  1. Who else would you put there? Holt today-play the hot hand between them
  2. God Braun out already and Sogard instead of Holt after doing nothing yesterday?
  3. Well the hitters were completely unwilling to sit back (they must’ve been afraid of being behind an 88 mph fastball even though no one was) so Darvish might be better for hitters who looked like they were constantly expecting 95 mph yesterday
  4. So if Braun is at 1B vs lefties who is DH? I mean Hijra will get some time there I’m sure but if you do that then Holt or Sovard plays 2nd......do they have good splits vs lefties? I noticed there's a bit of a gap here as well. Smoak will probably 1b/DH some of it, otherwise you probably end up with Holt/Sogard in the game with some sort of shuffle. Not ideal obviously, will be interesting to see how it plays out. Sogard hits lefties pretty well so it would be OK to have him in there, especially with Huira being able to DH and Sogard being a defensive upgrade at 2B
  5. I would’ve liked to see Holt in there instead of Arcia vs RHP (with Sogard at SS) and I don’t get some of the choices on the order, but it’s a reasonably deep lineup
  6. yay a couple more minor league journeyman pitcher signings on the way!
  7. Try to get Abraham Toro, the Astros #5 prospect, in a trade to at least have upside and controllability at 3B. He’s a switch hitter who had a 938 OPS at AAA as a 22 year old. He made the bigs for a bit but obviously is blocked by bregman

  9. Good. Then he won’t be the brewers 3B because that would be very disappointing.
  10. Aw crap! I had hopes Stearns would pony-up the money for him. Next option? I’d like Steve Cishek, Brandon Kintzler, or Collin McHugh
  11. Unless Stearns would flip Merrifield for a good 3B, no thanks. Where does Merrifield play? The Royals tried him at 3B a couple of years ago (2016/17) and it was a disaster. They quickly returned him to 2B. With Hiura at 2B he'd become the 4th or 5th OF and a backup 2B. The loss of Hader gives CC on of the worst pens in baseball and he still has a black hole at 3B. He played 6 games there. Not exactly enough to to make any determination on his ability there. Not playing much 3B might be telling though
  12. Please do the first thing you said and think about it
  13. Kyle Seager says "Hi". just need Dipoto to eat $12 million and have Kyle agree his option remains a team one. But why would Seager do that?
  14. I don’t care if battingaverage is enough for you to evaluate a hitter too, it’s still wrong. I guess Thames was a stud OF last year-zero errors! And no, you couldn’t tell a good player by seeing one, were talking about the pro levels here
  15. He's played over 4400 innings(527 games) in his career at 3B(54 errors). His career fielding % at 3B is .955. That 's good enough for me. His bat makes up for that IMO. You might be right that his bat can make up for his D, but fielding % isn’t at all an accurate way to measure defense.
  16. Why does it matter that Castellanos is out there? They already have enough OF and their hole is at 3B. And no he’s not a 3B just like Braun isn’t
  17. By all indications Diaz is a well below avg. thirdbaseman. His arm is, at most, average and he has large negative numbers as a 3B. I doubt seriously that the Astros would part with Gurriel unless Stearns overwhelmed them, which he is very unlikely to do. Very creative thinking of Nunez. A lot of power and a decent thirdbaseman. I have no idea what it would take to get him, but it's the O's so who knows. I knows Diaz wasn’t a good SS but no didn’t know The arm was such a problem. That would explain why his metrics are best at 2B. Probably not a great 3B option then. You might be right about them wanting Gurriel, but they have a AAA 3B who got to the bigs last year named Abraham toro. In his age 22 season at AAA he had a 938 OPS. Is suspect Baltimore would want some young pitching for Nunez. They don’t have a starting SS so they might be the rare team that Values Arcia a bit too
  18. Here are a couple creative options: Renata Nunez has played Mostly DH for BAL, but has An even O UZR in 77 games at 3B and hit 32 HRs with a 771 OPS 2 Astros who could play 3B are Yuki gurriel (126 OPS+)and aledymis Diaz (114 ops+). They don’t need both and have looked into Alvarez and Kyle tucker playing 1B.
  19. I think the fairytale is believing that the Brewers are ever going to be one of those teams. Also, there are plenty of teams out there that have proven year after year that spending money doesn't equate to success. Therefore, it would stand to reason that saving money doesn't equal failure. I don’t think the Brewers will be one of those teams though. But that doesn’t mean they should cut by millions after 2 playoff seasons. Non-tenders, bargain buys are fine. But also to get a quality player or 2 to keep playoff chances high
  20. Let me know when running a higher payroll equals having a better team. The Brewers have made some cost-cutting moves, but the moves they've made have been with the goal of staying competitive. They are obviously taking a few leaps of faith, so we'll see what happens. But right now this is looking like a pretty competitive squad, as long as they get solid starting pitching. My point is the financial flexibility should be used to go after a free agent or 2 while there is 1) an open competitive window, and 2) not a lot in the farm system to trade away to get talent. Also, if you don’t think payroll is a huge factor in team success, take a look at the World Series favorites right now and World Series winners in history
  21. I’d think Ryu would want to go to a competitive team, and he’s one of the only pitchers to not get more than most anticipated. It’ll be gross if, after 2 playoff seasons, the Brewers trim payroll.
  22. His exit comments made it sound like HE thinks its the former. Doesn't mean it's true but if HE thinks so, that's a problem. When in reality the problem is he refuses to even try to hit to the left half of the field or lay off high pitches (or least not try to crush them). Also, if that’s his sprint speed, he’s slower than molasses
  23. I’m thinking to myself: what does Milwaukee have more of: intriguing prospects or $ available? Based on last year, I’d say they have more $ available. Because of that, either sign Donaldson or take on a bad contract to get a 3B. Like maybe JA Happ with Urshela or Andujar to lessen the prospect loss. Or...my foolish dream yet, go after Donaldson

  25. He plays solid D wherever he’s moved so there’s no reason to think he would do the same at 3B. From the Royals perspective, I don’t see why they wouldn’t trade a guy now in his 30s, who will net a good return, when they’re not close to contending. Instead of needing the be overwhelmed, just be whelmed and get some good young players back. That said, I don’t think it’s be the brewers who could provide that.
