  1. I'm thinking next week on the road against the Cubs and Cardinals would be a perfect time! "We can bicker about this all night, but what's done is done"- Dale, STEP BROTHERS
  2. Well he was the AL Player of the Week a few weeks back so as a Milwaukee Brewer fan I'm hoping he is just a streaky hitter. However, his on base skills are less than desirable for a trade target. IMO, the Brewer fans who rationalize that every Stearns move is brilliant "is beginning to get a little bothersome." To each his own, I guess. Go Brewers!
  3. Jonathan Schoop's first week as a Milwaukee Brewer 25 at bats 3 hits 0 bb 11 SO 2 r 3 rbi .120 avg .120 obp .160 slugging .280 ops 3 fielding errors And for the Small Sample Sizers... .263 OBP in 392 abs on the season Better times ahead...
  4. I trust Davies in the rotation more than Woodruff. I'm not going to let a few bad outings at Colorado Springs change that opinion. Although, I'm in favor of them being patient on bringing him back to the Bigs. Davies 191 IP and 3.90 ERA from last year earned him his rotation spot, IMO. Oh, and I realize it's cool now to not care, but he DID win 17 games for the Brew Crew last year as well.
  5. You can think that, but obviously it wasn't enough or a deal would have been done. Stearns was trying to trade for a SP more than anything else, and looked into all of them. It wasn't enough. And when you add the word "controllable" it wasn't NEARLY enough.) Simply not true. The package that landed 2 and a half years of Kevin Gausman was FAR, FAR weaker than the package that Stearns gave up to get Schoop.
  6. With this same sentiment, I could be a signal that Stearns was doing his 2018-2019 offseason work early and acquiring a starting 2B for 2019 season. This would allow them to NOT rush Keston Huira and count on him as our 2020 starter at 2B. He might have figured that although there is not a need for Schoop now, I'm sure Counsell can work out the lineups and it gives us some nice offensive depth for our 2018 playoff push. I'm sure the Orioles convincing Steans that Schoop can play some SS sealed the deal. If true, I still do not like the move and think it's a mistake. Don't even think Schoop will be worth paying what he will cost in his final year of arbitration next season. Really think a Ortiz/Carmona packaged deal should have landed us a controllable SP upgrade.
  7. I don't get everyone coming to Stearns defense with the argument that he had to make trades, bad or not, to clear 40-man roster spots. SERIOUSLY? So he was determined to add Ortiz to a deal just so he could get rid of him? Even if the trade was unnecessary? Why did he trade Jean Carmona then? He wasn't going to be a 40-man roster issue for several more years. This argument doesn't hold water IMO.
  8. You guys all make great points. However, if the NL WILD CARD GAME fell on the Wednesday after the season ends like it did last year, I think it would have been preferred given the extra day of rest, especially if there has to be a game 163. My guess is that MLB alternates which league hosted the first wild card every other year and it happens to be the NL's turn to be first this year.
  9. Brian Dozier is a much superior hitter, IMO. Just makes the addition of Schoop at the price we paid that much more puzzling. And this isn't just about the last two games, either. Schoop's track record of getting on base is atrocious. He didn't even walk one time in the month of July.
  10. And to make it worse, it was a “not a good” baseball player that we didn’t need. With that said, he’s now a Brewer and is entering his prime so we need to cut him some slack and hope for the best. Shaw is a superior player IMO and it’s frustrating knowing that he will be losing abs this season because of this move. However... Stearns did it, I believe it, that settles it!
  11. MLB 2018 Postseason Schedule Released https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-2018-postseason-schedule/c-288538936 Potential bad news: The NL Wild Card Game will be played Tuesday, October 2nd, one day before the AL Wild Card Game. If it takes Brewers until 2 days before that to clinch, our Bullpen may not be well rested. Hopefully this is the Cubs concern, lol
  12. More potential bad news: The NL Wild Card Game will be played Tuesday, October 2nd, one day before the AL Wild Card Game. If it takes on until 2 days before that to clinch, our Bullpen may not be well rested.
  13. Woodruff is a better option for certain. I think it will be valuable for his development to get some more MLB starts under his belt. Since he wasn't traded, I think this means that we likely sink or swim with Woodruff getting some August and September starts in the midst of a pennant race. We also need the rest of the current rotation to stay healthy, IMO. Very risky but it's a gamble Stearns decided to take.
  14. I think that list really shows that the Brewers are going to sink or swim with the lack of SP depth we already have.
  15. Not possible. Would never make it to us on Waivers dude
  16. The Nationals still worry me. It's like they are lying in the weeds...
  17. Don't fool yourself. The Brewers would let him go if he were claimed and someone took on the entire contract. Would help them be "serious" about winning BEYOND this season.
  18. Question: When is future MVP and Hall of Famer Keston Huira going to get called up?
