  1. Wahoo...afternoon game at work. Go Crew! get the sweep...
  2. Same old Ned... Kind of like a comfy blanket... you know what you're going to get: Bad bullpen managing. Gimmick offensive plays at the worst times in the game Unsubstantiated veteran love Did I mention...Bad bullpen managing? It has become so commonplace that I can hardly vent anymore. *Sigh*
  3. Wow dude...nothing like being completely wrong. I'm in the "community of amateur baseball" as you put it and most people I know recognize that PG is the top at what they do. When the scouting directors of most MLB clubs as well as college coaches of all major D1 schools use your information and praise your efforts, you must be doing something right. Perfect Game is doing something right. Baseball America is made up of writers that like baseball and generally have zero scouting experience. Perfect Game is made up of former (and current) pro and college scouts, players, and coaches. Which one is more credible again? A lot of scouts and college coaches that I know won't even involve the HS or Legion coach in the recruiting process anymore. They have come to recognize most of these guys for what they are...ego stroking wannabes who end up hurting the kid more than helping them so they can break their own arm patting themselves on the back at how much they did for "player X". Not all coaches are like this but a number of them seem to think they know more than anyone on Earth when it comes to what's best for kids. They're usually 99% wrong and do a disservice to their players. The good coaches get it...the bad ones rip organizations like Perfect Game because it questions their shaky credibility as an "authority".
  4. Craig Counsell is our everyday third baseman and Corey Hart is not an everyday OFer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Ned said Florida has a huge home field advantage...maybe he thought Corey couldn't handle playing in front of such a big crowd. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  5. Tony was a former player of ours for 4 years. Great kid, competitor and overall person. Not to mention his 90+ stuff and +hammer. He's got a bright future...hard to believe he's only a 19 YO at A ball already. To bad the Brewers passed on him.
  6. Second. Dude...those are sweet. I'll be at the game giving the Scrubs fans heck. Go Brewers!
  7. The Cards best hitter is Pujols...ours is arguably Prince. I guess I don't see the difference. You're giving up an out (at the plate no less) in front of your best hitter comming to the plate. It's a low % play no matter who is hitting/ running. Why do it when the heart of your order is comming up? I can see doing it with the 6-7-8 guys or even the pitcher. If you wanted to score that run that bad a squeeze is a better play with JJ up. You could even run a safety squeeze.
  8. Really? You think LaRussa would call it with Pujols on deck? It was another bad call in a close game and potentially cost us a run.
  9. That's a called play that comes from the dugout. It's called a "contact play" as in the runner takes off on contact no matter where the ball is hit (as long as it's on the ground) You don't see it run much in MLB because the fielders are so advanced that it is a very low % play unless the ball gets through. But then again Ned likes to use plays that work in HS and little league. That's twice in 2 days. And I'll remind you that Prince was on deck at the time.
  10. Man! That ball was smoked...a little left or right and that's in the gap for Weeks
  11. Hooray for gritty guys... .397 career with bases loaded. Good call by Ned.
  12. anyone but Counsell here...anyone.
  13. battling back...Please don't let Counsell hit with the bases loaded....
  14. Especially with Prince on deck. The time to be aggressive is with the bottom of the order...not the top. *sigh*
  15. In some cases yes...in some no. In Jack Z's case the answer would be yes. Some clubs break their scouting responsibilities down into pro and amateur scouting. The Brewers (like most clubs) have their area scouts cover the minor league pro teams in their geographic area. These scouting reports are the basis for guys acquired in trades and waiver claims. So in the Brewers case...yes Jack Z deserves the credit for his scouts recognizing available minor league talent to trade for.
  16. Yeah...my first DT post! Opening day is great. The only reon I can srill type is because my girlfriend cut me off at 8 pm (after 10+ hours of drinking) Yeah Beeer!
  17. Outstanding! I'll buy you a beer (or three) if I ever meet you in person. Thanks again!
  18. I'd love the Weeks signed Beckett. I in-boxed you.
  19. Should be working fellas...I have had it enabled all along.
  20. SB, I posted this in the 4.00+ ERa thread but think it should apply here. I don?t think we need to force new posters into a certain way of thinking. We don?t want all posters to be similar thinking robots that only espouse WHIP, VROP, etc. That wouldn't lead to much discussion would it? It doesn?t take a working knowledge of stats to post here?heck it doesn?t even take agreeing with the statistical leaning of many of the stat-heads here. All it takes is basic decency, the ability to type and the ability to use somewhat acceptable grammar and language. I am skeptical of many of the stats you guys throw around and their predictive power and I am able to be a contributing member that can have civil discussions (for the most part). We don?t all have to agree/ think the same way?we do have to treat each others? ideas with basic human respect.
  21. Casey, I wasn't trying to stir anything up...I sort of thought the venting thread was a little "free zone" so to speak. Never the less I edited the post.
