  1. Having to watch the AFC playoffs with a bunch of back up QBs is sad, pathetic, and a buzzkill. This Ravens QB has the IQ of a 4 year old.
  2. Garbage call, but Cook helped set up that crummy situation. Before the two minute warning he caught it and instead of running upfield for 2-3 yards he went for the sideline. There was no reason to run out of bounds, but he instead did that for no gain. Blows my mind they call that play knowing they can get tackled in bounds and the person getting the ball has no idea.
  3. I hate it, but they call it all year long. Smacked him in the helmet with his hand. 9/10 that is called.
  4. He could have the greatest coaching and talent around…what he has done is still impressive for a rookie that was essentially undrafted. Certainly, he benefits from being plopped into a golden situation with a ton of talent to help him out. You still gotta perform and makes plays. I suppose the question becomes, how will he fair as teams get more film on him…and is he actually a pro bowl level QB or is he more like the guy he came in for. He certainly seems like a legitimate starter.
  5. Babe Ruth probably wouldn't last a month without getting demoted in today's baseball. I would take Barry Bonds...too good to pass up. A-Rod would be next up.
  6. Define a few connections. I don’t mind connections..,but 27 hours flights (including layovers is a bit much).
  7. I like robot umps for challenges…not making literally every call. I can’t recall how it went in the minors, but I’d love to see a set of limited challenges and the only person who challenges is the hitter/pitcher/catcher…and they have to do it quickly. A new skill set would be born. Hitter having a good eye and having self control to understand if they should use a challenge on it. Im not sure using it for every pitch is going to bring some 100% accuracy. From what I have seen it can be pretty subjective and questionable due to what defines each hitters strikezone and a computer to accurately call it. These terrible umpires are off mere inches on the calls many complain about. Will a computer be any better? Maybe more consistent, but accuracy is debatable.
  8. Must mean they are settling on that 13 year extension. Must be why he bought that Phoenix area home. Nice and close for Spring Training. Must have been some reason he bought a $4.7mil house on career earnings of $7.1mil, right?
  9. Typical cheap Brewers at work making sure to spend as little as possible.
  10. He had like a 90 QB Rating for his career. I find it hard to believe no team thought that could be useful as a starter. His last season his QB Rating ranked #17. Even if you are more of a QBR person that is #23. Justin Fields is being hailed the savior the Bears have been waiting for and he was basically like Colin K, last year.
  11. You are using the advantage of retrospect though. As I said before, when Arcia was a prospect the SS position was horrendous. Finding average offense was almost impossible to get, even if the defense wasn't that great. Teams trotted out Yuni B as a SS on NLCS teams. When he was a prospect his ceiling was Top 3 SS in the game and even if he didn't reach his ceiling Top 10 seemed almost effortless to achieve. He hit for an .800 OPS in 2015 at AA at the age of 20 years old. I am pretty sure there wasn't a qualified SS in 2015 at the MLB level with an OPS over .800.
  12. The fact that anything car related, despite having absolutely no mention of electric cars, will have a comment section filled with anti-EV people having a meltdown about EVs. *10 car pileup on I-94" Anti-EV dude: "WoW, WhAt If ThOsE PeOple HaD aN ElEcTrIC Caaaaaaar, iT wOuLd RuN oUt oF BaTTery WaitiNg." Other person: "Uhh...do gas cars never run out of fuel?"
  13. The actual shipping speed is always the same it seems. I am guessing to operate the way Amazon does everything gets shipped the same way. The difference tends to be that to make it take more than two days they just don't fulfill/ship it for 1-2 days. Whereas prime that sucker has a tracking number and on a truck within hours.
  14. In 2016 he was pretty much a consensus Top 10 prospect in baseball. MLB.com had him at #6 and Baseball America had him at #8. What is your definition of being hyped nationally? Hard to get more hyped than that. I don't think this was a huge piece of his prospect value, but regardless, he did hit his power projection. He was only ever expected to hit about 15 homers at the MLB level. He has definitely had that kind of power most of his career. I don't think he is in a different stratosphere, he is just a different kind of prospect in a different era. Chourio is a high offensive ceiling guy and Arcia was an elite prospect at the most premium position on the diamond. He was both a hitter and a defender...something that pretty much didn't exist back in 2016. Of course now, I don't know if Arcia would have been even a Top 50 prospect because the SS position transformed into one of the strongest places on the diamond. Wasn't the case when he was coming up though.
  15. Didn't say he did or didn't. I don't know. Neither does anyone else because he didn't get charged. He is definitely an idiot, but I already pretty much said that. Your last paragraph is simply the point I am trying to make. Plenty of idiots, douchebags, and criminals find themselves on teams just fine. If Bauer somehow does not...I don't think it is because no team wanted to sign him.
  16. I guess all I am trying to say is, if Bauer ends up getting signed by no MLB team and not even offered some kind of MiLB deal...then I think there is more going behind the scenes to keep him from getting signed than his poor image. Whether that is his own doing or not isn't what I was trying to get at. I can't imagine all 30 teams really care enough to not sign him, so if he is signed...I have to imagine the league just collectively decided to blacklist him. At least Bauer wouldn't be a weekly circus. No one would care by the end of Spring Training. Really easy to dump a guy who is making $720k too.
