  1. The pen has been OK lately and Counsel will manage who he has the best way he can. If and when they are needed, what current minor league pitchers are you most excited to see? I'm not considering Williams or Jeffress because we know what they have. 1. Zach Brown- He will be up after Memorial Day to make some starts in order to preserve Peralta, Woodruff and Burnes innings. That is exciting! 2. Miguel Sanchez- He has filthy stuff. Definitely a late inning, bullpen arm. He is going to be a good one! 3. Adrian Houser- After Jeffress, I think he will be the next man up as a loggy or getting an opportunity to start if the young three continue to struggle. I don't think a season like Brandon Woodruff in 2018 is unrealistic. 4. Nate Greip- He seems to be getting better and better. I am hoping he has a future in the pen. The Grim Greaper would be awesome at Miller Park. 5. Jay Jackson- He's been to The Show and may be hungry to get back. It looked like he had lively stuff. 6. Josh Fields- Definitely the most proven. Flyball pitchers at Miller Park always scare me. He may be the next in line. 7. Aaron Kurz- Does he pass up Wilkerson and Derby or any of the previously listed pitchers? He seems to be getting better. 8-9. Trey Supak/Marcos Diplan- Should be higher on the list but probably will have to make a stop at AAA. Intriguing young arms. 10. Bubba Derby- If he starts he may have more value but he seems like a pen piece. 11. Jon Olczak- The stats look decent. I am not sure what he has. I could be undervaluing him. 12. Aaron Wilkerson- He could also serve the purpose and give one of the young three a break on innings. He's a guy I'd love to root for. 13. Devin Williams- I heard the velocity is back. He was moving fast through the system until the injuries. I would expected a full year in the minors.
  2. Hopefully Woodruff can go six innings. If he can't they may need to make a roster move for a fresh arm after the game.
  3. Yes, two situational lefties and Hader closing. Anderson can figure out his mechanical issues in San Antonio.
  4. Jennings as a second lefty, Anderson to AAA, Hader closes.
  5. I screwed that up! The closer situation is worrisome. Does Petricka close?
  6. SP: Chacin, Peralta, Woodruff, Davies, Burnes RP: Albers, Barnes, Claudio, Guerra, Hader, Petricka, Williams, IF: Aguilar, Arcia, Moose, Perez, Saladino, Shaw, Thames, Spangenberg OF: Braun, Cain, Yelich, Gamel DL: Jeffress, Knebel Minors: Nelson, Anderson Who's the 25th man?
  7. It's looking like all three will make the rotation with Tomlin gone. I hope it works but: Burnes has never started at the big league level. Peralta struggles to throw strikes at times. Woodruff hasn't exactly been lights out as a starter. I hope it works out!
  8. Anderson is sketchy. Nelson will need to build innings in AAA (I'd keep him in Biloxi because of weather). Davies has not been good. Burnes, Peralta and Woodruff are unproven and need to be limited. Tomlin may be the #5 to start with to keep him around. James Shields needs to be a Brewer!
  9. The Brewers are a pitcher short and a guy that can go six innings is the answer. This would allow Nelson and Davies to rehab slowly and build arm strength. Peralta could go to AAA and stay fresh for a call up. Anderson and Woodruff are both question marks in the rotation (personally, I like Woodruff in the pen). How great would it be to have three arms in the minors that could me ready to go. James Shield: 1 year, 1 million with a games started and incentive laden contract. Rotation: Chacin, Anderson, Burnes, Shields, Woodruff
  10. If you made a team out of current free agents, not including Kuechel, Machado, Harper and Kimbrel, would they be the worst team in baseball? Old and slow...... Yes. Terrible...... no. We were bored ice fishing. SP: Gio Gonzalez, Clay Bucholz, Jeremy Hellickson, James Shields, Edwin Jackson RP: Xavier Cedeno (L), Tony Sipp (L), Nick Vincent, Sergio Romo (long relief), Jake Diekman, Tyler Clippard (SU), Bud Norris (CP) C: Martin Maldonado, Matt Writers 1B: Evan Gattis, Lucas Duda 2B: Josh Harrison 3B: Marwin Gonzalez SS: Jose Iglesias OF: Derek Dietrich, Adam Jones, Carlos Gonzalez, Denard Span UT: Yangervis Solarte, Adeiny Hechavarria Jones CF Harrison 2B Gonzalez LF Duda/Gattis DH Dietrich 1B Solarte 3B Gonzalez RF Maldonado/Weiters C Iglesias SS
  11. 1. Bucholz- Would crack the rotation. $4.5 million.plus incentives. 2. Liriano- #4 or bullpen, $4 million plus incentives 3. Sheilds- #5, $3 million plus incentives 4. Hellickson- #5, league minimum with incentives 5. Anderson- Minor league deal 6.Tillman- Minor league deal 7. Fister- Minor league deal 8. Bailey- Minor league deal
  12. Would one year, 3 million with a game started bonus get it done? $10,000 per start? If he starts 100 games he gets an extra million.
