  1. I don't remember who put it up, but I was hoping to get a hold of that video slideshow of the Brewers with The Zombies song playing in the background. It was taken down during that terrible slump, but #%*%%# I loved watching it. Put it back up please! This will be our year!
  2. Unsubsidized? Your parents must be making decent scratch then. You should count on them for some help, since being their dependent greatly affects the loan offering you get. That said, don't hesitate to take loans. If you are going to get a degree and a job in a field you enjoy, it is all worth it.
  3. Jeffress and Rogers... Yay! Always more excited about the link report when the "big names" are throwing. Edit to add Scarpetta. He's another dude I look forward to each time.
  4. He committed 8 years at a rate that nearly everyone thought and continues to think was quite low. The fact that he was willing to negotiate past his initial FA day at all shows some commitment and loyalty.
  5. This statement is perplexing to me. You have a problem with Braun's persona...fine. He's definitely the most clean and confident (maybe cocky) speaker on the team (how can Weeks, Fielder, and Hart still be so timid?). If you aren't into that, that is fine. BUT.. How can you "not really care about that kind of stuff" regarding loyalty in a player? I still can't believe Braun signed the deal he did. He could have waited a year or two and got 60 million over 5 even in this down market. He's signed up into his 30's, so he clearly didn't consider hitting that FA deal in his prime. He's going to be a Brewer for the next 6+ years at a great rate even if he doesn't improve at all. A guy who was itching to go "big city" doesn't sign that deal. We have another player on our team that you could make that arguement for.
  6. But what if he stinks it up again Wednesday? I don't think they should skip him, but your reasoning is faulty. It is something that could be considered.
  7. He's so good in CF that I actually enjoy watching him out there. Can't say that about too many defenders.
  8. You have to figure that we have him signed right now for something like 5 yrs, 30-35 million. Think we can get him to sign a better deal than that?
  9. I'll take a 3-gamer for Yo. We'll call it the Josh Beckett penalty.
  10. Looks like Villa's getting some room off the plate according to Gameday.
  11. I'd guess Hoffman can't go 3 days straight, especially coming off injury. Why even use him on Monday, then?
  12. Charter FSN has it on in Wausau too. Never even checked til this thread.
  13. So I see Sanchez got HBP in the first. Can I get some details?
  14. Nelson would probably benefit greatly from regular play with Nashville right now. I don't know how that is feasible, but he needs some swings. Maybe him and TGJ could switch spots for a little while.
  15. I have Bengie Molina in fantasy baseball and I just noticed today that his OBP is lower than his BA. Pretty strange for a regular player this far into the year. I suppose a free swinger like Molina might stretch that anomaly out a bit longer.
  16. I was pretty much just looking into a small sample regarding the statement that HOF players generally are in the majors at 19-21 years of age. I certainly wasn't and I don't think the other poster was implying that Gamel is a HOF player.
  17. HAHA...My brother is a friend with Trenni. That's awesome. I'm sure some guys actually have pages. I couldnt' say who, though.
  18. I'm Ryan Braun's friend. Well, somebody who put a Ryan Braun page up, anyway.
  19. Sorry, had to do that since that song is going to be stuck in my head all night now. The only thing I'd tell my 16 year old self is to apply my/yourself more in everything you do. Just because you can coast by in school and get A's, don't do it. That attitude will stick! Find something you love and push yourself. You might think you are working hard in sports, but there is more you can do. Oh, and don't be such a wussy with the women. Looking back, I passed on a lot of action and potential relationships because I was worried about what others thought, or I was just too damn scared.
  20. Pujols-21 A-Rod-partial seasons at 19, 20. First full season at 21. Manny-Partial season at 21. First full season at 22. Jeter-Call-up at 21. First full season 22. Frank Thomas-Call-up at 22. First full season at 23. Chipper Jones-Call-up at 21. First full season at 22. Jeff Kent-First partial season (102 games) at 24. First full season at 25. Jeff Bagwell-First season at age 23. Here's a quick list I put together of recent players who seem HOF bound. I tried avoiding steroid-babies for the most part, with obvious exceptions. Good variance of age there. Not a whole lot of 19-20 year olds. Around 21 seems to be a popular time for debuting, especially for extended stays. I don't know if this has anything to do with the thread really, but your age ranges got me interested so I did a (very) little, rudimentary research. Generally I think age needs to be taken into account on a case-by-case basis. Ryan Howard could have been in Philly long before his 26th birthday, but there were reasons he was not.
  21. The worst call this year on a steal attempt cost Rivera a caught stealing. I believe that was against the Cubs. I don't remember the play, but it could hardly have been worse than when Kendall gunned down Reyes last Saturday. That was an obvious bad call. I thought they had Werth at 2nd last night too. It was close, but the ball beat him there and the tag seemed there as well.
  22. Batting Kendall as little as possible is always the better option. Seriously. He doesn't even look like a major leaguer up there at the plate.
  23. We have a lot in common.
  24. I'd say... Oh, you got so much going for you, going right. But I know at 16 it's hard to see past Friday night. I wish you'd study Spanish, I wish you'd take a typing class. I wish you wouldn't worrry, let it be. Just have a little faith and you'll see. That's what I'd say if I could write a letter to me.
