  1. Anderson Davies Gallardo Hader Woodruff 9th: Knebel 8th: Barnes or Drake (to face lefties) 7th: Houser or Williams RP: Suter, Wilkerson (to piggy back with Hader and Woodruff). In the famous words of the grounds crew in Major League, "These guys are s****y."
  2. If the Brewers acquired Machado he'd have to agree to an extension and Arcia would be going back to Baltimore with Hader and Santana, Phillips or Brinson plus. There is no way any of it is happening. Seriously, it would be a ridiculous haul that would deplete all the younger players that are near MLB ready. Machado would not give up an opportunity for free agency.
  3. 1. A set up man for Knebel.......... I am not sold on Barnes and everyone else is not proven. Is Stearns crossing his fingers that Houser or Williams turn out to be studs? 2. A left handed pen arm. Please do not use Drake because Hader is going to the rotation. 3. A starting pitcher. Anderson, Davies, Guerra, Woodruff, Hader, Suter........ Besides Davies and Anderson this is sketchy.
  4. Ortiz, Woodruff and Harrison for Duffy and Alexander. We get a SP and a LHP that allows Hader a chance for a starting spot. The Royals get a cheap starter, a future starter and a wild card.
  5. Two available relievers that may be fits for Milwaukee are Kelvin Herrera and Scott Alexander. I think our surplus of near ready OFer's and next year's Rule 5 eligibles would match up well; Brinson or Phillips may not have to be included.
  6. If Milwaukee chooses the Anderson, Davies, Guerra, Suter, Woodruff, Lopez, Jungman, Hader, Burnes and Wilkerson route as starting pitching options you have three proven MLB starters and a lot of unproven MLB pitchers. I listed Guerra as a proven starter but that is not a 100% for sure option after last season. I believe they need to sign at least one starting pitcher (even if it is for seven digits). Without Nelson the expectations for these options are much worse that the prospective 2017 rotation a year ago.
  7. " I think every single one of those options is terrible." The translated version of saying I dislike your thread even though I have never offered anything of substance.
  8. Don't know why I put Jason Cobb instead of Alex Cobb?
  9. Rank your free agent pitchers with the contract offered and reason. I'd forget about Arietta and Darvish, buy one starter and replenish the bullpen. 1.) Andrew Cashner (2 years, 20 million) Short term #4 starter that won't break the bank. A former relief pitching stud. 2.) Joulyns Chacin (2 years, 14 million) Would not be long term and is better than Woodruff or Suter. Wish we got him at the deadline this year. 3.) CC Sabathia (1 year, 10 million plus incentives and a player option for year two, same contract) Would eat innings and had previous dominance in Milwaukee. 4.) Jason Vargas (1 year, 10 million) Would anchor the four spot and is not long term. 5.) Myles Mikolas (2 years, 10 million) Lightening in a bottle? 6.) Tyler Chatwood (3 years, 24 million) Rolling the dice but he is a ground ball machine. I worry about arm issues. 7.) Chris Tillman (1 year, 10 million) Rolling the dice. He'll be better outside the American League. Health is a concern 8.) Lance Lynn (2 years, 30 million) Should be higher but he was a Cardinal. Was decent in the pen. 9.) Jason Cobb (4 years, 50 million) An over pay. Waiting for his arm to fall off. 10.) Jamie Garcia (2 years, 16 million) Left handed ground ball machine with a ton of wear and tear. I'd rather see Watson or McGee and Neshek or Reed than a big name starter. Second tier starters on short term contracts is my preference.
  10. They should put all the players in the Rule 5 draft. If they are not drafted, which none will be because of age, they become minor league free agents.
  11. All international free agents should have to enter the MLB draft and players should not be able to sign until they are 18 years old.
  12. LuCroy's framing peripherals look worse in Colorado. No doubt. I think if he could be had cheap it would be a wise investment. I'd still rather see him than Bandy or Vogt.
