  1. What's worse, the guy that was covetted (Mejia) and the other means to get him (Smith/ RP) is also closed since Tribe dealt to get Miller in the interim..
  2. I bet Cleveland is willing to decline the option if they didn't have to give up 4 players to the Crew. Amount of control impacts how much team is willing to spend in assets going back.. Does DS accept even less to finalize deal and make sure he gets Mejia for the future???
  3. How about this.... Because DS focused on Mejia in package for Lucroy, he lost out on the opportunity to get Mejia for Will Smith. Now Cleveland has paid the high price for Miller. Need for them to consider getting Smith is all but gone. Lucroy refusal to accept trade is his right. But he just screwed the Brewers in the long run..
  4. So a catcher prospect who has a chance to be very good is significantly worse than a Comp Pick? And two/ three other pieces with Mejia. People that think 1 comp pick (that might not even be possible with the next CBA after 2017) is better then that entire package should not bred. That level of stupidity needs to be removed from the gene pool ASAP.
  5. Sounds like Brandon Phillips all over again except he had 10-5 veto power and now Cinci is stuck with Brandon after 2 items were shot down by Phillips. If Lucroy not moved then the rebuild wil take longer...
  6. Wrote it in another thread but I feel DS overplayed his hand with Smith. Yes we are now seeing it's a reliever market but Cleveland clearly overpaid for Miller. If DS had been willing to get Sheffield and the other young relievers (Heller and JP), I'm confident Cleveland would have seen that as a better deal than also sending top prospect Clint Frazier with those 3 to the Yankees.
  7. Heller and JP were 2 names I put on list as good possible PTBNL not in Tribe top 30 list over in the Lucroy trade thread last night... They are both worthy talents, just not MLB ready at the moment...
  8. Tribe overpaid big time for Miller by sending these 4 prosepcts (I'm a fan of Heller and JP) to the Yankees. As a Tribe fan I would have preferred a 1 for 1 Sheffield for Smith. Only way Tribe pays that price to Cashman is if the cost for Smith was thru the roof. Goes back to the adage, if your going to overpay, overpay for the very best. Hence Miller to Tribe & not Smith...
  9. IMHO... IF it's Sheffield (or Aiken or McKenzie or any other Tribe pitching prospect in its top 30, DS did very well for the Crew and the Tribe overpaid for Lucroy alone. IF there is no 4th prospect, then the Tribe made out very good in this trade. To be an even trade, there should be a 4th prospect, a PTBNL that is outside the Tribe top 30. They have a number of good arms for DS to pick from and make contingent on how far the Tribe advances in the postseason...
  10. Must really dislike the journeymen in AAA if the Crew is looking to add Norris.
  11. To be the PTBNL, the player has to be eligible for trade on date of original trade. MLB changed trade rules after craziness of SD/ Washington a year or so ago.. That would be why it hasn't been discussed... Even if the name of the player is not determined right now, today is the date the PTBNL has to be eligible for trade. So forget any player part of the 2016 draft.. Or a player on the 40 man roster. People in those groups are ineligible by league rules.
  12. To be the PTBNL, the player has to be eligible for trade on date of original trade. MLB changed trade rules after craziness of SD/ Washington a year or so ago..
  13. If there is a 4th player in the deal and its a pitcher that is not a top 30 prospect from the Tribe list, here are some names to watch consider: Julian Merryweather (RHSP) Luis Lugo (LHSP) Thomas Pannone (LHSP) Justin Garza (RHSP) Matt Esparza (RHSP) Dylan Baker (RHRP) Jeff Johnson (RHRP) Ben Heller (RHRP) JP Feyereisen (RHRP) Billy Strode (LHRP)
  14. Mejia should go to Bevard County. He started the season at Low A Lake County (Midwest league like Timber Rattlers). Only been in High A for a month or so. BTW, Nottingham had less than a full season at High A before Brewers rushed him to Biloxi this season. Better to let Mejia finish out the season in High A and possibly starting next season there before repeating a similar move (possible mistake).
