  1. Personally don't see J.B. as a starter moving forward, but he could be a very valuable piece to a team.
  2. So, we are going to head into 2018 with Braun, Broxton, Santana, Brinson, Phillips, Cordell, Thames, and Aguilar? No they're moves that will have to be made. But buying a year and a half rental to "contend" this year and next goes against DS's core mission statement. I'm all for acquiring more young, controllable talent for those pieces just not the rentals. The Cubs are a borderline dynasty and it would be wise to follow that model, and not blow our load for this year and next. I don't mind winning, and I'm not in Hinkie's tank club, but the Cubs are likely gonna hold this division for the foreseeable future, so asset management is key.
  3. The more I think about it the more I think that buying now would be a colossal mistake. STAY THE FRIGGIN COURSE.
  4. Me on legend difficulty playing MLB 17 the show.
  5. Thoughts on Heliot Ramos Patrick and AT? Those projected tools are absolutely tantalizing, but I doubt he gets to 34. I'm also in the Tristan Beck camp. A lot of interesting options with that competitive balance pick!
  6. Really?! Wow after that hot start I thought he was a new man this year. At least that's what sportscenter said. Goes to show how big national attention gets when you're in a large market. I remember Puig first coming up, and after three weeks in the show people were billing him as "more talented than Harper." (Really wish I could find that clip because I believe another analyst said he was comparable to Trout) Heck even Trayce Thompson was a "star" for swinging a hot bat for a couple weeks. Ridiculous.
  7. No matter if he never played again, it shouldn't effect anything the Brewers are doing or want to do. Don't get me wrong I love Braun, and contrary to popular belief I think he's a wonderful person. That said that amount of money, while the payroll is low now, could hurt us in the near future in terms of flexibility. I don't understand people who want to trade him now while his value is at an all time low. He's hemorrhaging money, but would you really want to eat a large portion of his contract just to see him on another team? Because we certainly aren't getting back a prospect worth a damn.
  8. My thoughts on Carlson earlier today. A really great draft (from my perspective anyway) at this point might be something like: 9. Carlson 34. Vientos 46. Heatherly Yes, three HSers so that may be unlikely, but I would be thrilled. I'd be quite pleased as well, but gotta think that eats up the lot of the bonus pool. I really like your top H.S. arms you suggested. Anyone of those arms (I'm warming up to D.L.) including Baz and I'd be more than happy. Hell I'd be downright giddy if Gore is there.
  9. Boy this contract is gonna be a disaster for the foreseeable isn't it.
  10. So there is "smoke" around Sam Carlson in some recent mocks as a suggested name. Can't say I know much about him outside of he's from the midwest and a has halfway decent change up. That's enough to get me root for him haha.
  11. Yeah Adell and Kendall would be kind of disappointing. We already have players in our system that fit the mold of player they are. The only OFs I take with confidence are Beck and Smith (99% certain he wont' be at 9). I'm absolutely not against drafting a pitcher. I'm just saying we don't NEED too. I'd be shooting for the moon this draft tbh just sick of the "safe" picks.
  12. New mock from Taylor Blake Ward. Here's the Brewers bit. Interesting not a huge fan of the pick, but the fact that we're supposedly cutting deals is news to me. http://www.scout.com/mlb/scouting/story/1779690-ward-mock-draft-3-0
  13. Seriously our strength right now in the minors is pitching. That could change quickly, but pitching is hardly a need. I will say it till I'm blue in the face BPA!
  14. Really don't think Erceg is as disappointing as a lot of you think. Sure you would love a bit more consistent contact, but I don't see a whole lot of red flags.
  15. The highly valued pieces I'd be willing to part with starts and ends with Hader, Clark, and Ray. Mind you I'm a huge believer in Ray.
  16. I'll go to hell if the Yankees have Rutherford and Beck fall in their laps two years in a row.
  17. Found his youtube channel. A lot of him taking BP in quite grainy quality, but it looks like the swing needs more than a bit of work. I like taking chances on a physical specimen like this though. Quality power potential which is how it should be if you're 6'6 at 17. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4DXW4uq_MWPfBDsaROQ1tw
  18. That "screwball" he throws makes my elbow even hurt. Brinson all day every day. Ray and I'd think about it, but even then it's quite a bit of risk.
  19. Yep gotta think Espino is gonna get one shot on Friday. If they like what they see who knows? But I'm super stoked to see Peralta in the pen. Actually been been beating this dead horse for the last year in a half. I think he'll have a hell of a lot more value as a high leverage reliever.
  20. A lot of you guys clamoring for a pitcher don't realize the potential for our pitching prospects to progress into the #3's, #2's, and aces of the world. Degrom for example was written off as nothing but a back of the rotation guy, and now he's one of the best RHPs in ball. It's not unreasonable to say a couple years from now our farm will be loaded with arms. Some might already be hiding.
  21. I would have kissed Stearns if he could have gotten a C level prospect for him in the summer even kicking in the 12 million. Right now Garza doesn't look horrible which by some stretch of the imagination is a tiny miracle. He could be a more than decent asset come summertime.
