  1. They should draft a QB themselves.
  2. 22 years old, walk issues, uses one pitch 55% of the time, and has one super nasty pitch. He will be a reliever sooner rather than later.
  3. Important to remember they don’t have to announce extensions for FO guys or even managers. Often times it comes to light months after it actually happened. I seriously doubt the Brewers are going to have Matt Arnold lame duck in his first year. They could give him a three year extension and fire him in December without shedding a tear. He doesn’t make $20mil. If they lacked that much confidence in the guy he would even be running the team to begin with.
  4. Brosseau is gross? He has a 117 OPS+ last year. That is nearly double what Toro managed last year. Brosseau has never really gotten a lot of playing time in a season to really know how his splits would be in a starting role...but over his career they do lean more favorable against lefties. If I was a betting man I think they go with a Toro/Brosseau platoon to start the season. After the Super 2 concern passes then they can make Turang the lefty side of the platoon. Because more than likely, Toro won't be any better than a rookie Turang can do with way better defense. In my opinion, a Brosseau/Turang platoon is likely Top 5 2B production in baseball...easily. For all the talk about 2B/3B, we were already Top 10 according to B-ref for both positions (#9)
  5. Sometimes I wonder how people can even be fans of teams like the Orioles or Blue Jays. I honestly wouldn’t. The strangest was their 2014 title. 2013: 93 Losses 2014: 97 Wins 2015 91 Losses
  6. If Toro is our everyday 2B, I may have to give up on this franchise. The ban of the shift (the shift isn't being banned anyway) is not going to make Toro a passable bat offensively.
  7. They also have a World Series Championship. Idk, think I would take that over a grand ole 9 more wins.
  8. Wily Adames would get $20mil a year on an extension. Not sure he could command Swanson’s per year average of $25mil. For all the flak Swanson gets about his offensive track record, Adames is arguably no better in the consistency department. Maybe the Brewers would give him a higher AAV to hopefully shorten the contract and not pay him $20mil+ at 35 years old. If you gave him 7 years right now it would only go through his age 33 season. If he wants to cover his two arby years plus the 7 FA years Swanson got, no way it would be reasonable for him to get $25mil+. Adames has two years to up his value, but that is on him. He can risk it and try to be worth $30mil+…but he also could pull a Baez. Lucky for Baez he had a bounce back year to trick the Tigers into thinking he was actually good again. Still a far cry from what he could have had from the Cubs long ago.

  10. Swanson is a better comp, and honestly, a pretty darn good one. Comping Wily Adames to Rafael Devers feels like borderline clickbait. Adames is older, farther from FA, and is nowhere near being on the same planet as Devers offensively. Devers has posted a .900+ OPS before and has been an upper .800 OPS bat the last two years. Devers is a proven elite bat, Adames couldn't post a .300 OBP last year and has been very inconsistent over his career. Adames simply does not have the track record nor the elite offensive ceiling that commands these big contracts.

  12. This was the marketing team shortly before announcing this killer FREE(!) event on a Wednesday night less than two weeks away:
  13. I'm not sure I would label our offense as being able to score points. We haven't been terrible lately, but not like we are really lighting the word on fire. The Bucs offense is absolutely terrible, Tom Brady in the postseason or not. The Cowboys can score, but I can't imagine being all that confident in them not blowing their chances per usual. Not saying Purdy is great, but we once lost the conference championship to a guy throwing 8 passes. This is the kind of year I would just want the elite defense. Brady is not scary at this point, Rodgers isn't scary, Dak is Dak, and I have little confidence Cousins has any shot to carry that team multiple games like he would need to. Right now the odd are Eagles then Cowboys...then a massive drop off to the Cowboys/Vikings. Seems about right.
  14. I always live for the next installment into the 'hot dog side hustle' story. The boring answer is trade in your truck for a sweet van. haha
  15. In my opinion, if the game is canceled completely, sucks to suck. Whoever was leading wins, unless they voluntarily decide to split it. Life isn't fair. I get these circumstances are unique...but people get screwed weekly on their guy getting injured 2 minutes into a game...or your #1 pick tearing an ACL within weeks. Getting screwed over is like the definition of fantasy football.
  16. Sir, that scrub QB has led their offense to 30+ points 4/5 of his games. All of those teams are decent and most are fringe playoff teams. He has played well. If Jimmy G can take a team to the Super Bowl and then the NFCCG again the next year...this guy can easily lead a team over the NFC this year. Who exactly is concerning for him to beat? Maybe the Eagles, but they could easily never end up facing them.