  15. Mejia was on the mid season top 100 listing for Baseball America. #70.
  16. Allen is a true leadoff hitter and just got to AA Akron a few weeks ago. I liked him as someone that could come up quick to augment the outfield/ lineup in Cleveland as soon as 2018, especially if Zimmer/ Frazier fall on their face. I think Brewer fans will like him. Yu-Cheng Chang was a bit of a surprise to open at Lynchburg (only hit .232 last season, especially after getting hit in the head by a pitch in Beloit after going yard), but he has played well there year. While some consider him the top SS in the Tribe system, many wondered if he would need to move to another spot due to size concerns (& Lindor in the majors). With the other middle infield depth for the Brewers, I assume he would move to another position here too. Enough has been said/written about Mejia. No need to rehash here. At this point, I'm surprised there is no pitching going to Milwaukee. If there is a 4th player going to Milwaukee, I have to assume it's a pitcher.
  17. So is there a 4th? I'm surprised no pitching prospect so far..
  18. To "And that": Your welcome. Always appreciated the tip of the cap. To everyone: Anyone got eyes on Will Smith? Is he in the bullpen or the dugout?? Still believe the Tribe has a huge interest in adding Smith to their bullpen.. EDIT: Nevermind on Smith. He was just shown warming up. Kinda tough watching Tribe game/ Crew game and all Tribe minor league games currently in play
  19. Did Brock Lesner arrive?? And if he did and is delivering that many F5s, just who ticked him off????
  20. Update time. As of end of 7/29/2016 Remember - these standings ONLY considers the FULL SEASON clubs in the minors (Low A thru AAA). Only the top 12 places have combined records of .500 or better. # Franchise W L Pct 1 New York Yankees 252 166 0.6029 2 Seattle Mariners 248 170 0.5933 3 Philadelphia Phillies 246 174 0.5857 4 Cleveland Indians 234 187 0.5558 5 Houston Astros 227 190 0.5444 6 Washington Nationals 226 191 0.5420 23 Colorado Rockies 196 221 0.4700 24 Baltimore Orioles 195 222 0.4676 25 Detroit Tigers 189 222 0.4599 26 Milwaukee Brewers 186 226 0.4515 27 Atlanta Braves 187 229 0.4495 29 Chicago White Sox 176 245 0.4181 30 Kansas City Royals 171 245 0.4111 The division rivals: 10 Pittsburgh Pirates 218 200 0.5215 16 St. Louis Cardinals 204 212 0.4904 17 Chicago Cubs 204 214 0.4880 21 Cincinnati Reds 199 215 0.4807
  21. Small market. Only had half a year left of control from what I heard. They have other good relievers and may not feel an all out pursuit of a wild card is worth it Getting Felipe Rivero is a huge get for the Pirates for this year and the next few years. This is not a White Flag type of trade for the Pirates...
  22. Actually I think its now 42 games... I hope he continues to 43 & beyond...
  23. I just wish he was a little farther along. If so, Tribe would call him up and not worry about Lucroy or any other Catcher on the market... Call it a hunch but I think Cleveland is working a deal with Tampa Bay and Mejia will be part of it. Fyi - fans finally showing up at Tribe games. 50k for the2 games vs Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Over 33k at game tonight. After renovations, the field only holds 35k now (down from 42k when it opened) cc
  24. If the Indians get jilted out of Lucroy, I doubt they would be to hip on another deal with the Brewers. I hope this ploy of multiple teams involved for Luc does in fact make the Indians pony up. A deal not getting done can be for many reasons. Tribe might not meet the Brewer price, or Lucroy might have a contract demand to wave the "no trade" & the Tribe doesn't want to agree to. Who knows at this point. I've personally believed the Tribe should pursue Smith for last 8 weeks. Just curious if as the deadline approaches agreeing to a different structure might be of benefit to all. BTW- Mejia with a single to CF in the 7th tonight extends his hitting streak to 41 games..
  25. Assuming Lucroy goes to somewhere other than Cleveland and Cleveland still has Francisco Mejia after addressing its need, would a package of Mejia and a lower prospect (arm like Luis Lugo/ Pannone or Merryweather) interest the Brewers for Smith???