  13. This is scary good! RHP Cain CF Yelich RF Aguilar 1B Shaw 3B Grandal C Braun LF Spangenberg/Perez 2B Arcia SS Pitcher LHP Cain CF Yelich RF Braun LF Aguilar 1B Shaw 3B Grandal/Pina C Perez 2B Arcia SS Pitcher
  14. If the Brewers could get .250, 15 HR and 60 RBI out of Tulo, which is quite possible, their order would be stacked. What an upgrade at 2B. Tulo is definitely worth the $500,000 risk.
  15. Hader is a lefty but not a situational lefty (he pitchers to more than left handed hitters).
  16. Guerra is better than Houser. After Wilkerson, Houser would be the next pitcher removed from the roster.
  17. Thames would have to be involved to off set some of Profar's salary.
  18. SP: Chacin, Anderson, Davies, Peralta, Burnes This is below league average. I fully expected a free agent pitcher to be signed or a trade to be made. A lot depends on Peralta throwing strikes and Burnes being able to pitch a full season. Davies and Anderson are huge question marks. RP: Knebel, Woodruff, Jeffress, Hader, Williams, Guerra, Albers Woodruff will be setting up Knebel. No lefty in the pen? One will be signed but overall, I like it. Sign Herrera and let Woodruff start MAY solidifies the rotation a bit but it is still sketchy. C: Pina, Kratz I can live with this. Maybe Nottingham will surprise and win a spot? 1B: Aguilar, Thames 2B: ? SS: Arcia 3B: Shaw UT: Perez Who's at 2nd? Sign Davidson and keep Shaw at 2B? Talk about a potential line up! I'd love to see Profar in a Brewer jersey hitting 2nd. Thames needs to go. A Perez/Saladino platoon is not good. OF: Braun, Cain, Yelich, Santana, Broxton I can live with this. If Thames is gone Braun could get some time at 1B. Santana may have a break out year but could be Profar trade bait. Minors: Barnes, Houser, Nottingham, Diplan, Stokes, Supak, Wilkerson, Taylor, Saladino RHP Cain Yelich Aguilar Shaw Braun Pina Perez/ Saladino Arcia Pitcher
  19. 1. Chacin 2. Anderson 3. Miley or Gonzalez cheap 4. Burnes 5. Peralta Woodruff- To the pen, he has been outstanding Guerra- Swingman at best Nelson- Minor league rehab Davies- Does he have options? Brown- Late season call up?
  20. I am guessing; Cain CF Yelich RF Braun LF Shaw 2B Schoop SS Moustakas 3B Pina C Thames 1B Gonzelez P
  21. Who are the minor league players that can help The Crew when rosters expand. The pen looks a little trashed. Quinton Costa Torres- He and Jennings could serve as lefty specialists. Zach Davies- Should take Guerra's spot in the rotation. Brandon Woodruff- Piggy back with Davies? Christian Betancourt- Defensive replacement. Tyler Saladino- Defensive replacement/baserunner.
  22. Cain CF Braun LF Moustakas 3B Aguilar 1B Shaw 2B Pina C Thames RF Arcia SS Guerra P
  23. .500 will not get you the playoff after playing well above .500 in the first half.
  24. It pains me to say this but the following players need a look in September if the Brewers continue to play poorly. Quinton Costa-Torres- 2019 Bullpen arm? Surprised he hasn't gotten a shot already. Brandon Woodruff- Can't be worse than Peralta has been. The rotation has issues. Javier Betancourt- #2 behind Pina? Domingo Santana- A decision needs to be made although at bats may be hard to come by with Cain and Yelich. Jonathon Schoop- He is signed next season so you have to play him. Zack Brown- He is not young and doesn't need to be babied. He has been injured and may have inning limits.
