  1. Just hope the Crew stayed WITHIN 5% of going over their bonus pool amount. At 5% they would lose their 1st round pick for 2017 as well as being taxed...
  2. Braun was also left off the latest Bleacher Report roster predictions. BR only had Lucroy making the team from the Brewers..
  3. Update time. As of end of 7/1/2016 Remember - these standings ONLY considers the FULL SEASON clubs in the minors (Low A thru AAA). Interesting that a 12 & 13 week moves up the Crew affiliates up a spot in the overall standings. 1 New York Yankees 195 123 0.6132 2 Seattle Mariners 184 132 0.5823 3 Philadelphia Phillies 182 136 0.5723 4 Cleveland Indians 182 139 0.5670 5 Texas Rangers 173 143 0.5475 21 Cincinnati Reds 148 166 0.4713 22 San Diego Padres 149 168 0.4700 23 Milwaukee Brewers 145 165 0.4677 24 Detroit Tigers 147 168 0.4667 25 San Francisco Giants 148 171 0.4639 28 Los Angeles Angels 136 178 0.4331 29 Chicago White Sox 131 187 0.4119 30 Kansas City Royals 123 190 0.3930
  4. Delly will give his all AT ALL TIMES. Sadly when he goes full bore and others are not, his scrappy demeanor is looked upon as dirty. I believe he can play in the league and be productive as a role player, coming off a bench to provide a spark or harass a player on the opposition that is on fire. I think the Bucks overpaid big time. I wish Delly well moving forward but I suspect that many fans will scream for his head/ release after 1 year when he fails to average double digit points or assists...
  5. Winning is winning, regardless of level. It helps to draw in the casual fan which means more merchandise and concession sales. Those are the things needed to keep clubs going.. I would not be surprised if the need to generate excitement at Brevard County impacted the thinking of where to place Ray to start his minor league career. Just hope it doesn't backfire on the Crew.
  6. Update time. As of end of 6/24/2016 Remember - these standings ONLY considers the FULL SEASON clubs in the minors (Low A thru AAA). 1 New York Yankees 173 117 0.5966 2 Seattle Mariners 168 122 0.5793 3 Philadelphia Phillies 166 124 0.5724 4 Cleveland Indians 167 125 0.5719 5 Texas Rangers 161 130 0.5533 6 Pittsburgh Pirates 155 131 0.5420 7 Minnesota Twins 155 134 0.5363 8 Washington Nationals 153 133 0.5350 9 Los Angeles Dodgers 154 136 0.5310 10 Arizona Diamondbacks 153 137 0.5276 21 Cincinnati Reds 137 152 0.4740 22 Baltimore Orioles 137 153 0.4724 23 San Diego Padres 137 155 0.4692 24 Milwaukee Brewers 133 152 0.4667 25 San Francisco Giants 134 158 0.4589 26 Colorado Rockies 132 156 0.4583 27 Atlanta Braves 127 162 0.4394 28 Los Angeles Angels 124 166 0.4276 29 Chicago White Sox 121 171 0.4144 30 Kansas City Royals 116 173 0.4014
  7. It's for this reason I would not be upset if the Brewers were unable to sign Ray. It would give the Crew the 5th pick in the 2017 draft. While the Brewers would probably take a senior to ensure a signing, it would give the Crew a huge bonus pool for 2017.
  8. If the Brewers could sign Ray for slot or less, then do it. Otherwise I would take the draft pick next year at #5. It would allow for a huge bonus pool next year....
  9. While Lucroy would be an improvement over Gomes/Perez/Giminez offensively, it's a toss up between Lucroy and Gomes defensively. Some measurables have Lucroy ahead, others have Gomes ahead. If the Indians had a guy like Hank Conger as their catcher, then I could see the Tribe paying the prosepcts to go after Lucroy.
  10. I highly doubt Hill would interest the Indians, even as a throw-in. Granted Uribe is not a long term answer at 3rd, Jose Ramirez is proving he can hit MLB pitching while moving all around the diamond. Most games end with Jose at 3rd to give better late game defense. Tribe has 2 prospects at the AAA level in Giovanny Urshela (great glove, limited stick) & Yandy Diaz (has more walks in his career then strikeouts). Urshela came up last season about a week before Lindor. The 2 of them made a great improvement to the overall defense and the pitching was able to turn a corner knowing they didn't have to strike everyone out to be successful. As minor trade targets, Yandy Diaz and Giovanny Urshela should be guys Stearns keeps an eye on and nabs one if the price is right...
