  1. The more I look at packages, and the more I look at our farm system, I really think we should be trying to get a real blue chip prospect in return, despite the fact that this lessens the quantity of the return. Outside of a struggling Arcia, we don't have one really even close to an elite prospect. Lucroy is our last, best trade chip.
  2. With the new Trea Turner rule I believe they cannot until after the World Series. Heck if we are going to take the "guys we should have drafted this year but didnt" approach, why not try a different sort of trade, but with the Marlins. The Brewers send Lucroy and Smith to Miami and in return get J.T. Realmuto, Luis Castillo and Braxton Garret. Marlins make a big upgrade at a premium position for the stretch run the Brewers get a catcher they can control for 4 more years and a lottery ticket and a really nice arm. Its not a big future move, but if Realmuto continues to improve as he has this year, they have a guy to flip when contention comes around again in 2020 or so. Dear god, no. Same to the Detroit proposal above
  3. Dont know if there is a more Stearns player alive than Victor Robles. Would love to sign him up.
  4. What?? No thanks. If we are giving up all of those guys to Boston, they better also be throwing in Moncado in the deal. I'd take this deal in a heartbeat. Benintendi is widely considered the best OF prospect in the game, Kopech is potential frontline starter, and Swihart is a fantastic addition to the team.
  5. I'd love to stay far, far away from Detroit, in more ways than one
  6. Along the daydreaming lines... What package do we need to pull together to snag Bregman from Houston
  7. Hahahah I love this. Benintendi and Moncada suggestions in the last few posts are why I love/hate the trade deadline. Love fantasizing about potential returns, but then build myself up to the point where I'm disappointed when we don't get bonafide untouchable players like the two above. That being said... Lucroy + Jeffress for Moncada + Kopech. Anything less and Stearns should be fired
  8. Couldnt agree more. Of anyone in their top 10 prospects, Clevinger is the one I want the least.
  9. I agree with those saying our haul for Lucroy should be helped by the Chapman trade. This is what I would ask for Lucroy and Smith: With Frazier/Zimmer on the table: Frazier + Mckenzie + Mejia (Lucroy for Frazier/McKenzie, Smith for Mejia) All of these players above could be top 50 prospects by seasons end, with Frazier already being top 25. Without Frazier/Zimmer on the table: Bradley + Mckenzie + Mejia + Hillman/Sheffield (Lucroy for Bradley/McKenzie/Mejia, Smith for Hillman or Sheffield) All top 100 recruits as of right now, with the potential for multiple top 50.
  10. The D'arnaud speculation was absolutely preposterous. 0% chance Stearns would trade for someone like that, let alone center a trade around someone like that. DS has stated he wants the young+controllable and has practiced what he preached. I trust him.
  11. Would much rather take option #2. If we can get Frazier + McKenzie I will be very, very happy. Frazier is still young, and a fantastic player already. McKenzie has true #1 potential. Make it happen!
  12. I always laugh hearing about Clevelands "untouchables". We have been told now that their top 4(!!!) prospects are untouchable, and now were adding another. You are trying to trade for an all star player, under control for a year and half, cheap as hell, in a spot where you have a black hole in your lineup. If you think you are getting that player without giving up at least 2 of those untouchables, you are simply wrong. If somehow Lucroy ends up in Cleveland within the next week, they will have given some of these "untouchables". Edit - No, that prospect package would not interest me. Post below me is definitely more fair.
  13. For me you would definitely need more. Especially when considering the leverage brought on with Cleveland and Texas' interest. One of Newcomb/Albies has to be in the package if Swanson is untouchable.
  14. Ok, Albies + Newcomb and we have a deal Seriously though, this looks like it could be turning into a bidding war and I can barely contain my excitement.
  15. I would prefer Aiken instead of Bradley as well. Also not sure about Hillman...from what I've read it doesnt fit the bill of the others as a "high-ceiling" player in that group.
  16. Neither of those two are throw-ins, under any circumstances. Yes I agree, what I meant is, if thats what it takes for the Indians to pull the trigger, I have no problem adding either of them
  17. It's been said here before but McKenzie is the prototypical Stearns guy. I bet he is salivating over him (as am I). Couple that with our need for top of the rotation pitching and I think Stearns pulls the trigger if they offer Aiken+McKenzie+Mejia. If we can get that return, throw in Smith/Jeffress I dont really care, just make it happen. Out of the blue we could have our future 1 and 2 along with their catcher.
  18. Not sure why everyone is talking about tip-toeing around teams top prospects. Lucroy is the best trade chip on the market. He gets teams best prospects or he doesn't go
  19. I really don't think the Indians give up any of their top four unless it turns to a bidding war. I would think something like Lucroy and Smith for Sheffield, McKenzie, Mejia, Hillman, Diaz would be more likely to get done. Indians may have to offer up even more even they want both and aren't willing to give up Frazier/Zimmer/Bradley/Aiken. I dont necessarily disagree with you but if thats the case and they really arent willing to move a top 4 player for one of the best catchers in the game and a very good bullpen arm, then you walk. Judging by what we've been hearing with Stearns I think that would likely be the case
  20. If I could take an ideal situation package (that has even the tiniest basis in reality) it would be Lucroy + Smith/Jeffress for Zimmer + Aiken + McKenzie 2 frontline potential starters and a high profile toolsy position player. Keeping in mind this package has 1 top 25 player and another top 100 player (91) the package could seem reasonable. All I know is I trust Stearns to hold out for the best possible offer. Fun times!
  21. I would be happy with any of the above. Would definitely prefer McKenzie over Bradley in the first package deal and first "alone" deal.
  22. And that makes perfect sense, Splitter, and I am happy to hear it. @Reilly It does feel good to know that there are multiple competing teams with major farm system talent are in need of a catcher doesnt it? . That being said, if Cleveland is reluctant to trade their top talent, they should be ignored immediately. Lucroy requires top level farm talent period.
  23. The guy. Get the best prospect you can regardless of position. Then add in others for lottery tickets as an afterthought. If we can get a top 15 prospect return, how could you turn that down? The package would have to include incredibly high ceiling players
  24. Okay in that case center the trade around Brinson and ask for one or two of Tate/Ortiz/Matuella next.
