This is a game where we need to keep the pedal to the metal on offense. -
Ortiz needs to be on a short leash. If he can't become more competitive offensively, we should turn to Mona for an extended period of time.

Big game today. They have a chance to pull 6.5 games ahead of the Cubs, and 6.5 games ahead of the Phillies. That lead against the Phillies would effectively be 7 games with the tiebreaker. With 21 games left to go after today, you would have to feel pretty good about both of those races.

Anthony Seigler is not good at baseball.

Ashby has been awesome, what a comeback story. He should be moved into high leverage situations, with perhaps Robert Gasser sliding into Ashby's long relief role. Ashby should be in serious consideration for the starting rotation next season.

These games against the DBacks are critical. If we can get these next two games and hope the Cubs lose one of the next two, I would feel good about the division. It still feels like the division is within reach for the Cubs with us having the Blue Jays, Phillies and Padres left on the schedule.

This should be Uribe’s first game as closer. He is much more of a sure thing than Megill is right now.

Offense is dreadful to watch right now. We can’t get Chourio back fast enough.

Turang is our best hitter right now. He should be hitting third in the lineup.

This team seems far too strong to completely fold up against their division rival. I anticipate them winning at least one of the next two games, if not both. Miz just needs to throw strikes tonight and he'll be fine.

With the crazy premium being placed on pitching, we really need to consider trading Cortes. I would think he still holds solid value for teams needing SP.

The Cubs can do that because they have an astronomically higher payroll than we do. If they give up prospects for a rental, they can go sign another 2-3 free agents the next year. We don't have that luxury.

He's the one guy on the trade market who could vault us into favorites to win a World Series. I think you do whatever it takes to land him.

I agree 100%. They can't rest on their laurels because of recent good play. Most if not all of the other contenders will make moves and improve their rosters, and so should we. The competition will only become more fierce following the trade deadline.