  11. Shields started the game tonight walking Carlos Santana on 4 pitches. Was down 4-0 before the 5th batter got into the box (BB-double-single-3 run homer)... He gave up 8 today (last 2 allowed in by bullpen) and was out of the game before end of the 2nd inning...
  12. With Altuve at 2b and Correa as SS, can't envision any Astro interest in Scooter. Hill (at 3b) might be of interest as Valbuena has struggled this year. Considering the Astros cut loose Carter, highly doubt they will trade to get him back.
  13. Update time. Remember - these standings ONLY considers the FULL SEASON clubs in the minors (Low A thru AAA). 1 New York Yankees 161 108 0.5985 2 Cleveland Indians 159 113 0.5846 3 Texas Rangers 153 114 0.5730 4 Seattle Mariners 155 116 0.5720 5 Philadelphia Phillies 151 116 0.5655 25 San Francisco Giants 127 144 0.4686 26 Milwaukee Brewers 122 141 0.4639 27 Atlanta Braves 118 151 0.4387 29 Chicago White Sox 115 158 0.4212 30 Kansas City Royals 106 160 0.3985
  14. In a debate of trading at deadline or during offseason, I would suggest moving Garza as fast as possible. I suspect that his poor pitching in 2015 is more likely the norm moving forward instead of being an aberration. Should he pitch well enough to drum up some (ANY) trade interest, don't wait, jump on it while it is there.
  15. If (& I know big IF) Garza can pitch decent for his next 5 or 6 starts there is A CHANCE someone would be desperate enough to deal for him at the deadline, seeing him as an upgrade over the bottom of their rotation (perhaps the chiSox) In that case I can only hope Stearns accepts the deal... A couple low minor league lottery tickets (a la the Lind deal) would be good. Sending down 'free Wily' makes plenty of sense in that regard...
  16. after 6/10/16. 1 Cleveland Indians 148 96 0.6066 2 New York Yankees 145 96 0.6017 3 Texas Rangers 139 99 0.5840 4 Seattle Mariners 139 103 0.5744 24 Milwaukee Brewers 110 126 0.4661 28 Chicago White Sox 105 140 0.4286 29 Los Angeles Angels 103 138 0.4274 30 Kansas City Royals 97 140 0.4093 If the affiliate clubs could get themselves back to a combined .500 record, it would put them in the top half of baseball. Current #13 place (Houston) is the only .500 team at 119-119
  17. Thanks Homer. Great piece of info you listed here for any trade consideration..
  18. Lol haven't seen that movie in ages. Great reference! I guess I was rolling with my earlier posts. So did the Germans really bomb Pearl Harbor???
  19. I understand your thinking. Do not fault it at all. However, it took more than Laporta for a rental of CC. It also cost Zack Jackson, Rob Bryson and a conditional player to be named later in Michael Brantley...
  20. I don't know of a database that tracks it, but I would guess lost appeals are around 33%. Didn't JoeyBats appeal his item from the Cano fight and lose???
  21. Here is another idea for changing suspensions, appeals and impacts. If you appeal and lose the appeal, the suspension is extended by 50% (standard rounding rules apply, ie 3 games appealed and lost adds 1.5 games which becomes 2 games added and so forth).... It would mean players/ agents/ teams need to be more calculated on what to appeal and what to outright accept and move on from..
  22. Cleveland fan here.. No Deal. Personally I hang up when Bobby Bradley is asked for. He is the RH power bat the Tribe has been looking for for years. Lucroy has bounced back offensively & currently better at bat then the Tribe counterparts, but Gomes (& the currently injured Roberto Perez) are there for defense & controlling the running game. They are also cost controlled. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-positional-power-rankings-catcher/ Tribe should be talking about Will Smith but that's about it..
  23. Rather keep Villar than Scooter... Arica should be up later this year (@7/1/16 to avoid super 2 issues) and Villar provides a safety net in case Arcia struggles with his first exposure to the bigs...
  24. I think Briggs hacked your account. Not me. I never made that suggestion. I did say Hill was not over the hill and was useful this year. He's proven me right. Once teams like Mets and Royals see their internal options are lacking, Brewers could take calls from multiple teams increasing his trade value. I agree that Hill's value can go up but if any team offers a top 15 prospect for him (alone), Stearns should jump on the offer, not try to wait and see if he can get more.. Think of this as a repeat of Parra from last season. A repeat of that deal would be a very good get...