  13. Sign Neshek (2 years, 16 million) Sign LuCroy (2 years, 20 million) Sign Watson (2 years, 16 million) SP: Davies, Anderson, Guerra, Woodruff, Hader LRP: Suter, Jungman (to spell Woodruff and Hader- split starts?) RP: Barnes, Williams, LH: Watson SU: Neshek, CP: Knebel C: LuCroy (1B platoon, LuCroy gets LHP when Jesus doesn't have his swing), Pina 1B: Thames, Aguilar 2B: Villar 3B: Shaw SS: Arcia LF: Braun CF: Phillips (platoon with Broxton) RF: Santana Bench: Perez, Sogard, Broxton Phillips (RHP), Broxton (LHP) Villar, Sogard, Perez (who's hot) Santana Shaw Braun Thames, Aguilar Pina, LuCroy Arcia Pitcher The rotation is sketchy; this pen could be lights out. LuCroy is a stretch but maybe he could rejuvenate his career in familiar surroundings. The Woodruff, Hader, Suter, Jungman debate would be settled by mid season. Payroll would still be low enough to add players near the deadline.
  14. 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Guerra 4. Wilkerson 5. Hader LRP: Jungman RP: Hughes, Barnes, Williams, Suter SU: Neshek (2 years, 16 million) CP: Knebel Pretty boring but very realistic.
  15. The Marlins are looking to dump salary. How about Lewis Brinson for two years of Ozuna even up? In two years the Brewers will have several OF knocking on the door. Maybe Keon Broxton would sweeten the deal?
  16. #2 Nyjer Morgan because it reminds me of the best, most entertaining team since 1982. "Plushdamentals."
  17. I don't want to see Perez, Villar, Aguilar and Thames all on the roster. My thought was a poor San Diego team would take all the MLB talent they can get.
  18. Neshek: 2 years, 10 million Swarzak: 2 years, 10 million Trade for Brandon McCarthy Walker: 1 year, 10 million with a team option Package Villar or Perez, Broxton, and Thames or Aguilar for Solarte
  19. I wish Counsel would have shown this much fire right after the All Star break!
  20. SP: Anderson, Woodruff, Davies, Hader RP: Hughes, Barnes, Guerra, Suter, Williams, Swarzak, Knebel C: Piña, Vogt 1B: Thamed, Aguilar platoon (I am not 100% sold on Aguilar) 2B: Walker 3B: Shaw SS: Arcia UT: Sogard, Perez OF: Braun, Santana, Phillips, (sign/trade for an OF) Package Villar and Broxton for your SP or OF? Two premium players or salary could easily be added.
  21. Brett Phillips is becong the CF of the future! The more he plays the better he looks.
  22. Favorite- Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City. Their Hall of Fame, the Negro League Hall of Fame, awesome barbeque near the park (Arthur Bryant's), great food at the park, reasonable prices and Miller products. I asked a Royals fan about Budweiser and he stated, " Most Royal's fans are with you guys up north." We stayed at a hotel across the road (walking distance). The fand were unbelievably kind. Least Favorite- Target Field (now that old Tiger is tore down). Besides the rail to get you to the park the stadium was nothing special at all. Twins fans were ok. Poor beer selections and the bars around the stadium sucked. I had a better time at Wrigley. Very disappointing. I am hoping to knock out San Diego and Camden next.
  23. Chatwood as a free agent or Clayton Richard in a trade. Add a 2/3 starter to go with Anderson, Davies, Hader and Woodruff.
  24. 1.) Anderson, 2.) Free Agent Signing or Trade, 3.) Zach Davies, 4.) Brandon Woodruff, 5.) The winner of the Guerra, Suter, Wilkerson, Burnes training camp battle. A trade for a Clayton Richard and Ryan Butcher or Brad Hand would sure up the rotation and bull pen. The Brewers have the pieces to do it and it may not cost a ton if some of the #5 options, other than Burnes, are included.
  25. Anderson, Davies and Woodruff are the only pitchers I'd be comfortable with at the start of 2018. Acquire a #2 (Cobb) and let the remaining pitchers battle for the #5 spot. Hader needs to stay in the pen.
