  1. Santana for Salazar and Kipnis make any sense? Then prospects to the Rays for Odorizzi. I mean, Salazar or Clevinger would be a must in order to take on Kipnis. He's owed $28 Million over the next 2 seasons with a $2.5 Million buyout but his body seems to be failing him now so that deal could be a problem when we have to re-up arb guys. It fits the timeline though, if he works out. He'd be at 2B until Hiura is 100% ready and Dubon would come up in 2019 in the Sogard spot.
  2. Again, Cleveland isn't going to send Mejia out for Santana. Zero chance. If we do a deal with Cleveland, it's almost 100% going to revolve around Salazar or Clevinger. Clevinger fits the Stearns bill more than Santana due to the massive team control.
  3. I believe we're around $85 Million.
  4. I wasn't comparing Duffy to Salazar so that's a wasted exercise on your part. I was simply saying there's nothing wrong with Duffy's contract. Obviously, anyone with half a brain would prefer the similar production for cheaper.
  5. There's your problem, you're using BR. Archer has posted seasons of 5.2, 3.2 and 4.6 fWAR the last three years. FanGraphs blows BR out of the water. But, yes, let's go all or nothing on the injury prone dude who's thrown less than 140 innings in every season but one.
  6. Also, Lance Lynn is cooked. He benefited from a crazy low BABIP (.244) while posting career worsts in FIP and XFIP. He's not worth anything more than a 1 year/$10 Million type offer and, even then, I'd rather take different avenues.
  7. $14 Million for a 3+ win pitcher is not "way too much money." In fact, it's below market value. We're not going to find a better SP for cheaper than Duffy. I'll almost guarantee you that. My point is we trade our asset for a contracted 15 mil per pitcher when we can sign the pitcher for that much or a bit more AND trade Santana (+ maybe) for another pitcher like a Salazar or an Archer type. It's counterproductive in my eyes. Lynn / Cobb / Arrieta aren't enough different than Duffy is to me to warrant the trade. In a vaccum, no it's not a horrible deal. No, I get that. There's always ways to go about trying to get surplus value but, in the grand scheme of things, let's say Salazar and Archer AREN'T available. We're not going to sit on Domingo with the opportunity to land Duffy. Not at his cost per production.
  8. 1) We're not getting Mejia for Domingo. That speculation can stop now. 2) A Duffy, Santana swap would be straight up. Royals are going into a rebuild so they'd rather save money and get the cost controlled bat to replace Cain (I know he doesn't play CF but that's not the point). 3) I'm fine with a Salazar for Domingo swap. I really am. I'd just prefer to go after the workhorse who consistently throws 200 IP and provides insane production compared to cost over the volatile arm regardless of what it costs.
  9. Eh, I'd rather have Archer than Domingo and prospects. You're not going to find near 5 win pitchers for $6 Million a year very often. Same principle in going after Yelich. The contract is the biggest key.
  10. That's a Lance Lynn contract (except more in the 2/30 range) and he's not better than Duffy.
  11. $14 Million for a 3+ win pitcher is not "way too much money." In fact, it's below market value. We're not going to find a better SP for cheaper than Duffy. I'll almost guarantee you that.
  12. Also, we almost have to do a 1-for-1 40 man swap (so lower level prospects if prospects are included) unless we plan on cutting someone from the current 40 man (we're maxed atm).
  13. Absolutely nothing. Contract peaks at $15.5 Million in his final year and, in 2017, he was a >3 win pitcher in less than 150 innings. Fangraphs had him at a $27 Million value in 2017 fwiw. If we got Duffy and Merrifield for Santana, we'd win in a major way. That's 6.5 fWAR of production out of positions we need. I see very little shot that happens.
  14. Not sure, but probably because of the slanted way you phrased that. Not slanted in the slightest. It's the truth. Lots of swing and miss in all three bats.
  15. Absolutely beautiful deal. 3 high risk bats and a high risk arm for a cheap, cost controlled all star. How anyone can be mad at that is beyond me.
  16. As if 10 WAR is no big deal... I'd be more than willing to wager that those prospects combined won't hit 10 WAR in a season. Diaz has no long term place here with Hiura and Dubon (he's legit regardless of what you think). Brinson is always going to be a health concern and hasn't shown he can hit MLB pitching yet. Burnes is solid but he's not ace material and he's more than likely a #3. Ortiz is a 4 who eats innings. There's nothing overwhelming about that deal that says, "no, we can't do that." You're putting far too much weight into "what ifs" than actual MLB production. Cost controlled production at that...
  17. Yes Let me rephrase this so it doesn't get deleted... Why exactly do you say no to that offer?
  18. It says "+'22 option" in the detail part of the spreadsheet but doesn't have anything marked in the '22 column. It's there, just not accurately reflected in the columns. From what I can tell, he's got a 2022 team option for $15 Million with a $1.2 Million buyout.
  19. That's a really bad comparison for Burnes. Superior tools to Davies.
  20. However, I think Brinson and Robles are close enough that we can outpace the Nats with the rest of the package. Our system is deeper. I think Robles is the clear superior prospect but do agree we could put together a far better package.
  21. The it's gonna sting just screams Brinson and Burnes to me. Would depend on a multitude of things as if to whether I'd like it or not. Would be the rest of the pieces we send out, the pieces we get back with Yelich (if at all), and what we flip Showmingo for. If the product coming in is better than the product going out, I'll be more than okay. If it's marginal, I'll be okay. If we send too much for Yelich but don't get enough for Domingo...man.
  22. I'm tellin ya..Brinson, Burnes, I. Diaz, Peralta and Pennington..or something pretty close. Would have to think that package also brings Castro over to fill 2B.
  23. Two words, hoss... Mike. Trout. His first 40 games in the bigs he hit .220 and had a .281 OBP over 135 plate appearances. The best player we may have ever seen didn't even come up and start raking right away. C'mon, man.
  24. Brewers trade Keon Broxton to Toronto for JA Happ
