  1. From what it sounds like I don't think we are getting a Top 100 prospect for Garza if we trade him. We would have to add more than $5mil and he would have to pitch much better.
  2. Scooter Gennett is a waste of time hitting/defending like this. Even if he rebounds he will be average at best.
  3. Right now they are averaging something in the neighborhood of 1.7 homeruns at Miller Park. Any other year is is closer to 1.1 which is a huge difference. This is not just a Miller Park effect.
  4. MLB.com lists him as 205...an article from jsonline.com from 2011 stated he was a personal high 210 that year. Though I don't know what he was listed at on MLB.com in 2011. So...unless 5 pounds counts I don't think so.
  5. Amount of HRs given up this year is a absolute joke. C Mon Rick Kranitz what are you doing? Help these guys out.
  6. In terms of value I'd say it is in the ballpark. Realistically it makes little sense for the Red Sox. They aren't desperate.
  7. Gatewood, Medeiros, and Harrison are all at Wisconsin because the Helena Brewers have yet to start their season. Their season starts on the 18th and I would expect all of them to be demoted...maybe Medeiros has a long shot...but the other two will be demoted. The Brewers opted to try them with the T-Rats vs. extended spring training. Why they did only they know. EDIT: Helena Brewers don't start till JUNE 18th.
  8. Orlando Arcia was signed out of Venezuela...not really a guy we drafted.
  9. Well most importantly I think he just wants to stick it to MLB. And as far as asking for more than what he was asking for I think he could. He could argue he would never have asked for just league minimum if teams were actually able to go after him. It's really just a big mess...money probably not important to him.
  10. Probably at least 5-7 guys I'd take over Segura. There are quite a few guys with some decent stats.
  11. We're trading Lucroy, Gennett and Gatewood, and not getting a single top-100 prospect or major league player in return??? Blair's a very good catching prospect from Oakland posting a .976 OPS at AA (http://www.baseball-reference.com/route.cgi?player=1&mlb_ID=542942), and Walsh (http://www.baseball-reference.com/route.cgi?player=1&mlb_ID=595023) is a switch-hitting second-baseman who's posting an OPS of .842, Correa's (http://www.baseball-reference.com/route.cgi?player=1&mlb_ID=621043) delivering huge offensive performance at age 20 in AA (I misspelled the name), Atherton (http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=athert001tim) and Hader (http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=hader-000jos) are posing good numbers so far, and Hader's 21 at AA. Phillips (http://www.baseball-reference.com/route.cgi?player=1&mlb_ID=621433) is putting up some huge numbers as well, and he's 21 at A+. I am trying to be as nice as possible...but is this actually serious...? Carson Blair is not a very good catching prospect. He is some scrub the A's picked up in November for organizational filler. The other two A's minor leaguers don't even show up on their Top 30 list either...nor does Codiera for the Astros. The other two at least show up on the Astros top prospects list at #7 and #9. So for Gennett, LUCROY, and Gatewood all we can manage is two so-so prospects and filler? I mean maybe I missed something and apologizes if I did, but this is what I understand from some quick research. EDIT: ALRIGHT I see the misspelling of Correa. That makes that deal make negative sense for the Astros. They get limited value in the deal and give up 3 of their Top 10 prospects with one of them being one of the best prospects in the game. Yikes
  12. No, a manager can select whoever he wants. Bruce Bochy is pretty solid at picking his own guys despite much more deserving candidates. The whole best stats thing doesn't always hold up. Yah Gomez doesn't have the solid stats right now, but then again we are trying to pick an All Star after 30 or so games. I can't seem to remember who it was, but I know recently a utility player was selected to the game. The player's stats were great and all, but lacked plate appearances badly. EDIT: I think I am thinking of Omar Infante in 2010.
  13. Carlos Gomez...even if it is this week. Seriously you are a manager and you can bring one guy from the Brewers to be on your bench. You are taking the gold glover/elite hitter/speedster in Carlos Gomez. You could argue Lind as a solid PH choice against a RHP, but the other manager could easily counter. I want the 5 tool player on my bench.
  14. Scary some people wanted to send Khris Davis to AAA...yikes.
  15. Agreed. Matz plus some lower guys would make a lot of sense for both sides. Brewers get an MLB ready lefty starter and the Mets get the cheap controllable SS they have wanted since Reyes left. If the Mets continue to lead the NL East I could see it for sure.
  16. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/5-impact-mlb-trade-ideas-that-actually-could-happen/ss-BBjjdWE#image=6 Here is am article for anyone bored and wanting to see something related to the Brewers not about losing. Regarding Segura- Mets make sense...but I'd think Molina is horribly low. Desperate mid season buyers I think Matz seems more in line. Regarding Louse- Yup...seems about the best we could hope for.
  17. More their fault for employing Dusty Baker as their manager for so long, as he consistently abused pitchers' arms and disregarded pitch counts and high stress innings Not like that has changed. The game Cueto pitched at Miller Park he threw 126 pitches. Yikes
  18. Two takeaways from this game. 1. GREAT to see Davis have a really nice game after showing lots of confidence in interviews yesterday/today. 2. GREAT outing by Nelson. Yah sadly 3 hits went out of the ballpark. Part of that is just bad luck...some days it seems like they smack every one of your mistakes. 11Ks, 1BB, just 5 hits, and 7 solid innings is what is important.
  19. If only Clint Coulter didn't exist. Pretty sure someone who doesn't make our top 20-30 prospects isn't going to magically get a ticket to the futures game. Nothing against him but you need some kind of track record to get into the futures game. Also I couldn't find his BAbip, but judging by the fact he strikes out in 22% of his at-bats it is probably incredibly high. So a large regression is probably coming. Even then he might still be able to have a .300 batting average...not too shabby for a guy picked in the 34th round to be a pitcher. Can't remember the last guy I saw who switched positions and hit the ground running so well. You would think he has been hitting all this time. I can understand why you might be a little biased in favor of Leal though Hard to tell if Josh was indicating for this season, but since Leal is a Puerto Rico native, Coulter wouldn't be blocking him from a World Team spot regardless (and clubs have had multiple Futures Team representatives, even on the same squad, in the past). Of course, just based on pure numbers, most organizations have two reps each year, but the Brewers haven't exactly been swarming in candidates in recent seasons. For 2015, one would think Coulter and Orlando Arcia might make this a very fun game for us come this July. I was going to mention Arcia but I wasn't sure if they could appear twice. Though now I remember Profar doing it twice.

  21. Maybe they still believed in Roenicke? Maybe they felt they owed him something? Maybe Attanasio didn't trust Counsell yet. It was noted Melvin listed something crazy like 18 reasons Counsell should be the manager. Sounds like a lot of convincing. When Counsell backed out of the possible Rays job he claimed, "I like my job with the Brewers right now." Does that mean he truly does like to executive job which the Rays didn't offer him some role in that way...while maybe the Brewers are still letting Counsell do some of those special assistant jobs? Or does that mean he just likes being with the Brewers.
  22. I really don't think he ever had interest in the Rays job and I don't think he would truly considering managing else where. I personally think he knew he could get the job in Milwaukee after Roenicke would inevitably be axed. I wouldn't even be surprised if Doug and Craig talked about it. Maybe getting deep into the Rays search was something to convince Melvin. Regardless I highly doubt Doug and Craig didn't talk about the job until magically 2 weeks ago.
  23. 9 free passes in a game...best way to intentionally lose a game. EDIT: 10...
  24. Still can't believe that is the best the Jays could get for Lind. I know his splits aren't the greatest, but he hits like an MVP vs. RHP. I guess the Jays valued Estrada...
