  1. lol @ Monastario DHing. Gotta sit Contreras, Hoskins, and Adames all at the same time because it’s a Sunday? Have one of them DH for a partial day of rest. They should’ve been doing that more often with Contreras anyway
  2. They really should be using the DH to rest Contreras more while Hoskins is out and they’re playing Sanchez anyway
  3. Murphy must be so relieved he can bench the guy who is better in every way so he can play his boy Dunn again
  4. This Dunn over Ortiz tendency is getting ridiculous at this point
  5. Now instead of comparing him to the league average, compare him to the guy who is sitting on the bench in favor of him
  6. Last time I complained about him he homered also. Gotta do it more
  7. They don’t have to offer him what he made in 2023. This is free agency, not arbitration. Belt said last month that nobody really reached out to him. If he wants to play, he wouldn’t be too choosy. on the plus side, Bauers just struck out 🙄
  8. Ugg Jake Bauers cleanup. Sign Brandon Belt please
  9. Coincidentally to the Bauers talk, there’s an MLBTR article that just published about Belt only getting one weak offer from the Mets, who’ve since signed JDM and Belt was surpised by the lack of interest, so he must still want to play. He would make so much sense as a Bauers replacement. You know, a lefty 1B/DH but actually can hit MLB pitching
  10. Does Murphy really think Adames is a better hitter than Hoskins?
  11. All 4 being sure-fire CF just goes to show that keeping all 4 of them is a bit of a waste of resources. Only 1 can play CF at a time and 3 CF options is plenty. They’d be more valuable to a team with zero CF options. For example, Mitchell as the CF is SD is more valuable to them and Mitchell as a backup/platoon/mostly corner OF in Milwaukee
  12. Wiemer would be less likely to be dealt because without him, the OF is very lefty-heavy. If they didn’t dump Taylor, I could maybe see it.
  13. What the Brewers got for Burnes is what the value of Adames should’ve been. So I’ll prepare to not be overwhelmed by the Adames return
  14. I like that the Brewers pitching prospects are guys who could help provide depth this season in the rotation, but they do need another legit starter now. They have the money, especially now, to sign Mike Clevinger and that makes sense. or maybe Edward Cabrera from Miami for Garrett Mitchell+
  15. This is a good problem to have, but there are up to 4 guys who can play a good CF and that drives the value for them. Having CF-quality defenders in the corners is good, but at what point is it not utilizing sources to have 4 cf when you can only play 1 there? especially when they could still use one more solid hitter on the infield (Brandon Lowe or luis Arraez?) and lack starting pitching, maybe trading a semi-redundant OF to a team that could see more value as a starting CF in their team rather than a platoon and/or Corner OF/defensive replacement in Milwaukee makes more sense
  16. I’ve thought of the very same trades since it could help both sides. Mitchell has more value than Polanco so the twins should throw something else in. The Brewers could use one more bat if we’re being extra hopeful, and the only open spot would be a multi-position infielder (with some DH at bats available also). So polanco makes the most sense as that 2B/3B/DH and good bat addition. If not Polanco, other options for that role would be Luis Arraez, Brandon Lowe, or maybe Isaac Paredes. Maybe Justin Turner as a free agent if they feel like black can play some 2B
  17. Anyone who thinks Wagner shouldn’t be in the HOF thinks that relievers have to be Mariano Rivera or not in the hall.
  18. I do think the Cubs sign Bellinger or Chapman. With the trade for Bush, if they get one of those 2 then the most obvious fit becomes the Brewers for Hoskins. I’d think he’d prefer to be on a good team with more playing time at 1B than DH and a hitters park to establish a higher value next offseason. The Brewers are really the only team than offers all 3 of those with a 1B opening. Sure he could go to Arizona, the Mets, Angels, or Washington. But I don’t think those teams would be ideal fits. plus with all the salary dumping the Brewers have done, they can easily afford to pay Hoskins.
  19. I’d be interested in Josh Bell if the Marlins kick in a bit.
  20. Yes Hoskins may sign with someone else, but the Brewwrs do have the $ if they want. Plus, it isn’t like after Hoskins there are no prions other than Santana. free agency: Justin Turner, Brandon Belt. trades: Isaac Paredes, Harold Ramirez, Ryan Mountcastle. No offense to Santana, who would be fine. That’s just another “meh” in a lineup full of “meh” already and pretty much to be consistently a threat
  21. I’m glad the Brewers haven’t signed Carlos Santana because I think if they were looking to settle for him, he’d be signed already. So hopefully they’re trying for a big bat and not yet another mediocre bat. Not that I’d be too upset if he ends up being the 1B as a fallback. in terms of the overall offense, they need 1 anchor bat and IMO a 2nd good bat because the middle of the lineup is weak right now. And one needs to be a lefty masher. Those spots are 1B for sure. But the 2nd bat could be some combo of DH/1B/2B/3B. I’d be pumped with a Rhys Hoskins signing and a Jorge Polanco trade. Turang is a black hole offensively yet and Polanco can play 3B/DH also. or just sign 2 olds to 1 year deals to mash and move on. Justin Turner/Brandon Belt. A surprise trade I’d look at is getting Isaac Paredes for a package starting with Quero. Rays have everything but catching, Contreras is under control for like 4 years, and it saves TB $
  22. Sean berry or marquis Grissom
  23. In the “just baseball” podcast, they played mock GM for the Giants and signed Jordan Montgomery and Giolito (and traded for Kyle Farmer), which is a still a pretty good offseason
