  1. People keep referencing Tomlin and Kluber on short rest. Can't understand why they don't look at number of pitches thrown by either guy this month. Yes, both guys going on one less day of rest but the pitch counts were real low (GM 1 for Kluber at 88 was the most, Tomlin didn't crack 60 pitches in his outing game 3). I would think its a wash. Game 6 should be very good. If there is game 7 Kluber is ready. Hendricks was knocked around by the Tribe. #RollTribe
  2. Bigger question: do Brewers fill all 40 man roster spots or leave a spot open to take a player?? In order to draft, you have to have a spot open at the time rosters are submitted.
  3. Personally I'm very happy the Indians still have those prospects..... I know we will never find out for sure, but I am curious which players were altered in the other Brewer deadline trades (ie players from Giants for Smith, what items were on the table for Jeffries ALONE) since the Lucroy deal to Cleveland fell thru...
  4. At least he pitched in both organizations in the World Series, unlike others getting these opportunities... Archer started with Cleveland. While still in the lower minors he was dealt to the Cubs (Mark DeRosa deal) and then was dealt to Tampa Bay
  5. Go Cleveland. It's even more imperative they win now that the Cubs are the opponents. I still hope a Ricky Vaughn appearance happens. "The American Express Card... don't steal home (on Lester) without it"
  6. With the Cubs being in the same division, it means 19 regular season games. You should worry/ plan on a way of dealing with them. Otherwise very poor head to head results might prevent the Brewers from being in a race. See 2016 Tribe vs Tigers. It can be argued the lopsidedness of that outcome won the Tribe the AL Central and seriously impaired the Tigers chances at the Wild Card. I believe Tribe went 14-4 vs Tigers.
  7. If you want to see Erceg stay at SS for a little while longer, leave him in High A to start the season. Reward him with move to High A Carolina if (when) his play warrants it. No need to rush or be over aggressive with him.
  8. Someone needs to show up to Wrigley Field with a goat (or 3). Try proving they are NOT descendants of the infamous one from years ago.. Wonder if they are refused entry this time???
  9. Tribe rolling into the World Series. Great job by catcher Roberto Perez throughout this postseason behind the plate (& a few moments with the bat). Enjoyed the respect Ripken & Darling were giving him on the TV feed. Sometimes the best trades are those not made.. Any former Brewers still left in this post-season??? This marks the 4th time in last 5 seasons team from AL Central makes the World Series. Detroit in 2012, KC in 2014 & 2015, now Cleveland in 2016...
  10. This one is debatable. Arcia might get there but I wouldn't bet the rent on it. I see Arcia being a very solid shortstop with a long productive career. I suspect too many people look at Arcia's last prospect ranking & assume he is a top player at position and across baseball. They forget, he moved up to that ranking after a number of others (Russell included) graduated into the majors.
  11. Kluber in game #4. If series continues, it is most likely Rookie Ryan Merritt (LHP) in game #5 then Josh Tomlin in game #6. Kluber again in game #7 as all hands on deck if needed. 3 guys, all who started games throughout the season in AAA and a few spot starts in the majors are still in the bullpen: Mike Clevinger (RHP), Cody Anderson (RHP) and Ryan Merritt.. Bauer MIGHT be available for an inning or so w/ game 7 if necessary. He has more recovery time from being pulled from this game to start of game 7 then he did from sustaining the injury (on Friday morning) to making start tonight.
  12. DH is not going away. It's now engrained in the game. I realize there are fans of pitchers having to hit but that is a smaller segment than those that like having the DH. For every pitcher we note is a good hitter, there is player that is a primary DH whose career is extended so people can enjoy him (Molitor, Frank Thomas, David Ortiz, Edgar Martinez, Victor Martinez, etc)
  13. Hmmm, only two umpires? Mike Hegan's dad catching? Yep, Jim Hegan was a very good backstop in his own right. Mike (may he RIP) grew up in Cleveland and went to St. Ignatius HS on the near west side of town. That school has produced a handful of professional athletes playing now- Derek Dietrich (Marlins), Brian Hoyer (QB Bears), and Jake Ryan (LB Packers). Dave Ragone (coach on Bears staff) is another grad of the school as is Larry Dolan (owner Cleveland Indians).
  14. Other big free agent signings for the Cubs: Ben Zobriest & Jason Heyward. Having these guys allowed a good manager in Maddon to mix match and adjust as needed. It also allowed further development time for some players as needed and provided great depth.
  15. Keep Chase Anderson of those 2 pitchers. Think you can do better than Danny V alone & I'm concerned about the clubhouse (didn't he have a fight with Billy Butler during this past summer??). However, if the BEST Stearns can get for Garza and Scooter is Danny V and he wants to bring Danny into Brewer clubhouse, then I would support him. DS has earned some rope to utilize at this point.
  16. At least Brewer fans have the option of bringing in food. Outside food & beverage (all types) was banned from the park in Cleveland years ago. On top of that all bags/ backpacks/ purses are subject to screening search upon entry (and yes, all items are opened and looked into). I personally believe this has had an unintended impact on attendance, fewer families and people going knowing they have to buy anything they want at the park. On the positive side, the park has taken steps to have a food variety for people tastes and needs. Even had a couple subway stands inside the concourse. Renovation over past 2 years has expanded the possible food options. Additionally, the club does at least 6 (perhaps its now 12) dollar dog nights, some tied to firework shows to help defray the costs and create family outing atmosphere.
  17. I believe the bigger impact here is the lost playing /development time this fall and likely this winter. After rehab, would you feel comfortable sending him to winter ball?? I would not. Yes, better now then later but I think this will torpedo any chance of Corey starting 2017 in AA. Considering his results last year, I would think a return to High A was in order and this seals it..
  18. Quick Question: Other than Marco Estrada, are there any other alumni from the 2014 Brewers still playing in the 2016 post season?? Once 'Brewers South' aka Texas got eliminated, the number remaining dropped significantly....
  19. Might be a worthwhile target IF it's a matter of trading a Rule 5 eligible player the Crew cannot otherwise find room for on its 40 man before the December draft..
  20. ICYMI- Word coming out the MiLB.com website tonight that Corey Ray was injured during Instructs and had surgery to repair torn meniscus in left knee.. Just the messenger folks....
  21. As long as it took. Was a little surprised Allen came in during the 8th. Otero has been very good all season coming in with people on base. Going into the 8th I figured Shaw & Otero would handle the 8th and Allen would handle the 9th (and be hedge for a game 4 if necessary)..
  22. keeping/ non-tendering Carter might well part of a larger picture that none of us are currently aware.
  23. Might I interest you in Giovanny Urshela??
  24. Thanks for noting that. Would still try to deal Garza east. The Yankees farm system is MUCH DEEPER than the Angels system..
  25. I like your thoughts, finding a place to send Scooter. But before trying to send Garza west, I think we should shop him east, First, I have a hunch that CC Sabathia will be signed by the Angels. That will deepen the rotation needs for the Yankees. I would propose Garza and rebound candidate Jorge Lopez to the Yankees for 2 of the Tribe prospects they got for Miller: Sheffield and JP Feyerieisen (from UW Stevens Point). The Yankees might decline thinking they are not getting enough (if so, I would explore what more is needed) but if they accept, it deepens the pitching pool for 2018 & beyond and it opens 2 more 40 man spots for DS to use. Sheffield should start 2017 in AA and while JP likely starts off in AAA he spent a chunk of time in AAA already so he might be able to crack the bullpen out of spring training (or shortly thereafter)