  17. I am not comparing what they did. I think that should be pretty easy to comprehend without trying to twist it like I am comparing sexual assault allegations and kneeling during a song.
  18. His ‘85 wasn’t bad, but he still only put up 1.7 WAR. The last two years he is in the negatives. All said and done he average 0.15 WAR over those four years. I am certainly not giving him brownie points for longevity when that is what he did. I guess if I was going to give a guy some credit for longevity I think of a Ryan Braun. Who, despite falling off, still managed an OPS+ over 100 every year of he career and never ended up being worthless any year he had played. Does not quite seem right to give a guy credit for longevity when, in retrospect, the team would have been way better off had he not been on the team any more. It didn’t really add anything to his legacy.
  19. Someone almost tricked me into picking Cooper because of longevity…but now I look at it and Cecil Cooper was total trash the last four years he was a Brewer. So then it is basically 6 years versus 7 years. I think the answer is comfortably Prince Fielder. He was the better hitter and dWAR would tell me both sucked on defense. I think Fielder gets bonus points for actually being a homegrown guy, watching him come through the minors, and then mash they way he did. You can’t even name a down time or bad part of his career. His minimum games played in a year was 157(!!!!). His entire career is great start to end with us.
  20. If no one signs him it’s because the media and/or league made him not signable like Colin Kaepernick. I have no doubt the MLB has plenty of owners that would sign him and not care one bit. I always find these kind of cases in sports to be so ridiculous when it comes to what the league does. It’s all over the board and never consistent. That being said, it shocks me a high profile athlete would even do this type of behavior with some random person they don’t know that much. Long term relationship, sure, but this kind of relationship? Seems like you are destined to eventually get burned.
  21. There is only so much NIL money to be had in Madison, WI. I really doubt three star recruits are overly chasing NIL money either. The Badgers go from a joke of a history getting QBs to having half a dozen because Fickell found NIL money between the cushions? I can't imagine there is really much to be had unless you are a big-time recruit or a notable established starter. No doubt NIL money is a part of the wild transferring, but I don't know every single guy is just out there deciding based on NIL opportunities.
  22. Set your calendar reminder, the Brewers are going to the 2031 World Series to lose to the Red Sox!! If anyone is wondering, the homegrown players are likely to debut in 2025/2026. If we lock up Jackson Chourio early maybe he can still be on the team at the brink of 30 years old!
  23. No, they just got rid of their stale in-house coach finally. Said it for years, Badgers needed to grow a pair and take a risk at the HC position. People always thought they couldn’t recruit a QB or WR because of being Wisconsin and being run heavy. Clearly it was the coach and his inability to know how to recruit these kind of guys. Sure, maybe Fickell bails in 5 years to go coach Alabama or something…but hopefully by then he has the Badgers as a real force that the top available coach will want to sprint to.
  24. Yah, it really comes down to this. They aren't really adding payroll and their 'record payroll' isn't really anything to actually find impressive. It really is just baseball inflation at work. However, they also aren't really cutting payroll or being cheap. I suppose it would be nice to see them do like they did in 2012 and give it a go before they payroll inevitably shrinks a bit due to losing some expensive stars...but is what it is. I don't get people really getting hung up on what is likely a $10mil (maybe less by OD) payroll reduction. MLB players cost money and usually in the form of multi year deals. I don't really want them to find the need to sign some middling player for 3/$30mil just so we can make sure the 2023 payroll matches the 2022 one. People like to complain about baseball's smallest market ranking in the teens for payroll. We should be glad our owner actually cares. There are plenty of other tiny markets (and even some larger ones) that the owners love to penny pinch and still are trotting out sub $100mil payrolls.
  25. They are a concern to some teams, sure. I don't know that Boras is lying or swindling the Twins. The teams see his injury history and medicals...past that it is on them to make a judgement on it. Unless he is providing false medical data, it is simply his opinion that it isn't a concern. It may lower his chance for another long-term deal, but not entirely. Justin Turner got a pretty large contract when he was 34, I believe. If he stays good it may cost him money, but not as much as you would think. You can still get a nice multi year deal in your 30s. Instead of having the next 10+ years of salary based on 2022 salary standards, another contract will get based on salaries over half a decade from now. Compare salaries 6 years ago...pretty wild. It is exactly how the Braun contract extension did end up a big disaster. By the time the 5 year contract ever started salaries boomed. Then by the last few years of that extension $20mil was hardly a large salary and you didn't need to be MVP level to command it. He may never get a contract to take him to 40 years old....but after this offseason, I don't think any team would have done it anyway. I doubt in 2 years a team would have forgotten all this, see his medicals, and hand him a decade contract. It is fair to wonder if the Mets getting concerned had a domino effect to the other teams. Had he agreed with the Giants/Twins first those teams might not have batted an eye at anything.