  17. Honestly, I think it is a nice gamble with $4.5mil. Miley has been a really effective starter when healthy. Yes, a lot of injury history, but we won't be counting on him to hold down a rotation spot for 30+ starts with no logical back-up plan. We have slew of legitimate starter quality guys to step in if/when he gets hurt. We are going to be quite happy if we get 2018/2019/2021 Wade Miley.
  18. I watched a few of the recent movies in theater before starting from Phase I. She told me while watching those movies in theater they wouldn't make any sense until I watched from the beginning of the Marvel Movies. To be honest...I am lucky if I can get through an entire movie and not be confused about the plot. The whole comedy part of the movies is fine to an extent...but seems really overdone. Blooper-like comedy in the middle of a big action scene seems like an interesting choice. But I guess that is a Marvel movie thing and just expected after awhile.
  19. I’d sign him and also hang a picture of him hoisting the 2023 World Series Trophy on my wall too. I think we have had enough bums to play for us at this point another one won’t hurt.
  20. I remember many (myself included) wanting to try and get him in a Gomez or Lucroy trade…can’t remember which it was way back when. The deal is a big one, but a FA contract starting at age 27 is a big deal. 27-32 alone is 60% of the contract. Even if he tails off once he gets to 33+, that’s hard to be sad about if his bat stays as good as it has been. Way better deal than throwing a huge deal at a 30+ year old. At least you can be pretty confident you get half a decade of really good performance and the rest of it the guy is at least palatable.
  21. The problem is, shifts aren’t being banned. Putting your 3B/SS 50 yards into RF is being banned. We go back to how shifts were before. 2B shading towards 1B and playing on the back of the dirt…then the SS will virtually just be directly behind 2B. While we won’t see piss missiles getting caught by guys halfway into RF, those guys hitting the ball that much to one area are still at a big disadvantage in the grand scheme The MLB.com article does point that out. 10 extra hits is nothing to sneeze at…but hardly world changing. Not to mention, as people have said, other teams will have guys benefit too. So even if you think we were one of the most unlucky teams against the shift, the gain is hardly anything to get excited about because it probably won’t matter much competitively. Maybe the games are more exciting though.
  22. Yahoo is going to backtrack everything if the game is ever resumed. Pretty easy as any real league involving money doesn’t play Week 18 anyway. Last week of the fantasy season any reputable commish/league should just wait for it to play out before paying out. If it is canceled off the schedule then it is up to the people playing and if it affects things. Personally, I’d just split the winnings with the other guy…but it would technically be up to whoever officially won under the cancelation.
  23. I mean…that’s really reaching. I doubt we are acquiring players hoping to then trade them for Sean Murphy, but then find out he is too expensive, and then somehow the A’s setup/demand the Braves to trade Contreras to us for the Braves to get Murphy. Is it possible we acquired Ruiz full well knowing we probably would ship him off before ever having a chance at the MLB level for us because of the depth in the OF? That’s certainly plausible. Not sure anyone in the Brewers FO thought Ruiz was that amazing to another team that we could just flip him for an All Star catcher. I doubt anyone in the FO thought Yelich would turn into an MVP overnight either when we acquired him…but hey, sometimes things go better than you could ever imagine. Or…worse.
  24. Right, I get that isn’t how it works. If he didn’t have to pack up and go through the big adjustment of another team/catcher/etc. he might have turned it around the next day with us. Who knows…impossible to know how he actually would have performed had he stayed. I don’t really care about it at this point. I think we got stupid lucky the A’s wanted Ruiz that badly and we basically got to turn Hader into William Contreras. BUT I would rather be lucky than not lucky. Stearns basically drew up that trade as a big mistake after the season and the tide quickly changed within weeks. That’s baseball for you.
  25. He blew two saves (both of which the Padres won and one of them was a single UNearned run). He only costed them one game the entire second half with the Padres...a game that was tied when he went into it. 46% of the earned runs he gave up came in 0.1 innings of work in which the Padres were already down by three runs to begin with. His sole earned run in September was also in garbage time. I believe Taylor Rogers epically blew three games that he was handed a lead in and left with the Brewers losing. Hader never came in with a lead and left down. So if you want to take them at face value with their performances Josh Hader would have been a net +2 wins...which would have put us in the postseason over the eventual NL World Series team. I don't know why people keep digging up the Hader horse to beat it again....but to make it seem like Josh Hader sucked and was poor for the Padres is 100% a polar opposite of the reality. Hader was huge for the Padres.
