  1. I doubt the Brewers pony up the money for Grandal if the decision to non-tender Schoop isn't made, either.
  2. Great points by Joey Meyer Bombs and Fear the Chorizo!
  3. I think Marwin will be out of our price range, personally.
  4. There are certain guys that seem to bring out the best in their teammates. Josh Harrison strikes me as one of those guys. Would love for Stearns to get him on an affordable one year deal.
  5. I still think he might circle back around to Whit. Peralta, Ray, Dubon, and Taylor Williams, and Houser... who says no? Whit Merrifield? Brewers say "NO" times x1000
  6. I have a feeling Stearns is gonna surprise everyone and trade for a starting 2B.
  7. Good info from BFnetter Joseph C as well as from Kiley McDaniel. I think it would take 2 main pieces to pry Bumgarner from the Giants this offseason. Headliner OF Corey Ray or RHP Brandon Woodruff or RHP Freddy Peralta Secondary piece RHP Chase Anderson, RHP Zach Davies, OF Troy Stokes, OF Trent Grisham, C Mario Feliciano Any insistence on Corbin Burnes being in the deal is a non-starter, IMO. Not sure if Stearns will be willing to meet Giants asking price and I agree that he's more likely a Trade Deadline candidate for a contender.
  8. I agree with this regarding the development of Brewers minor league pitching has improved, however, I think the talent level of those three are being inflated in Brewer fans minds. Just like for the previous three I mentioned. Here's my guess on what happens: - Giants don't trade Bumgarner this offseason. - Bumgarner has a nice first half and reverts to near ACE-level form - Woodruff has a mediocre first half and is used in both bullpen and rotation at times. - Giants trade Bumgarner to a contender in July and get much more than a player like Woodruff/Ray in value, in spite of acquiring team no longer being able to get draft pick compensation. IMO, the Brewers would be missing an opportunity to buy low on Bumgarner and sell high on Woodruff this offseason, while also being able to get future draft pick compensation by being able to offer MadBum a Qualifying Offer.
  9. Quetion: What makes Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff any different than Jimmy Nelson, Jorge Lopez and Taylor Jungmann? I will say that I also believe the top 3 to be better MLB prospects, however, there's a VERY good chance based of history of prospect success rates that only one of the 3 become an impactful MLB talent. Why hesitate to trade one of them in a package for a proven MLB talent like Madison Bumgarner?
  10. This notion of Woodruff for 5 years is more valuable than 1 year of Bumgarner is of course likely true but that's not how you win a World Series. Or even participate in one. That's like saying 3 years of Shaun Marcum is more valuable than 3 months of CC Sabathia.
  11. I disagree that Bumgarner will NOT be better than Woodruff in 2019. Woodruff's stock is up in fans minds because of his late season run. Bumgarner's stock is down because of an injury plagued down year. The gap in talent level between the two is significant IMO. And I mean Hall of Fame vs. Fringe Starter significant...
  12. I would be willing to trade Woodruff for Bumgarner. Burnes or Peralta are a deal breaker for me, however. Although I do remember when we had another Peralta that was "untouchable".....just sayin'
  13. Would probably take either Corbin Burnes or Freddy Peralta as the MLB-ready headliner. I'd pass as I think our current catchers are fine.
  14. Bumgarner is in the final year of his arbitration, so he doesn't have a "no-trade" clause.
  15. I'm curious if Brewer fans think more highly of Dozier or Moustakas? If the question was posed last offseason, I'm pretty certain the answer would be Dozier in a landslide. Although I'd prefer a left handed bat, I'd rather have Shaw playing at 3B than at 2B to make that happen. I'm willing to give Dozier a mulligan for his struggles last season and think he's a perfect fit and buy low candidate for the Brewers.
  16. I'm obligated to remind fans in threads such as this that Ryan Braun has no trade value.
  17. I agree that Dozier seems like a perfect fit for the Brew Crew on a reasonable one year deal.
  18. I would give up Thames and a prospect value about the level of OF Troy Stokes Jr/Trent Grisham for Sonny Gray. Assuming the Yankees value Thames and want to move on from the disappointing Greg Bird, this trade makes sense for both teams. Thames could platoon with Luke Voit as Yankees 1B while providing depth in OF corners.
  19. As if the Yankees need talent making league minimum... Yankees Mystique 1, Brewers Mystique 0
  20. Although I would also add that not just Brewer fans, but MLB baseball fans in general thought the Brewers had some "magic elixir" last season, as everyone seemed to be flummoxed that the Brewers got as far as they did in the Playoffs last year with the starting rotation that they had.
  21. I think the narrative that Sonny Gray "needs" to have Derek Johnson (his college coach at Vanderbilt FYI) back as his pitching coach is likely one made up around these parts. Although I'm sure it would not hurt, he HAS had several successful MLB seasons without Johnson as his pitching coach.
  22. Jesus spent the majority of his minor league career as a 3B. I actually think it is less of a crazy idea then it was to move Shaw to 2B in the middle of a pennant race when he had never played a game there at any level.
  23. The End of an Era. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
