Well said. I haven't gone over the whole thread (in case it was noted earlier) but it needs to be mentioned that ballparks do play an impact on offensive production. I don't know exactly where GABP (Great American BallPark) is ranked but I doubt it is outside the top 5 offensive minded parks in baseball. Wherever it is ranked, I feel safe in assuming it is AHEAD of Miller Park in favoring the offense. Playing half of the games each year in a park like that (after having the career home park as Miller) would help in boosting numbers of any player. Scooter included. His 4 homer game was in GABP and at least 1 of those was barely over the wall.

Down the stretch the SF Giants rallied & got out of the basement for the 1st time since I started posting updates in early May. Cinci rallied to get out of the bottom 5 (where they had been all August). The Brewers rallied to go from 4 over to 16 over .500 & in the process getting ahead of the Cubs. The Yankees rolled all year at each full season level. I get a sense that they still have enough young talent at different spots we might be seeing another young core emerging (a la Bernie, Jeter, Posada, Pettite, Mariano of the early to mid 90s)...

If not, I doubt he would get thru. 2) Even if the Pirates are willing to punt the season at this point, why would deal away Juan Nicasio? Up till last year (2016) I would have agreed with you about injury being a deterrent to being picked. Then Dan D & Baltimore made its selections. During the draft they took Anthony Santander off Cleveland as he was known to be having shoulder surgery. Baltimore has stashed him all season on the 60 Day DL and I recently saw on mlb trade rumors that the Birds are about to activate him and start "the clock" for retaining him.

The other 3 coming back were a soon to be 27 year old who gives a crap reliever with a 4.57 FIP in the majors, a 24 year old outfielder with 11 extra base hits and .663 OPS in AAA this year and an infielder hitting .217/.309/.461 in AA this year. I would trade those three for Ortiz in a second and when you consider Brinson and Mejia are basically a wash as prospects, that makes the Rangers package far more valuable and I'm not even including Cordell in this. To defend Greg Allen (the outfielder), he is still in AA & has only played in 63 games as of this response. He missed 50+ games due to a broken hamate bone. As for Yu Chang (the infielder), he is 21 (turning 22 on Friday) and it puts him on the young side for the level. I copied & provided a link from Scouting baseball below (from the free content). They rank Cleveland as the 18th farm system and if those those 3 players (& the reliever Armstrong) were in the Milwaukee system, Cleveland would be bottom five in baseball. BTW - after all the moves plus made by the Cubs over the past 2 years, those Cubs are now viewed as the worst farm system in baseball. ..... The biggest bonus this (Cleveland) system has right now is the failed Jonathan Lucroy deal. If Lucroy had not vetoed the deal that would have sent him to Cleveland, Francisco Mejia, Yu-Cheng Chang, and Greg Allen would all be in Milwaukee right now, and the Indians would be a bottom five system. Yes, the Brewers missed out. Every week I hear a Tribe fan thanking the heavens that Lucroy decline te deal (although many were saying that this season as Lucroy struggled in Texas). Had Lucroy accepted the deal, 3 others (besides Mejia) were coming to Milwaukee. Also - it took Lucroy AND Jeffries to get that package from Texas (when good relievers were drawing premium prices). I will forever be curious on 2 things: 1) what Jeffries ALONE could have netted in a trade (with Texas or another team last season) 2) if the W. Smith deal with SF got altered to include Susac since Mejia had not been acquired.

Could well be. That part of the deal wasn't widely known, just that it came down to the Brewers making the playoffs or not. I can tell you fans were roasting Mark Shapiro in Cleveland for the rest of that season & beyond (until Brantley started to produce while the other 3 acquired by Cleveland in the deal fell by the wayside)...

I wonder if the PTBNL is tied to how the Brewers finish (like the CC deal in 2008). In that deal, if Brewers made the playoffs, the PTBNL would be Michael Brantley. If the Brewers missed the playoffs, the story is the PTBNL would have be Gamel (if my memory serves)...

Stats a player has at a specific park are pretty pointless and have little meaning. I really doubt Stearns or any GM is making decisions based off of them. I guess we will agree to disagree. I believe DS will use any and all means to make a solid decision (including these numbers). Like the spaghetti sauce "it's in there". However, I did not say DS made his decisions based on those numbers. Please note what I put in bold. DS will at least look at that info. I highly doubt his predecessor ever looked at that type of data.

My only surprise with this is that (it appears currently) the Brewers are not getting another major league club to go with them on this.. The Brewers would be able to cut back on some of its costs (say to $55MM instead of $70MM with both clubs committing $40MM each to the stadium and another $15MM to the complex creation). They could have a nicer place for less money spent.. The Gilbert area should see an increase in its return (not double but still more than just having 1 team)..

double header today with Gm 1 starting at 5 pm Eastern time. Triston maintains his mastery of the Mudcats. Although he only went 5 innings and allowed 5 hits & 2 walks, he also struck out 8 while only allowing 1 earned run. 91 pitches and 54 strikes thrown. Its 7-1 going into bottom of 7th (final At bats for Mudcats due to 2 games tonight)... FYI: Cody Ponce got his 1st crack against Lynchburg today. 5 IP allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits, 2 walks, 2 homers allowed (which plated 3 runs). He only struck out 2. 84 pitches and 49 strikes thrown. Edit: 1 item of note - it appears the Mudcats turned a triple play against Lynchburg in game 1. Don't know details on inning or how it happened, but it was listed in the box score. Nice job Mudcats.

Understood. I honestly don't know off the top of my head which clubs have paired up like Cleveland/ Cincinnati. I do realize the Twins are currently in Florida but know nothing about their situation there. What I do know is this: there is at least 1 other team in baseball that is operating by itself at a facility (either in Arizona or Florida). It is on the Brewers to find someone to match up with...

Kinda of surprised that the year round development aspect (extended Spring Training, the short season AZL and Fall ball) is not played up more. One more thing, Cleveland & Cincinnati jointly combined for the complex in Goodyear AZ. Surprised that the Brewers don't try to craft something with another club (drawing in the Twins or even the White Sox)...
