now. He won't finish out his contract with the Brewers but he may not be moved by July 31st. According to the report(take a grain of salt if you wish) they are simply hesitant to trade him no matter what the return is. Just because of his contract and the fact he is in his prime. Possibly they are overvaluing him right now. There really is no reason for Carlos Gomez to be here past July 31st. The interest is there and I am sure teams are offering good packages. His value can not get any higher and the Brewers have little to no chance to compete next year. Like I said I have to assume they are going to be offered fair value this week as everything seems to point to that. Contenders are all over him, non contenders are knocking on the door, he is the biggest name hitter on the market, plays a premium position well...I mean now is the time to trade him. I think it is all a game, but I guess we wont know till he is traded or when the clock hits zero on Friday.
  9. No, they are afraid of the PR backlash from the transaction. How many fans outside of Milwaukee even know about his past? Then how many care? I am going to assume that % is quite small. People are more concerned about his 30 pitches of terror than some domestic violence.
  10. Just saw a report where Brewers may not move Gomez because he is cheap and controllable...I guess one more non contending year is considered controllable. Either smoke and mirrors or this managment team is considering a very stupid non move.
  11. Well if they are afraid of his domestic violence past that means they are afraid of commitment and that means they are afraid of the contract. So yes they are afraid of the contract.
  12. Most rival execs expect Gomez to be the biggest name traded at the deadline and as said above his market is taking shape. If contenders and non contenders are looking at him I think it is likely he is traded. He is going to draw a lot of interest and the Brewers don't expect to sign him long term. The rumors have been quiet, but I personally think he will be traded.
  13. Not sure if next year's contract - $7.5M plus a $2M buyout for 2017 (or a $6M salary if I am correct) makes k-rod more or less valuable. Less most reports say teams don't like that future money. He would be better off as a rental.
  14. I'm thinking if that is the best we are offered we should just hold on to him till the off-season. I can't imagine getting a worse best offer. I'd want higher ceiling players. Though not Syndergaard...that's just ridiculously unreasonable.
  15. He is average offensively and strikes out a lot. This is not the player we should be focusing on for our future. If we were contending and Yuni B was at 1st ok maybe. Right now this is not the kind of move we should be making.
  16. Opposing teams that want Lind think he will land with Cardinals according to reports.
  17. I have seen fans of the Twins bang that drum a lot lately...and it makes no sense. Where are we going to put him? RF?...No. LF? Why so we can trade a nearly identical player? There is no where to put him.
  18. Probably moving closer to a Gerardo Parra trade.
  19. I took that as them just keeping him if they don't get a real offer. If all we are getting offered is reliever prospects etc. he may have more value just mashing for $8mil. I wouldn't be surprised if no one wants to give up anything.
  20. I don't think the whole division thing really matters here. They shouldnt have to require any extra value just because the Cardinals are in the division. Lind will never effect our ability to compete unlike let's say Lucroy would. If we don't make a trade with them just so we don't help them win the world series now we are a horribly run franchise. Who cares if they win it when we can't.
  21. Yah they want OUT of it. Not just transfer it to other crummy players.
  22. So then why does that make sense for the Padres? The fact they get a SS that isn't even good and maybe a very slight upgrade? Sure they save a little bit of money, but like you said I'd rather have a guy who is at least decent.
  23. All I was doing was questioning why you didn't like Davis over his OBP when half the team is just as bad or worse. One of which you had on the Brewers future plans. Because from what it sounded like to me that was your whole reason to consider to trade him. Also I didn't say Pentecost would move through the minors fast over 100ABs in A-. I mentioned it, but it was just an add on statement. I actually didn't say why I thought he would move fast. My reasoning is the fact he was a college bat and did well in his first taste of the minors overall. He could probably be ready in 2-3 years if he comes back healthy. Of course he may or may not go fast through the minors, but a lot are expecting him to do so.
  24. The real crime here is the fact they all have gigantic egos the size of the Hindenburg.
  25. Anything related to Tal's Hill? That is always sure to amaze. Sadly Houston is taking it out.
